Well said jlg420, they also block reprocessing and storage efforts, then say that the waste problem hasn't been addressed.
Anti-nuke people, forget greenpeace and embrace science based realistic solutions to environmental problems. This means nuclear, solar, wind NOW. Being wrong doesn't make you stupid, but refusing to change when you are shown to be wrong does. Come back from March 29, 1979 and join us here in 2008.
no, but it would give her some credibility with people who can think objectively
being an activist and an expert are two completely different things. the stories i could tell about berkeley and LBNL...
long story short, these people have little to no background in science, and they tell people what they want to hear. they take the words of a fictional story to be the absolute scientific truth
The question w the safety violations is if its ok to allow construction to go on when requirements arent met and even the regulator say the number of violations is so large that some might slip through. The violations in e.g. welding have gone on for years now in Olkiluoto which shows our call for stricter measures was in place: the measures STUK has taken havent put an end to cutting corners. We also commissioned a report on the problems from a PhD with plenty of experience in nuke construction
aren't there people who have PhDs and experience in biology who believe in creationism?
even if your ringer has a PhD in nuclear engineering it's not a matter of his opinion. it's a matter of the scientific community laughing at his opinion
Its certainly not ethical discussion, its civil engineering or more like energy engineering discussion. Ethical discussions are like "is gay marriage wrong?".
An ethical discussion concerning civil engineering? Yes, it would. Sorry, I didn't mean to poke the embers of this one, but I just couldn't let that one go.

Its so funny watching greenpeace blockades. Especially when the founder of greenpeace is now a pro nuclear lobbist.

Greenpeace does everything it can to disrupt new plant construction, and then they yell and scream about delays and cost overruns.

I don't see her Ph.D in civil engineering anywhere.

a Ph.D in civil engineering wouldn't do much to qualify you to participate in an ethical discussion, does it?

this is an ethical discussion. is it better to put nuclear science in the hands of political idealists or credentialed nuclear scientists?
