  • Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to get declawing banned in Canada. It's banned in 39 countries so its not just my opinion. I need all the help I can get. Please message me & I will send you my on line petition.

Thanks & lets stop this declawing madness.

  • why is everyone rating this vid down!? are they afraid of the facts, or the "scary pictures"? everyone is like "don't confuse me with the facts, my mind is made up"! please stop shooting down every arguement you don't like. this is one of my favorite videos, and i don't want to see it get deleted. it contains a lot of facts, and i even got one of my teachers (who has a history of declawing) to recognize the horrors of declawing!

  • @tahoesittinon26s taking away a cats claws at all is cruel, selfish, and lazy. you obviously care more about the wellbeing of your furnature than the wellbeing of your cat. the only reason some cats do not apear to be in pain after surgery is because they are trying to tough it out. not only do cats have great pride, its also an instinct that helps animals in the wild. if the animal does not look helpless or weak, then predators will be less likely to take advantage of them.

  • whats up with the crazy voice?! we all have to suffer a bit in life for one thing or another. i love my Maxi but i dont like her scratching. i have to pay for my furniture not her.

  • Wow the robot voice is obviosly from google translator. I love my cat and i hate the idea of declawing him

  • lol steven hawking

  • I don't understand why anyone can't keep their pets the way they were made?

  • r they in a bedroomm

  • Holycrap, is this Steven Hawking? lol

  • Wow yall showed the worst way to declaw a cat. Why don't you show the laser declaw? That is the best way to do it. I am not against declawing cats. Actually I am going to get my cat declawed in a couple of weeks using the laser method.

  • Comment removed

  • @tahoesittinon26s Seriously - do your research. Laser declawing is STILL declawing. It is still amputation! Even if the procedure goes smoothly your cat is still going to experience pain for life - physical and psychological. Imagine having the front part of your foot removed and still having to walk on it! The improper weight distribution alone would cause SERIOUS pain for the rest of your life. It's inhumane. If you can't humanely manage your cat you shouldn't have one.

  • No one is forced to have a cat. When people are concerned about their stupid furniture or get a little scratch (little kittens for example can only do tiny scratches, it even doesn`t hurt) then don't have one. Such a cruelty! They should be treated for this! and normal cats without abuses oder psychical disorders don't scratch if you are nice to them. omg, cats are not lions, how can someone be afraid of a cat scratch -.-

  • OMG. I never knew that declawing a cat was bad. My teacher at my school (animal rights activist) said that declawing them was a good thing because they can't scratch you. But now I know she was wrong. After my mom talked to my teacher she wanted to get my cat declawed. But I showed her this video and she changed her mind

  • Who the fuck had this crazy idea???Get a scratch post/tree w/e,get a fucking string and a botlle cap,and play with ur cat/kitty so he can get fammiliar with that scratch post, and when he scratch there award it,treat it.Spray some citrus parfum over the sensitive areas, where u think she will scratch.Wtf,i mean whats next, dog teeth removal? If u want a pet get the cat,if u want a toy get a dildo and put it in ur ass, couse u dont deserve no living creature to live with u.Wow who would legalise this?

  • This is sooo cruel if people are worried about cats scratching their furniture then dont get one simple... N how would you like it if you woke up n all ur nails were removed it would be pretty painful if summin dropped on ya toe wouldnt it!!! Or if you had an itch that you couldnt scratch!!!

  • And one more thing, all you people who say "the cat isn't affected" are full of shit and you can suck it. P.S. OMG! It's steven hawking

  • @dollsized Exactly! Once you spay and nuter it and declaw it, you don't have a cat, you have a toy. And ChrisKahn, you can suck it!!

  • my friends cat is declawed and he ran away for 3 months and he survived! but i dont rly like declawing.

  • THIS IS SICK..... IF SOMEONE WOULD DO THAT TO THERE ANIMAL THEN THEY DON'T DISERVE TO HOLD AN ANIMAL YOU CAN NOT DO THAT TO ENYBODY IF YOU LOVE THEM. IT'S DONE BY BIG EGO-PEOPLE WHO HAVE NO OR MISPLACED FEELIINGS. IT SHOOD BE ILLEGAL GLOBALLY.

  • If you don't like that a cat is born with claws, don't get a cat.

