he didnt change the meaning, its still a bit of fun,the original point of the song is he loves america, just not the rednecks. he always alters the lyrics a lil to keep the jokes fresh
The original point criticizes America... Sure, he loves it, but it's not the point of the song, it's to lure people to think it's a love song firstly :p.
@tehhhhhd the point is he loves America but there are a number of things he sees as a major problem, they won't stop him from loving his home but it does cause distress and in his opinion need change
well inuyasha read the constitution and youll notice something...you wont find the word GOD anywhere on it...and therein lies the problem..america has turned into a cesspool because of religon ...these christians myth chasers even think america was founded on christine doctrine and the truth is the first americans came here to escape religion...so to bring the party back we gotta erase people and their myths
They didn't necessarily come to America to avoid religion, but to escape the oppressive views of the church that would not let them have their own religion. i.e. The state is catholic, so you can not be Jewish, Christen, Muslim, Atheist, Agnostic, Hindu, etc...
Hold it here. I agree completely Church and State should be serperated. The first immigrant americans from england didn't come here to escape religion. They were Puritans. They came here because thier religion was considered too batshit insane for England. All of the founding fathers were white, rich landowning christians. Like it or not, The United States WAS founded on extremely conservative christian beliefs. That aside, let people believe what they want man. It's thier life.
@ultimatexeo No it wasn't. Jefferson believed christianity to be the worst possible thing that could happen to a country. He even went so far as to create the Jefferson Bible, which was the regular bible with everything Jefferson hated taken out. It was a very short book. Washington was a deist. Franklin was an atheist. Adams signed the Treaty of Tripoli explicitly reafirming that the USA was in no way founded on christianity.
@iampostal of course this idea of a "cesspool" doesn't come from a moral degradation from moving away from the morals put forth by the beliefs of a majority of religious beliefs/institutions and towards an almost indistinguishable mass of grey. With some fucked up reasoning placing morality as wrong because people see it as relative. If there is any myth that needs to be seen in truth it is the myth of the separation of church and state.
Over and over again one hears about this stupid discussion about "what did the founding fathers want for USA" same with Turkey, Pakistan but another religion.
Its completely IRRELEVANT, they've been dead for centuries and so has their view on what is right or wrong what is just and unjust, slavery is forbidden, the world is globalizing and it is up the the citizens of USA to make the decisions for today and not the founding "fathers" because we must deal with the concequences.
No problems man, glad I could be of help! :) I submitted those complete Stephen Lynch album tabs a few months ago, so if you have any questions regarding any of the content, please do feel free to message me over here at YouTube. :)
the nation abandoned support to every aspect of the american way: gov't, army, cause for war, state of war, and dropped the God bless america. Citizens in america are all really just americans, there are very few patriots, ppl who will die to defend america and her defenders, anymore.
slack: my definition of patriotism extends farther than just someone who loves to live in america and live the american life...
Lynch would now need to update the song now to include Julius obama's war machine.

I wish he didn't change the lyrics when he plays in in America. He played the original song in Stockholm. Maybe the lyrics would help people think ;)

Hardly the truth. As several people have pointed out, the Puritans fled from England to avoid religious persecution on account of their faith.
