  • She is brilliant when she says "Paris... France." That's all, man. Argue about the technicalities and tone all you want, but that is brilliant timing. She is, as far as I know, the best comedic opera singer ever!

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa))))))))))))))) unbeliiiiiiiiiiieved GREAT !!! AMAZING!!!!

  • how does such a big voice come out of such a little body

  • wow, I didn't know she could sing like this. That's a shame, they should use it in glee (yes, I know she's not *only* in glee, but she is ALSO in glee, and that is where I found her)

  • In my opinion, this is Kristin at her absolute finest! Not bad for a little girl from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma! Bless her, all 4'11" of her!!

  • Try Natalie Dessay for a different take on it.

  • She is spectacular! She performs classical opera in a way that people who dont normally enjoy opera are completely entertained. I adore her~

  • Watching her perform is so inspiring. She gives everything 100%; you just can't help but watch her. That's true stage presence. :3

  • It's really weird to hear her sing Opera. One would think she wouldn't sound all that different, but she does! But she's amazing at absolutely anything she does.

  • @daiu1ro I believe she was trained to sing classical music, and with a voice like that we can hear the results. She's the best!

  • I'm sorry that Bernstein didn't live long enough to hear her sing this...

  • I LOVE HER LAUGH!!!!!!!! Like this if you do too : ) She's so talented and I love it when she sings opera, it takes a lot of practice and large lungs to get like that.

  • haha, she's so cute!

  • I wonder if she can break a champagne flute with her voice? XD

  • That audience must have been smiling for days.

  • She's a wonderful coloratura and actress no doubts.

  • GUYS ARGUING ABOUT KRISTIN BEING A PROPER SOPRANO, she has a Masters degree in Opera singing!!

    Cheno = AWESOMENESS.

  • Fantastic interpretation and a great voice!

  • Compares well with the Barbara Cook original.

  • Compares well with the Barbara Cook original. Try singing this every night and matinees.

  • @11212400 Well Kristin sang "No One Mourns the Wicked" and "Finale" from Wicked every night and matinees, which are pretty much equal.

  • What a voice!!! She's amazing, really!!

  • Superb. I watch this video like ... all the time.

    A true coloratura soprano.

  • Pretty sure she missed a line during the spoken part. Otherwise amazing

  • I implore you to hear Emma Matthews in this role.

  • @leporello56 hmm, i bet you could do better.... NOT!!!

  • @leporello56 - BTW - it's "Coloratura", music critic. This is what I do for a living. From a vocal stand point and the genre of this Operetta, she is almost flawless in her runs. It's considered one of the hardest aria's to do next to "Queen Of The Night" in Mozart's Magic Flute (but we'll not forget that Magic Flute is an OPERA, therefore Coloratura is combined with Dramatic Soprano. To call this SHIT shows me just how bad your ear is. Period. Plus, she puts a lovely spin on presentation

  • @SingerAR...Hear hear (pun intended)!!

  • 58 people are deaf.

  • somewhat odd sounding high notes...

listen to a real soprano like june anderson

  • @asdfopera Have you heard Diana Damrau? THAT'S is a real soprano

  • @breakaliciouskid786 Have you realized that she is an actress and a musical actress? Damrau is a super soprano, but Chenoweth is and common super soprano! What you always have to compare two different things???

  • @breakaliciouskid786 It is not the same kaind of soprano, that's all. Every one has his own voice and there are as many soprano's style as sopranos. Kristin is what we call in french "soprano léger" , Damrau is coloratura but not "léger", as she has almost a lyric voice.

  • @tropikaki How does that compare to a Soubrette? Which I would classify Chenowith as. I would love to hear her sing Musetta's Waltz, if she sing's in Italian.

  • She's such a hoot. I love her to death.

  • wow!

  • AMAZING, I wish I could only sing like her or Idina menzel. I hope someday I can at least sound close 2 that someday, since I just realise that I am officaly a soprano not a alto

  • kristin really is fabulous!!! What a voice!

  • looks like cameron diaz :) great singing

  • I'm sorry I have offended you. I feel stating that Chenoweth is not my cup of tea was quite diplomatic. Anyway, thanks for not getting nasty!!! There are so many popera/musical fans that do! I enjoy musicals, popera, and opera.

    Happy YT listening!!!

  • what's show?

  • Now, that is a SINGER!!!! BRAVO!!!!!!

  • Kristin Chenoweth has the voice of an angel.

  • She makes it sound so easy! I love how theatrical she is

  • Even though I've always loved this, now after hearing other people sing this song I realize just how much I love Kristin's voice <3

  • I love you Kristin :D

  • when you listen to her without watching, you expect to see a woman 3 times her size... haha, she's so unique!

  • Why is she wearing a mic???

  • @azoressinger because she's not actually singing opera.

  • @azoressinger Because she's in a massive house. It's pretty standard.

  • @azoressinger Because she's in a massive house. It's pretty standard.

  • @azoressinger Ok. It's 2010. No one does ANY genre without a mic these days, even opera. Also, if I'm not mistaken, this is CARNEGIE HALL.