  • My cat is declawed and its not in pain or dying or having back problems or nerve problems. It still goes outside and kills birds with its back claws and can still climb tress. You ppl are way too dramatic. If you want a cat to be left natural then dont keep one as a pet and let it go live in the woods. Its like saying you are abusing a fish by keeping it in a fish tank. So stupid.

  • @ChrisKahn cats WALK on their nails so yeah, declawing kinda cripples them. Your cat probably just learned to live with it. After all, all living things will adjust to try to survive. However the reason for your cat being able to climb is probably due to the fact that you didn't declaw your cat's hind legs. Declawing however is definitely a selfish surgery, only benefiting the pet-owner, not the pet.

  • @ChrisKahn you're just lucky he didnt SHOW any signs of pain. cats are pain tolerent because in the wild there would be no use complaining because nobody would help them.unlike humans who go "oh no! my furnature is shredded a little!! im gonna diiiiieee!!!!" x x 0 ever hear of a scratching post? how would you feel if somebody cut off the tips of your fingers?

  • @bonoboperson i have 3 scratch posts and my furniture is fine. My cat scratched the carpet to the point I had to replace it several times. And I dont have time to monitor it 24/7 and wait for it to scratch the carpet for me to discipline it. Some cats just cant be trained. You act like the wounds of declawing doesnt heal. It was asleep during the surgery and has pain pills afterwards. Trust me my cat is VERY vocal it will complain when its uncomfortable. Anyways Merry Chrismas.

  • ewww gross this is why i got a dog

  • microsoft sam makes it even creepier...

  • Don't see why it is a huge issue, people neuter their pets all the time, but removing their claws, that's crossing a line?

Don't see why it is neccesary either for that matter. Neutering cats keeps the population under control (not all cats a kept locked inside all hours of the day), so there is a point in neutering cats. But de-clawing? If you can't deal with scratch marks, get a scratch post. And if that is too much of a hassle, you shouldn't have an animal.

  • Oh and tjbro rocks , read the comment

  • And the Canada is a great country , and your stupid if u think this is inhumain and it kills cats , it doesn't . It's the peice of shit owners who let there cats outside to get hit by a car or get killed by something else

  • Umm u asses who think this hurts your pet , only for a few days , like surdgery , the pain will go away .

The only reason though to declaw your cat is if it's a cat u want it to be at home .

Cats will get angry if you leave them alone for too long and will wreak your furniture . It isn't cruel to declaw your cat .

And I don't want my email full of shit about inhumane crap . Post what u want on you tube not my email .

  • @jakeroxx1122 Why get a cat if scratching is a concern for you? Also, you didn't listen to the video very well. It clearly said nerve damage is possible which can cause ongoing pain.

  • I dont see how the USA can kill things as if its ok and call themselves "a free country", and "humane!"

  • omfg, don't use microsoft sam with this stuff plz

  • I would love to see this video with new narration.

  • Scratching does not cause a problem if cats' nails are trimmed properly. Scratching posts and consistent guidance about where they may scratch also help cats learn not to scratch furniture or other inappropriate items.

  • although not illegal here, my vet refuses to do it.I adopted my cat from a shelter and had to sign a form that I will not declaw my cat.

I think most people think they just pull out the claws and that it doesnt hurt,,,its amputation people and it is beyond cruel. If you dont want your precious stuff scratched up,,,get a fish!!

  • @donnaanddavid I wonder how much teeth that form really has if you & your Vet should decide it's necessary. Just curious. The clause was provisional to adoption yet the cat belongs to you now. And I say a Vet trumps a Shelter.

We've just been approved to adopt a kitten and will probably have to sign a similar form. I'm with them & I don't wanna do it. I see it as a last resort. I'll diligently try everything else first. With the options available, I'm not expecting it to come to that.

  • @rswingman

I dont imagine it would have any real signifigance legally. Its just their way of telling you that they dont condone it..You are right,as far as they know we might have moved away and I had my cat dyed purple etc.

My regular vet wont declaw cats,so thats good enough for me.

Good luck with your kitty and hopefully all will be well.On behalf of cats everywhere, thanks for choosing to adopt from a shelter <3

  • @donnaanddavid Well, I'd almost forgotten that they took Ellen's dog back just because she gave it to a trusted friend (against the contract). I also read that in a case of cat declawing, a vet-tech called the rescue society (they use tattoos) & told on the owner. So I'm gonna say don't test the theory.

