  • Why'd Sting have to go get all pompous and boring. The Police ROCKED!!!!

  • Why not take the meaning from the man himself (Sting): and then there's 'Peanuts', a quirky number not unlike Devo's 'Uncontrollable Urge', which Sting says is "about my disappointment with Rod Stewart, who became a big joke when he used to be a big hero." I think they refer to people like Rod Stewart as a "wanker" in England (i.e., A detestable person). Google this to get the skinny: 01.01.1979 - The Aquarian. Peace

  • I deleted my Facebook account after hearing this song.

I know it was written a while ago, but the lyrics have an awesome present-day parallel

  • More Peanuts please!

  • PEEAANUUTSS!!

  • Listen to that drum intro! Amazing!

  • johnglen51,dont think so,more about the pressure of fame and making it big in America.

  • this song is about bob dylan ,me thinks

  • @johnglen51

hahahaha.....crikey mate, that acid must be strong! ;)

  • Presumably no one knows what that weird instrument is. Perhaps Sting and Stewart would know as they are the ones who wrote this song.

  • @ClassicTVMan1981X its no doubt Stewart on a middle eastern reed/woodwind of some sort, a folk flute from the middle east where he grew up.

  • @wonkeaux

His true birthplace is here in the USA in Alexandria, VA - but shortly thereafter he and his family moved to Egypt (which is how some sources incorrectly list his place of birth as Alexandria, Egypt), and then to Beirut, Lebanon.

  • @wonkeaux Nah, it's a melodica, same thing the Hooters used.

  • very underrated tune

    one their very best ones

  • LI TROVO DAVVERO MERAVIGLIOSI

  • Saw them a few years ago with Elvis...best concert EVER! Sting came out and did Allison with Elvis.....My aim is true!

  • Ahhh....memories seeing them in Austin, TX--outdoor concert during their Synchronicity tour of 1984. UB40 was the opening band...I'll NEVER forget that concert!!

  • @ramie6901 I accidentially downvoted you, im sorry D=>

  • It still blows my mind a band with only 3 members could make such incredible music...Timeless...

  • No matter how much my life is fucked ,this track is always there.

  • SAW THEM IN 1978 AT THE DOME IN BRIGHTON LOVE EM

  • @MrJessie1964 so lucky. I'm 21 and was so born in wrong time period. Hope you never forget your experience.

  • LOVE the bass line!!!!!

  • Lol at 3:20

  • this is rock n roll

  • Stewart copeland is awesome.

  • giraffes my as. happy fest 2010

  • The Police was one of all time favourites ws sooo obesessed about 3 decades ago.

  • there,s very few songs from The Police that i don,t like, such an amazing band!

  • Look at the current state of the media, all the celebrity news, distracting us from the real news that the huge media corporations won't tell us!

It's a ridiculous media "circus" indeed, keeping us stupid!

Enjoy some "Peanuts" while the TV makes you dumber!

    Great song!

  • Love this album love this tune. Never heard of them til´ my dad put on this album in his car(the cd is stuck in the radio =D ). Fuckin incredible

  • @wiggedywack could you still play when it was stuck?

  • @ambinautic Yeah, why not? the cd is stuck not broken.

  • @wiggedywack Freakin awesome!!!!!!!!

  • @wiggedywack how is this incredible? it seems to suck hard ass

  • @caseyface3 You know what you need kid? No, not a dose of your crappy Justin Bieber but a good dose of Cancer.

  • Hey, K1...it's a song about being fed up with tabloid journalism and celebrity antics. He blames fame and the falsity of celebrity both with ruining people (by rendering them divas) and creating prurient interest by the public in those antics (perpetuating crappy press). "Peanuts" is the implied vendors call to the crowd as he vends snacks to those watching said "circus."

    Hope that helped! :^D

  • @Grymmorgan Yerp. Too bad it happened to Sting himself......And Copeland I suppose. Which is funny because they co-wrote the song! XD

  • Could anyone please tell me what the meaning of this song is? I mean i can read the lyrics but I don't catch the meaning...anyone please lift the secret :)

  • ca l'est !

  • Peanuts!!!! Peanuts!!!!! PEAnuts!!!

  • wow, should have been on rock band

  • The solois Andy's take on the Coltrane "sheets of sound" technique, and the hooting noise sounds like a melodica.

  • @Theunion538 Yep, leave it to Andy to put a Coltrane moment in a punk song!

  • Great song, great album, great band.

A band where every member was a key member.

  • Summers got toned down a lot though...

    it sucksssss

  • I love the Police - Grazie Shirley !

  • bElLa lA FoTiTo!!!!! diTe wIsKy!!!!!!!

  • PrOdTtO ITaLiAnO!!!

  • chevere le fotito!!!!!!

  • you really need to hear this loud on a bigass stereo like back in the '70's....

  • One of my favorites from this album and the Police in general. I wonder if the title (and delivery) was inspired by that scene from "Duck Soup."

  • witchespoint... back when the album was released, their first, it was hard to tell what was going to sell. 'roxanne' was obvious but "can't stand losing you" wasn't a big one for them here in Oz. really for the variations of styles and classic sound, the album is pretty legendary.

peanuts was one of my favs off the album (obviously) but then i like a bit of crazy energetic music. have fun all :o)

  • I concur with Aussie - sorry witch but yer out ta lunch !

  • good song but a funny solo

  • Have never listen to this before.

  • AINT IT AWESOME !!??!?!?

  • In there top 3 best tunes, no question

  • Takes me back 25 years.

  • I love this song! Why isn't it a billion times more popular?!

  • Because it's not "marketable". The most awesome songs rarely are.

  • it should be, yes!!! I don't understand wich part ppl don't like....???

  • man, i just love police songs

    they've got something special..

  • @gabrieljardine Very true.

  • Somebody is selling peanuts at the end.

  • no..hes saying peanuts loudly so he dosent have to listen to the plans there makin drugs there takin etc.....

  • 2bsom1... "hes saying peanuts loudly so he dosent have to listen to the plans there makin drugs there takin etc....."

it's also about feeding the 'monkeys' peanuts. that's all they feed us (being the gen pop).

this song was awesome for me as a young teen and the album was great.

    have fun all :o)

  • I love this song...And have the album....!:)