  • @emmadilemmasings I didn't know that about opera, is that true? Last thing I went to see was the Mikado, which I don't think was miked, and possibly would have benefited from being so.

  • Is this from a documentary special?

Kristin, is an amazing singer, in fact no words can describe, but I'll have to make do with what I have, Beautiful, funny and talented! I could go on for years!

  • AMAZING!!!! that's TALENT.

  • I have to inhale a lot of helium to sound like her. LOL. She's great!

  • She uses her cute little voice to her advantage for acting ^^ And when she uses her soprano voice, it's amazing too.

  • Bravissimo!

  • She's not too bad but I think Damrau's voice and acting are better.

  • I have to admit that KC is not as good as Natalie Dessay in terms of technique and voice control, but KC makes it enjoyable to watch. So I still prefer KC.

  • she sounds like a tiny mouse in some parts XD ... i keep natallie dessay

  • @robmadw Well, but Kristin Chenoweth focuses more on acting. She has better stage presence instead of technique, which is something people look for in musicals.

  • @Felicity1247 u're right in that part, well its a song i enjoy in both ways, acting and singing technique...

  • I much prefer Kristin Chenoweth to Renee Fleming! She has such personality and acts while singing!

  • @Hua622 I've seen Renée live, and she sings with amazing emotional depth. I agree that Kristin's better on this particular song, though.

  • I much prefer Kristin Chenoweth to Renee Fleming!

  • how can such a vocal voice, transition to this magnificent soprano....

    just brilliant

  • @redifreddy14 a vocal voice?! lmaooooooooooooooo

  • loveee!

  • I really wish she would do more opera. She is so amazing and super talented. I was blown away. I know that she has a degree in opera, but I had no idea she was this good. Brava!

  • @dorothy76 Really? you'd like to see her in opera?? jaaaayyzus....

  • Did she really forget the words or was that part of the act?

  • @RaineaTrenton Part of the act.

  • I didn't know she did Opera.

  • i rather natalie dessay in this interpretation! XD :) but she didnt do it bad!

  • This clip made me laugh and cry throughout. What a fabulous interpretation and performance by an extremely talented woman. I had passed her off as just another Broadway type, but WOW ! I am now an eternal fan. Bravo, Kristin !

  • How can such a big voice come out of such a small person?

  • haha im her exact sixe. can i sing like that? :)

  • In the Diana Damrau recording, she goes up to a high G

  • Where can we watch this concert?

  • Senhor sem duvida eh a diva dos musicais <333 flawless, certainly the best =)

  • This women seriously is making me doubt my sexuality...

    Nah it's just Kristin :P

  • i love u kristin **

  • that just stopped me in my tracks. mesmerising and magical.

  • I love Kristin! :) Omg this is amazing!!!

  • Only Barbara Cook compares. See the ghastly performance by Diana Damrau to see how important it is that this aria be performed by a genuine actress, despite the exceptional vocal demands. It's still ONLY going to come off if it's truly ACTED.

  • high e-flat. holy sh*t! this is just awesome!!

  • Who knew this girl could sing, and sing like that! Such a lovely voice, and such fun!

  • The 'high' note is an E Flat

  • where was this and where can i find her singing this on itunes??

  • @clairebelle123 unfortunatly you can't find herr singing this i've checked about a million times :(

  • Holy crap!!! My respect for her just went up about a 100 notches.

  • I can sing this and im short and petite like her so i know how hard it is

  • Oh my gosh is there anything this woman cannot do!?

  • I want to comment on everything Kristin! Im her new biggest fan! It's so funny! WHAT IS THAT NOTE AT 5:54, can someone please tell me.

  • @Tritano That note is either a high E or a C

    and im her biggest fan

  • Comment removed

  • BRAVO!!!!

  • Stunning. This woman is just too talented.

  • painful to hear, after Dessay. Sorry.

  • @mikern2001 at least someone has some sense...

  • awwww......shes so cute in this song, i love it

  • makes me smile!!!.......she really pulls this off!!! and spinning those pearls, you go gurl.......what panache!!!

  • her.....voice......O___________________O wow

  • I love her voice when she speaks, is like hearing Betty Boop hehe

  • LOVE HER!!!!

  • Bernstein's music is brilliant, so are Sondheim's lyrics. Chenoweth does a wonderful job! She's a terrific ad for higher musical education. Bravisissima!

  • she does a very good job. more emotion, crazy, a little more true to candide's vision

  • this. is. brills.

  • france...

  • @gabyz777 LOL

  • if i had a voice like hers, i wouldn't even talk, just sing

  • I love watching Kristin perform. She is always immediately in the moment whenever she sings. you can tell on some of the high notes that she could just hold on to them forever. It's crazy.....

  • Brilliant.

  • happy birthday lenny

  • This is it! The definitive Glitter and Be Gay. I love Dessay, Fleming, Upshaw, Cook and Anderson, but this gal has the voice, personality and campy histrionics to spare. Bravissima!

  • @Brahmsfourth: couldn't have said it better myself, I agree with you.

  • She is totally amazing!! I love her so much!!

  • She never fails to amaze me. Kristin Chenoweth is incredible. She can do character songs amazingly and still be this outstanding with serious pieces. She is truly outstanding.