  • why did you have to use the retarded computer voice?

  • screamsbenighted that's cause cats can hide their pain very very well. You wouldnt know anything

  • Jeez, all my cats all my life have been de-clawed and they have all fared well. They hunted the SHIT outta snakes, mice, birds etc... Also beat the crap out of other cats. And one of them was a tiny little thing too. Oh and even if you don't de-claw them, they still get hit by cars.

  • This is legal in US? OMFG!

  • @SneakyTweaky Yup and also tail docking, and dewclaw removal in puppies. Also male circumcision, Im against all of it. My dog and cats are left natural, and so will my son when ever i have kids.

  • i think it should come down to this, dont declaw your cat, but keep it in your house! i'm a bird lover and am sick of seeing massacred bird remains in my garden from these evil creatures.

  • My opinion on declawing is simply that it is cruel. I have had cats all my life and care and attention to training will prevent any unwelcomed destruction to personal property. I feel if you don't have time to train an animal properly then perhaps you should rethink your pet choice.

  • @sjs7heaven Hallelujah!!

  • Comment removed

  • @SEORGJSGE ....not if you trim their claws and give them scratch posts. i have 10 cats and have no problems whatsoever.

  • i agree but my cat declawing im only 14 its sometimes better for the cat my cat can still run and strech i needed stitches when scartched me cats claw retract so its just like walking to them and thats why they do it young so they can get used to it

  • Scary voice...

But I hate declawing so much! I'd rather have my couch in shreds than have my kittens in pain...

  • Not exactly a high quality video... especially the difficult-to-follow audio. But it is educational.

  • Honestly, declawing is NOT horrible. I am a volunteer at a vet clinic & my vet always has me watch surgeries because I am an aspiring vet. I have seen three of these surgeries & yesterday my vet actually let me do a couple claws on my own cat. & FYI cats don't even need their front claws for protection outside, they use their back ones. They can function as normal, climb trees, & so on. So open your eyes to the fact that declawing IS NOT INHUMANE.

  • @tjbro13 So are you in favor of removing vocal cords and other mutilating surgeries as well? You as an aspiring vet should focus on learning about alternatives to this surgery to inform your clients of a less invasive choice. I have been working in a vet clinic for over 10 years and teach a vet assistant program...while the students are aware that declawing will be performed where they work, they certainly know of the alternatives. Animals should not be stripped of their natural behaviors.

  • I didnt know robocop was narrating youtube videos... sweet

  • declawing is SICK

  • This is a horrible thing to do to anyone or anything. Shame on all of you who support declawing animals.

  • that was recommended by the vet. The vet said that some cats are more aggressive by genetics and that this one was the WORST she had ever seen in her career. It was the vet's recommendation to de-claw and we had it done the other day. If we hadn't, no one would have adopted such an aggressive cat and she would've been put down at a shelter. Better to be homeless or euthanized than de-clawed with her loving family? I don't condone declawing, but it is sometimes a necessary evil. She's doing fine!

  • Some cats just must be de-clawed to be pets. We adopted a kitten that has bi-polar disorder. She can be super-sweet and then attack for no reason. She'll attack even when no one is touching or near her, and then return to her super sweet state. Medications have not worked. We care for an elderly relative who has been put on antibiotics twice for infections from cat scratches. Our cat attacks faces, legs, arms, everything despite soft paws, scratching posts, cat-nip, water bottles, everything...

  • That a terrible argument. Spraying a cat in no way effect cats enjoyment of life. Cats are not like humans they don't have sex for fun but to bread. Plus there are health benifits to cutting off a cats balls as you say. State one health benifit to getting a cat declawed. There is non is just lazy owners who wnat a pet but only if that pets fits in to there perfect world. Its wrong and thank good in the uk we have seen sense and banned it. I hope America will follow suit soon

  • @titfortat2 So you have concluded that removing a cats sexual organs in no way affects their enjoyment of life or natural state.

Yet you are sure that removing a cats front claws does.

Please enlighten us with a study showing that declawed cats behave differently. All so far have shown cats still instinctively scratch, and do not notice their claws missing. Desexing a cat has a HUGE and obvious difference in observable feline behavior though.

