  • I can't believe that one train doesn't derail!!! lol

  • Nice layout - lots going on in a small space

  • woah they crammed all that they could onto that first layout, pretty cool tho !

  • Unrealisticly fast....imagine being inside those trains trying to enjoy a brew?

  • to fast shame

  • hi does anyone know if a oo gauge is the same as a ho gauge cos i was lookin at trains on ebay and there are some good locos from america and their gauge is ho

  • @spinosaurus98 - If you're just starting out, I'll forgive you for not knowing this already.

HO gauge uses a scale of 3.5mm/1 foot, or a ratio of 1:87. OO gauge uses a scale of 4mm/1 foot, or a ratio of 1:76.2. The result is an HO gauge model would look 7/8 the size of a OO gauge model of the same prototype. But the funny thing is, HO and OO gauges both run on 16.5mm gauge track. There are other issues such as couplers that aren't compatible.

  • @spinosaurus98 i think 00 is the same as H0 but the H0 locos are slightly bigger, they still run on the track though, a bit like british N Gauge and N Gauge

  • @monsterelectronic have u seen the price of most trains these days, its terrible i was in the model shop in swansea and there was a digital sound train for nearly £300 and it was only a little shunter

  • @monsterelectronic - You got it the wrong way round - OO Gauge has the larger scale than HO Gauge. HO locos tend to be bigger because American locos are WAY bigger than British ones (something to do with the smaller loading gauge used in the UK).

  • This i very very very good video.THIS IS BEST ON THE WORLD.HORNBY HAVE GOT BEST TRAIN ON THE PLANET EARTH.Hornby Dublo 2 rail 2007 alresford is best video.

  • I love the way the 2nd inner train an coaches sweeps in, nice action.

  • Eine interessante Anlage!

  • Eine interessante Anlage!

  • DO NOT TOUCH

When I was about 7 I accidently derailed a O Gauge locomotive at a show. I cried. xD

  • u tell um scott

  • like it how it says, please, DO NOT TOUCH.

  • Yes, the speed is too fast for this layout. In real time the passenger's cups of tea would not survive! Nor would a train be permitted to move through a station at this speed. Such a good layout, you owe it to the public watching the display to keep it ALL to scale... Nice layout.

  • Curiously, with regard to comments about the trains running too fast, when the Dublo model of a Castle class locomotive came out there were complaints that it was too slow! Meccano claimed in response that it was geared to run at 90 mph, in other words about the same as the maximum the original would achieve.

The 8F is notably slower (as can be seen from my vids!).

  • Re the comments about being too fast.As it was pointed out, these were originally built as toys, and were run fast, when purchased as Xmas pressies, birthdays.Personally i think these type of layouts are FAR more interesting to watch, with trains rattling round and round.Fantastic collection, thanks for putting the video up.

  • one of the trains that are running look like an evening star

  • wow, they are going fast... i agree bikersupermoto

  • Back when these were made, they were considered "toy trains", and it is almost traditional to run toy trains as fast as they can go. But Hornby-Dublo were among the early model trains, and running model trains is a different thing.

BTW - how long before someone comments "Its not hornby dublo my grandad had hornby dublo and hiz iz 3 rail"?

  • a really good layout man. i really like mainaly the trains, coaches and wagons.

  • this is very good exibition and layouts its my ambition to build on my own collection and work on the biggest layout that space allows ive already made an experiment video with my humble hornby 00 set thanks great!

  • No, No, No !

  • Why do so many modellors run their train so rediculously fast? Scale these speeds to real life and the passengers would not be real happy! Let's keep them realsistc.

  • Sorry to disappoint you all regarding the cost of "something like this" but you are actually talking more like £5,000 to build this one - possibly even more. Just take a look at "Hornby Dublo 2 Rail" in the collectors sections of the internet. Just one of these locomotives at auction recently sold for £800.

  • @waldenhouse

I think it would be more realistic to put modern Hornby layouts at costing £5k. Hornby Dublo is bound to be a year's wages for most people.

  • what era

  • I disagree, they should be going faster..

About 500 mph would be ok..

    That's London for yah...

  • i'm 14 and i seriously want a train set like this, i dont know why its just something about them makes me want to build one.

How much would something on this scale cost?

  • um the cheapest i found was 60£ but it was a set

  • I am not sure but £250-3350

  • Sorry £250-£350

  • Cheers

  • Why do some people want to run the trains so unrealistically fast? Even the large scale live steam I see the Brits run them way to fast. If it won't run slow, then you need to tune it.

  • @Bobrstrong totally agree with you ... the funny thing is, the brits have the slowest and just about the worst REAL train system in europe - maybe running their models this fast is the dreams they have for their real trains lol

  • the trains are running far too fast - it completely spoils the layout and makes it very unrealistic! shame coz its nice otherwise - looks like an untrained operator or a kid "playing with a trainset"

  • @bikersupermoto picky, picky, picky..... its a nice layout stop pointing out the faults.... and look at the good bits...

  • @Oobyification - lol, ud better tell everyone else who all seem to agree on the point of the excess speed - its the trains whizzing about like this that detract from the all the good bits that you rightly mention!.

  • @bikersupermoto ok...

    sorry

  • @bikersupermoto They are playing with a trainset, there's no two ways about it.

  • @bikersupermoto Thats the point... You are SUPPOSED to have fun with stuff like this. Otherwise you are wasting you money on things that look good.... but don't move... you may as well get a painting of one.

  • @bikersupermoto I agree it looks like they are raceing

  • @bikersupermoto - Back in the days when Hornby-Dublo ruled, it was the norm to run toy trains real fast like this. It galls me to see modern Hornby or Bachmann models run like an old clockwork set, though.

  • @bikersupermoto The point of a train set is to play with it though....?!

  • @bikersupermoto that what they are!!!

  • @bikersupermoto you are right, but the layout also looks "dead". No people in the scenes and all the train do is running around in circles. No real railroad runs around in circles. This is just a child's toy train layout without any attempt at reality.

  • @bikersupermoto I completely agree. No concept of modeling.

  • love ithow big??

  • well cool

  • well therez not bridges and no mountains and no fun

  • where abouts in arelsford is this, and when is the next one?

  • layout is OK could be better but the thing that lets it down is the speed of the trains . If you had passengers in those coaches ( imagining it scaled up to actual size they would all be killed!. Slow it down it's not clever

  • I agree. Why run them so fast? makes it less fun to watch, just trying to focus on a train shaped blur! Wouldn't want to be on that train that turns right before going left! haha. So cool though. I'm just jealous!

  • I love the station layout. But my only moan is some of these train layouts on here are starting to look like the mobile phone game 'Snake'... The trains just go around and around going through the station every 30 seconds. I have always promised myself that when i get my layout sorted, im going to have helix's and second levels, so their is more time between the trains shooting by...

  • cool

  • Superb
