If you have a kid in the MA public schools you'll soon find out how your parental rights have been taken away from you. Your Kindergardener will be required to read books such as King and King (a story about 2 men falling in love). Parents aren't even allowed to opt their kids out of that curriculum. Tolerance is a two way street. When it becomes a one way street it is tyranny, not tolerance.

If marriage is sacred, as I believe it is, then, Government should NOT even come close to touching it...lisencing, probate, registration,,,ALL of it should be gone. The problem is, the government makes too much money off of marriage...and, consequently, divorce.

Two points

1/No same sex marriage is giving reglion the right to make law. That is theocratic. That is unamerican. The first admendment is against therocracy america. Therefore banning same sex marriage is unconstitutional.

2/People have the right to love who they wish and spend the rest of their life ith who they wish. To ban it is mob rule. That is why it is a civil right.

"Two Points"

1- Government NOT being involved in ANY aspect of marriage affords the freedom for people to marry whoever they want.

2- We agree on your 2nd point, they already have the right to love each other, cohabbitate. They SHOULD have same treatment for insurance, hospital visitation..all of it. The solution is NOT more government involvement, it is less. Take away tax advantages for married people as well.

The big problem with the Maine system is that the opponents get to select the question - it should instead be - do you approve the legislation? not do you want to remove this legislation?

In a tight race like Maine the fact the people who want the law have to vote no does not make sense.

The phrasing has always been backwards for the People's Veto because of the title of the Article in Maine's Constitution, so they're always "Do you want to veto this bill?" when the actual wording of the article says that the questions should be phrased the other way around (or so I've been told).