Didn't really think that one through did you?

  • Thank you Stephen Hawking

  • It should also be brought up that recent advances such as laser declawing greatly minimize risks of the procedure, since the incisions are much smaller, and the laser is precise and instantly cauterizes not only blood vessels but nerve endings as well.

  • all surgeries involve risk, and declawing is mutilation. Having your cat spayed/neutered is also mutilation, but the pros generally outweigh the cons, and a young cat would never know the difference.

    1) some cats are indoor only cats, so self-defense is moot. indoor-only is also safer for the cat, as they avoid altercations, vehicles, ticks, diseases, etc from an urban outdoor environment.

    2) cats walk with the last digit naturally retracted. cats do not walk on this digit.

  • nothing is inhumane about this. If you have a outdoor cat the chances of you paying to take care of it is rare. Outdoor cats just don't get declawed. Its not about furniture its about your safty. Scratches hurt and can cause more damage than you declawing your cat. It doesn't affect them.

  • @rainbowrants Scratches hurt? What are you doing to your kitty to make it scratch you that much! I'll accept that kittens upto about 3 months will scratch if you're not careful, but it's very easy to train them not to scratch. Cats give very good indicators as to how they are feeling and if you know your cat well enough, you won't need to declaw just to avoid a little scratch. Give it respect, space and love and it'll be returned with claws in.

  • Who got Stephen hawking to tell us about declawing??

  • @cats0345 Nice to see Stephen Hawking making sense for a change ;-)

  • @cats0345 lol rite

  • I have 2 Siamese cats that I had de-clawed. After seeing how it's done I swore not to do it to another cat. I tried Soft Paws. Bad Idea. As claws grew, they got stuck in nylons that cats found to,be a fun"toy". Dangerous toy. Their nails can be very destructive so I whole heartedly believe in de-clawing. I would have to take them to a shelter if I couldn't de-claw. Whats worse...de-claw by my Vet or euthinize by "Humane Society"?

  • I would've watched this video, but the really stupid voice over kills it in less then 10 seconds. Interesting topic though.

  • I know im going to get thumbs down simply because i disagree but i had a cat who ws declawed-and yes he lost his energy afterwards (jsut as would ANYONE after surgury) but he went right back to normal, and continued to strech and such. if you take care of your animal it should be ok but if your cat EVER goes out side then no do not declaw. but my cat was literally a scardy cat and NEVER went outside! and now they have laser to declaw rather then pulling.

  • If you do an Internet search for "Declawing and science" you'll find an excellent article on the Little Big Cat site. It lists the arguments for & against declawing, by Dr. Jean Hofve.

  • I agree this video would be more helpful if the audio was redone. It is very difficult to listen to.

  • its you cant stand a cats claws DONT FUCKING GET IT YOU GET A CAT FOR ITS PLAYFULLNESS NOT FOR DECLAWING YOU SELFISH BITCHES

  • Oh someone mentioned "Soft Paws". Yeah that's a good idea. If some fat slut didn't declaw my cat before I bought her, I would be using those Soft Paws. Clipping every 7 days blows when you have a busy life like I do. But nobody is too busy to buy some fucking Soft Paws. So after thinking about it, yeah people are fucking selfish and don't give a shit if they amputate a bunch of toes off of their cats. People can't even raise their stupid felon children, they really don't deserve cats.

  • @Viktir666 LOL!

  • But I guess Soft Paws still prevents the cat from protecting itself and climbing. But they're not painful and can be removed.

Those vets should at least tell the stupid owners about alternatives..

  • I think declawing is pretty disgusting. But since I'm not a cat, I don't have to worry about this myself. I'm not a woman so I don't think about abortion much either. I am not for or against declawing. I don't care what dumb ass Americans do to their animals, much less to their kids. I don't really have a stance on this. I think the cat's owners will do whatever they want and a video probably won't change many minds. Humans don't give a shit about anything but themselves anyway. Fuck humans!

  • Well... you do have to pay taxes. Your tax dollars are used to deal with your city's unwanted cat problem. Data shows that declawing often causes problems that lead to cat abandonment & relinquishment. If you help educate people about animals, you won't have pay to euthanize & rehome as many. See my post above. Attitudes can take a long time to change, but the 'Net is a helpful tool. We can also vote with our money.