  • AMAZING!!!!!!

  • She is GOD! She is just TOO outstanding

  • She's So tiny! Where does all that voice come from!?

  • @SakumaRyuichiNG um.. are you tone deaf?

  • @kuhayelahh I agree!! You must be tone deaf to say something like that!

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE. <3 <3

  • pure talent.

  • @SakumaRyuichiNG iT'S an Eb6 you Moron I take it you can do better.

  • @SakumaRyuichiNG: Candide is not a serious opera. She's purposely made it sound camp for comic opera.

  • @Felicity1247 You're right, it's indeed an operetta.

  • @Felicity1247 he/she said OPERETTA, twat.

  • Where is this vid from, did Kristin have her own show? I do love her so much. Her comic timing is excellent and her voice is amazing. That range! I wish I had her voice :)!

  • Pariiisss... France!

    Lol.

  • Kirstin is amazing, she's so little, but she's got such a strong voice, and she's an amazing performer!

  • Amazing orchestra too!

  • For those of you who haven't done your homework on Kristen Chenoweth, she has a masters degree in Opera! So its actually no surprise, but it is delightfully pleasant that we are able to enjoy the amazing things that come from this petit woman!!!!

  • @Jalyssia2813

obviously you haven't done your homework either - it's KRISTIN.

  • @Jalyssia2813 i feel better knowing that someone else knows that too haha :)

  • @Jalyssia2813 well said. And the high note obsession is just *duh". She is tiny, with short vocal folds and a tremendously high speaking voice, just like Kathleen Battle. IT's where her voice naturally sits. What impresses me is her enormous musicality, talent and presence yup. And Bernstein. *sigh*

  • @pianomags Some "little" voices have difficulty projecting enough volume. Lily Pons was one such opera singer who had to compensate for her small size and lack of sheer volume. For her diminutive size, Kristin has fantastic projection. I am quite amazed by her talent and ability. As a lover of opera, I have a number of favorite singers, but Kristin is definitely making her way up my list!

  • @Jalyssia2813

I have never heard her sing opera, I knew she had a music degree.

  • @Jalyssia2813 lol, you spelt Kristin wrong :P

  • @IHeartScrubs1995 ha ha lol

  • Her comedic timing is exemplary....beautiful, gracious, supremely talented woman...LOVE HER!!

  • i like the part when she goes HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • This song is Edward Cullen's everyday to do list.

  • WOW!!! I never in a million years expected that to come out of Kristen Chenoweth. Not up to the level of Damrau or Dessay of course, but still totally amazing!

  • Paaaaaris..... Freance.

  • WOW she is amazing. I love Kristin so much.

  • The diff levels of the high pitch remind me of Disney's Snow White when I was a kid

  • I can't get tired from listening to or looking at Kristin. I'd wish to hear her singing opera. After all, Glitter is an opera aria in its own right. What would deter Kristin from singing any operatic repertoire - say Bellini or Donizetti? Bravo, Kristin

  • @harrypotterwicked she's a coloratura soprano, the highest range for female. for her total range, my guess would probably be from base to tip of Mt Everest LOL. that's just my guess though; haven't really heard that much of her lower range besides For Good from Wicked so if anyone can correct me, please do. :)

  • I've seen this spritely young lady on a few talk shows and thought of her as very cute and elfin. But what a surprise to hear her beautiful operatic voice. This young woman has incredible talent. There are very few performers who can cross over from comedic to operatic roles. I hope we hear much-much more from her. She's delightful!

  • @harrypotterwicked It's from Candide. I can't tell you more than that w/out looking it up, and I'm too lazy for that shiz.

  • she's so freakin awesome. brilliant interpretation of a classic :D

  • She is perfect for this show and would win the tony for this role she has an amazing career and looks like she is 20.

  • France LOVE the nasal so midwest, go Oklahoma ;D

  • I normally hate opera singers. There's something about the operatic style that grates at my ears. But whenever I listen to Kristin sing opera, I can't stop listening. She has SUCH an amazing talent. Love her to death!

  • Where is this song from?

  • @motownazn it's from Candide. Kristin Chenoweth played Cunegonde in the revival!

  • Diana Damrau is the Best!!!

  • No one could beat her. <3

  • she is amazing to be able to sing that high snd good wit hehr lil bod she is 4'11~

  • That audience should be on their feet.

  • Shrill in the upper range. A great actress, but Dessay has this aria nailed.

  • i can't believe all those voices are hers

  • Her voice touches my soul. I feel in peace when listening to this.

  • if anyone would like to see the the show that this song was in w/ kristin, just type in: (candide 1/12) on youtube it will be the first video

  • i love her

  • wow! o am speechless with awe!

  • Completely Amazing... I adore Kristin! Anyone know where I could find the full Video to Kristin's performance with the Boston Pops??? I would die to have it!

  • goose-bumps! where is this song from? and what is it about?

  • @dolphindreamer95 it's from the musical candide, and it's about a girl who feels forced to be happy and rich-looking, and feels that it makes her unpure.

  • goose-bumps!

  • all i can say is woah!
