I have to disagree with Mr. Station here. That random ice-cream bar grabbing said nothing to me of the consumerism of Korea. It simply threw off the movement of the film. As far as I am conerned, the climax here occurs at the "small talk with the clerk" scene. Cunningly done! It demonstrates how we are all longing for someone to know us, even in a land where we are unknown.

The scene where the protagonist grabs a handful of Hershey ice-cream bars without warning or explanation really highlights the rise of rampant consumerism in Asia. It is a powerful comment on emerging social trends handled in an artful manner. Kudos!