  • This video needs to be redone, it's impossible to listen to with the computer voice. It's important info that people need to know. As a vet tech I can tell you that this is a horrendous practice, & has been banned in all civilized countries. Just b/c you know of a cat who hasn't started showing the signs doesn't mean it won't. It's cruel, inhumane, & mutilates a cat. If you can't deal with its claws, DON'T get one, he's better off with someone else. If you truly love animals, you'll accept it.

  • wtf!! lol the computer voice

  • Comment removed

  • I'm not going to argue about whether this is right or wrong but one thing I found to be complete bullshit is "the only way a cat can exercise". Bullshit. Someone before me declawed my current cat and we run her all around the house with a laser pointer for about 30 minutes a day. Sometimes more. She jumps and plays on the couch with a soft kitty-toy mouse and she is healthy and conditioned.

  • @Viktir666 you didn't listen to the info (can't really blame you with that computer voice) but the cat can't stretch the way it normally does, & will end up with painful arthritis among other side effects. Before you make up our mind, do more research. I'm a vet tech, & I can tell you the only vets that will even do this are unethical & greedy. We are the only "civilized" country that hasn't banned it completely, though we have in some places. It's a horrible thing to do to an animal you love.

  • It's hard to listen to videos with childish, monotone, computerized voices that speak in run-on sentences. It's incredibly difficult for me to take these kinds of videos seriously.

Anyway, I don't think you understand my posts. Do you think I am for or against declawing? I am only stating a fact that some countries made it illegal and some don't.

If it's unethical and greedy, how come EVERY vet I've ever known for many years has done this process on a daily basis? I'm neutral personally.

  • I dont like to be scratched or punchured when I'm with my cat. After being hurt too many times. I kicked him to da curb. I havent had any pet since then. This was 4 months ago.

  • Fuckin Annoying voice! i hate this video...

  • Comment removed

  • that's why there is a scratch post and a product named softpaws

  • @HOSAM1 Soft paws are an option, but they have problems as well. You still have to be able to clip your cats nails before application, and some cats will simply not permit this kind of handling on a regular basis.

Soft paws fall off at different times, but your cat will still instinctively scratch all the time.

Some cats will simply make larger holes in your furniture scratching with blunt soft paws.

Soft paws don't hook and leave the cat defenseless outdoors, no different than declawing.

  • @HOSAM1 Exactly, I use softclaws..it's totallty the better alternative.

  • @HOSAM1 the 'soft claws' may help your furniture not getting scratched or whatever but the cat DOESNT like them at all i put 'softclaws' on my cat and when i saw one laying around the ground i saw that it had my cats nail inside it and my cat was bleeding!! please people whatever you do dont use them!!

  • @xiSuffocate thats just a freak accident but i think that people who declaw care more about their furnature than their cat.

  • @SEORGJSGE Or even better.... don't have a cat, your furniture wins and the poor cat wins. I wonder if six months after having your fingers amputated you'd have problems? Oh, wait, you can talk... cats can't.

  • Comment removed

  • @SEORGJSGE @SEORGJSGE Neutering is done for the benefit of the cat, not the cat owner, vacinations is also done for the benefit of the cat, not the cat owner.

  • @hicsumfabulalepus A cat cannot be happy if the owner is not happy with the cat. If a cat cannot coexist happily with the family in the home, it is far more likely that the cat will be given up for adoption.

There are far too many cats in adoption centers than can be found new homes for.

Safer and quick-healing laser declawing could in that scenario not only aide in improving the relationship between the cat and his/her owner, but safe its life as well.

  • @DumbDuck44

If you can't cope with a cat and that means then don't own a cat. It wrong shal we just remove a part of a person you need as other people find it annoying

  • @titfortat2 Cat's reproduce too readily. If more families don't adopt cats, then that just means that many more cats will be euthanized. Period.

The reality is that for some cats, scratching posts or nail clipping combined with soft paws are enough. Some cats will just make MUCH larger holes in furniture with the big blunt soft paws, and aren't trainable. At this point, laser declawing is a safe and much better option than giving up the cat with 80% of the time means death.

  • @titfortat2 The other fact is that the EXACT SAME PEOPLE that say that declawing is cruel, do not aknowledge the fact that the complication rate for laser declawing is extremely low with healing time of a day rather than a week with much smaller incisions that are by design automatically cauterized (including nerve endings) and have no problem whatsoever with neutering their cats.

Yes, laser declawing is mutilation, but so is cutting your cats balls off.

  • @SEORGJSGE You may not have met a cat with no problems, but a little research into this points that many cats DO suffer. Something that obviously can't be known until after the declawing, at which point is then too late. I haven't declawed my cat and my home is not destroyed. But then I have two scratching posts, one in the living room and one in the kitchen; he uses them.

  • @SEORGJSGE Gee, we have had cats for two decades, and never had -any- trouble with furniture being destroyed.

    1. Cat-proof furniture

    2. Proper training

    3. Allowing the cat to go outside

    4. Scratching post!

  • @SEORGJSGE it is considered severe cruelty to animals in most country's in Europe to declaw a cat ( € 400 per paw fine and a life time ban on keeping animals )

  • not if you trim their claws and give them scratch posts. i have 10 cats and have no problems whatsoever.

  • @SEORGJSGE Yes, but imagine how much pain your cat is going through.

  • @SEORGJSGE ohhh yea poor furniture!dont's get a cat and buy a peluche!that's disgusting and cruel

  • the practice of declawing cats painfuly illustrates that we are all part of a 00 type civilization

  • RIP my sweet rescued Bengal Benny four paw declawed then dumped out on the streets because he sprayed to fend with no defences! He lived in pain every day from this mutilation done to him. As a rescuer we see the majority of declawed cats have litter box issues I hope more people stumble on this video.

  • My cat's front paws were declawed. He has no problems at all. He seems to stretch fine, and sometimes scratching sounds are made from his paws when he kneads on the carpet. He also has no problems with the litter box. But for some reason he always scratches the plastic entrance after he goes lol.

  • Oh my god!!! I just got back from vacation and look at my history on my laptop, and what do I see? My sister was on this video spamming this worthless trash! I'm SO sorry, please accept my apoligies, she thinks shes ALWAYS right... She probably just feels offended because two of my cat's claws HAD to be removed because the old owner torremented them and ripped half of each claw off. Sorry, Sorry, SORRY about my sister...

  • You seem very embarassed - I feel bad for you! Tell your sister that declawing for medical reasons is very different from what this video is about :)

  • I think most of America (me too) doesn't know that its such a big deal to a cat, as its not something we can talk to cats about. I am against it though after seeing this video. Fuck my furniture, I'll call it art.

  • What?? Illegal to let your cat out in most states?? What America is that? The one that's deluding itself that it's ok to declaw cats..oh, that'll be the one that docks the ears and tails of dogs... and I really don't want to know about debarking...only in the good old US of A

  • In the USA, it is illegal in most states for the cat to go outside, also, the claws aren't fingers, their fingernails. Also, the back claws should not be taken off when a cat is declawed, and the ENTIRE claw should not be taken off, if that happens, the vet is crazy.

  • A cat's anatomy is nothing like ours. I work for a vet and they remove the first knuckle for declawing...always. It's not like plucking a nail out of the socket.

  • What vet do you work for??? The declawing process, when done correctly, are trimmed before it hits the veins or membrane in the claw, and just before there is the veins and membrane is just the area where it's ability to grow in a direct curve. Then the claw will grow back in the same way without the hook-like feature, but still allowing the paw to move in a circular motion that the cat naturally uses to walk. Pictures in the video are done by vets who care about money and thats it.

  • I have worked for several different veterinarians over the past decade and have witnessed this surgery done with 3 different methods. What vet do you work for? Your remark that 'the claw will grow back in the same way without the hook-like feature' does not happen with a declaw - I encourage you to research the actual procedure. I feel bad for people that defend this mutilation....it's obvious that they don't have the cat's best interest in mind and I find that very disheartening :(

  • Sorry that was my sister saying that lying trash, read "*MY*" new comment on this video.

  • its not like a nail out the socket, its like a finger from the hand

  • how selfish can anyone be to put their cat through this surgery? for any reason whatsoever? it IS as bad as it looks, it's a horribly damaging surgery, very painful and cats have been known to hurl themselves against their cage after surgery because they are in so much pain, how can it not be as bad as it seems, muffinman?

  • Could you consider putting this as a vid response to mine about declawing? If you would consider it and contact me I will send you mine and see if you would consider

  • woooooooow they make it look and sound a lot worse then it is.

  • sick and selfish people who do that to their cats. i agree with Aussiephil99. shame on USA....

  • Declawing is illegal in most civilised countries such as Australia, New Zealand and England................shame on you USA

  • @Aussiephil99 The number of countries where declawing is accepted as a norm greatly outnumbers those it does not. It is only illegal in parts of Europe and Australia.

Can we agree that neutering your cat is genital mutilation? You wouldn't allow a human to have their sex organs removed after all. Why is it ok to mutilate your cat? *sigh*

First try scratching posts with nip, cardboard, and squirt bottles. If that fails, laser declaw before giving the cat up for adoption. Simple.

  • @Aussiephil99 apsolutely shame!

  • @Aussiephil The "great" USA also sees killing, torturing, maiming and otherwise using any animal for any purpose without any care for the animals as either legal or in the case of demestic animals, a "misdemeanor". And says many times in it's lawbooks that animals are "property." They called USA the new Rome in some text. Interestingly, Rome exported many animals to Rome and forced them to be used for bloodsport like Using a flaming arrow to anger a rhino to kill a bear and bull... US/Rome sucks

  • This makes me physically sick to watch, I can't believe such a thing would be considered normal by people. Shame.

  • first of all on 2, and 5 you didnt put "go" so your a fuckin idiot....kfc uses cloned chickens, cats dont scratch your house...oh big deal they pulled the carpet a little, get over it....if your care more about money than an animal then you dont need a pet

  • a lot of cats are house cats, what do they have to defend? we gave my cat all the other options, she would not stop scratching up the walls and furniture? it was either lose her claws, or give her away. she does everything she used to, she stretches fine, she still runs around, jumps on her high places, all without scratching everything in her path. i don't think that's selfish one bit? i love animals of all kinds, and think this is not even remotely animal cruelty.

  • Every cat may get out without you knowing.

I recently saw a poster that said:

    "MISSING CAT.

    ~some detail~

    NO FRONT CLAWS".

That cat is definitely dead. If it had claws, it would have had a chance of survival.

Now tell me-who's fault is that?

  • how is it dead if its in someones custody?

and it's not declawing that caused the owner to be unreasonable and forget their cat or let their cat outside is it? i have no respect for animal abusers and irresponsible owners, but i think you guys are too obsessed with god and animal rights. you don't realize that professional good veterinarians know what they're doing and try to cause as little pain as possible when declawing them....BUT you really shouldn't get them declawed if there outdoors cats

  • They didn't plan on the cat escaping and dying.

    Whatever, you're blocked.

  • hahaha get shut DOWN

  • you're a faggot

  • haha okay. thxbai

  • ok so the next time you go and scratch your back i think you should be declawed you asshole...fuck you its inhumane and if you cant deal with a cat scratching a wall you shouldnt have a pet

  • You attached this to my video but I cannot find the approve button!!!!

  • Do you chop of your kid's tongues for crying? Do we cut off the hands of bank thieves? No. Then, why is it good to cut cat's fingers to protect furnature (*cough MATERIALISM cough*)?

The pro-declawers on here simply should die.

Please, at least re-upload this using Microsoft Sam's voice. Microsoft Mike is really annoying to listen to.

  • You can't convince me anything when you have Steven Hawking talking to me. The guy is a genius, but I can't stand to hear him speak.

  • omg its at night and im downstairs, this voice is sooo creepy!!!

  • How about simply narrating this using your own voice. I can't stand it when these computer voices are used, as usually they're used to somehow "hide" from others when posting content that may be controversial. It's just plain hard to listen to if nothing else. Argh.

  • Declawing is disgusting and selfish. A loving owner would never amputate their animal's toes to make their own life more convenient. If you want a companion that won't tear up your furniture or your arm, get a big stuffie. Don't mutilate a living creature.

  • O_O nightmarish

  • so how cold a cat defend his self if he was out side huh ?

  • Declawed cats should not be outside period. I do not hold it against those that let their cats outside (declawed or not) but I believe cats should be raised from kittens to stay indoors. This avoids contact with disease and fighting with other, possibly wild cats. In addition the outdoors awakens behaviors/instincts in some cats that can make them hard to live with.

However, exclusively indoor cats can be declawed safely by a qualified vet. To me, this has been acceptable.

  • You're right, cats shouldn't be outside. But my cat, a toyger, has close relations to a wild animal, and NEEDS to be outside, or he will meow every 5 minutes repeatedly.

There are wild cats out, but my cat just stays in this giant hole.

  • LOL! Believe me I hear you. :-) I had a neutered male that naturally had a lot of male hormone even after he was fix. He absolutely demanded to go out. Luckily he was not declawed. So we had no choice. Animals are funny. They will answer their calls despite us sometimes... :-) But we do our best with them and they are great companions.:-)

  • You want a cat as a companion, but you don't want it to express it's natural behaviours such as scratching or hunting. You'd be better off with a stuffed toy cat that you can sit in the window all day.

Only in North America do some people think it's okay to declaw. The rest of the world is opposed to it or has banned it.

  • Yes I want and have 3 very well kept, happy and healthy domesticated "house" cats as pets... They are indeed animals but they are certainly not "wild animals". Allow them to scratch up my furniture? No way... Allow them to hunt dirty, wild disease infested rodents? Not a chance! I actually want my pets to remain alive, healthy and clean. You may allow your pets to be exposed to parasites, disease and roam wild, but I choose not to thanks. I take care of my pets.

  • @HOSAM1 simple. dont let the cat out. its not a dog.

  • Thank you for a brilliant piece which really educates folks about this extremely horrible surgery. This is one of the best videos on the topic I have ever found. There is no reason ever to subject a cat to this dangerous procedure. Bless you for sharing this.

    Jo

  • 2nd point... Often those that are against declawing agree with spaying and neutering.... What on earth is the difference? Is a cats internal organs not "removed" when they are "fixed" so they can't reproduce? Doesn't that procedure make them a better pet and therefore more likely to cared for? I think it does. Cats that are outside SHOULD NOT be declawed. I can agree with that. They need all the tools they have to survive. But my indoor cats need to fit my lifestyle... not the other way around.

  • Spaying and neutering are proven to benefit the cat's health and increase lifespan. Declawing isn't just the simple removal of claws, it's the amputation of the end of their toes and has no benefit whatsoever to the cat.

Consider this, amputation of healthy toes or fingers is a widely recognised form of torture. Yet I have never heard of a hostage or prisoner of war who were threatened with sterilisation to make them talk!

  • The major reason "fixing" a cat increases their life span is because it makes them more content to be indoors where it is safe--in addition to lessening the probability of some cancers. I too think spaying and neutering is a good idea. But, let's be real, It benefits US more than them. I disagree, a declaw procedure is simply not torture. My cats aren't in pain. Not a solid analogy. You can't really relate a cat's experience in human terms. You'll run into some fundamental errors.

  • Cats are digitgrade, so to amputate the end of their toes is to cripple them - just as a human without toes would be crippled. Sure you'd learn to walk again, but your balance & stance will never be the same. This puts unnecessary pressure on the joints & can lead to arthritis in later life. Cats are well known for hiding their pain, and just because some declawed cats don't complain, doesn't mean that they are not suffering in silence.

Those who can't cope with claws should not get a cat.

  • I disagree. Cats do not walk on the digit that holds the claw. That digit is retracted away from the ground and sits on top of the pad that makes contact with the floor. Again, you can't compare humans and cats here... A human foot is completely different.

Cats do indeed instinctually hide pain to avoid attention from predators. But they do this only for a short time. If a cat is in chronic pain, any caring observant owner will pick up on it.

  • I respect everyone's opinion for not declawing... But when done by a QUALIFIED vet and proper care is administered, declawing can safeguard your home, your children and you from the unpredictable clawings of cats... Cats don't "reason" they just react. I don't like it when people personify these animals. I have 3 beautiful, happy cats... all of which are declawed, inside only, play, climb, and are loved companions...

  • Just like the previous comments, if you cant look after your pet, DONT get one! People who do this are lame ass*****! If a were a creature superior to "you", i would chop your fingers off for doing this! This is the first time i ever heard such a procedure, and it is SICK! Dont "you" dare tell its not animal cruelty!
