I came 'round to thank you for subscribing (and so, you know, THANKS!) but had to mention too that that bird is gorgeous. Although I think I'd be creeped out by it flapping around my head while I was trying to sleep.
my old bird use to ring it's bell at 7AM sharp everyday. Perfect alarm clock. Then he'd watch the flinstones with me when I ate breakfast. Good times.
LOL :My green cheek conure does the same thing my mom will often put him on my bed if she wants to wake me up without me getting mad, he'll usually walk all over my head and back much like yours and make that little noise until I wake up or at least pet him. They're persistent little things. But such great companions :).
My jenday does the EXACT same thing with me. Just runs around over my head and bed but understands that I'm sleeping. At that point though you're always aware that your bird is on the bed with you, no matter how deep of a sleep your in.
awwwwwww sooo cute! love the babies but they grow up lol. i had a nanday conure, loved her to pieces but boy was she loud! She kept "watch" over the house if anyone came near it (including the mailman) she'd warn us all that danger was approaching! Now i have a african grey and love him (or her) or pieces!
@Tsubakiee Are you for real? Now I'm sad cause few days ago I left a deposit for a baby sun conure and he will be coming home after weaned in about 4 weeks. But I'm so scared he will be too loud. How bad it is, because i live in one apartment and I do not want to make no one mad.
Jupiter and you have an amazing relationship, it reminds me of the bond i shared with my sun conure lewis. i didnt keep lewis in a cage so he would also cuddle/ try to wake me up every morning. BUT BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS! 2 years ago i woke up one morning to find that i had rolled over and smothered lewis in my sleep. it was a terrible way to lose my best friend, and i would hate to even imagine something like that happening to anyone else

AWWww i mis mine she use to do that too but she would push her way under the covers n walk around under the blanket instead haha. you have a Very cute bird !
Home breeders don't always put bands on the legs. Some breeders think that it can break their legs if you leave a band on. But the banded sun conures have the most tracible history in case you have to prove you bought your legally bred sun conure in the US and it wasn't smuggled here out of it's natural habitat which can lead to your bird being confiscated or destroyed.
OMG, mine does the same thing except she pinches and runs away as if you can't figure out she did it. You can't take a nap unless she's napping and when she sleeps she snores and grumbles when she dreams. So funny lol
He does scream now (very loudly), lol. He has a girlfriend now also and they both chime in and make sure we know they want their grapes and apples in the morning.
Once the parrot is familiar with you, whether you move or not they know you. Jupiter will watch me sleep and not vocalize to wake me up. He seems to understand who I am and I'm tired. Once I open my eyes though, oh boy he can't wait for attention and fun.
Watching your eyes is a consideration to be mindful of when dealing with a parrot close to your face. But with time and getting to know the parrot, you will feel at ease. A good tame parrot will not strike your eyes, but it is a good idea to always be mindful of the distance and potential. After all, it only takes 1 strike to lose your sight, and that is what needs to be avoided. As for me personally, Jupiter has never done any strikes, but that doesn't mean I'm not careful.
my sun loves to preen my eye lashes and eye brows i read in a book before i bought her that when they preen there owners its a sign of affection and you should be honored and return the favor she enjoys when i remove the pin from around her new feathers :)
It is a sign of affection (I love it), but if your sun hurts you, let her know, simply react. She won't learn otherwise, just as she lets you know when you try to open a pin-feather that isn't ready. Snuggles are awesome, aren't they!
@fleshtheworld - Birds only strike when they feel threatened, hungry, or are just annoyed. Your eyes are safe, birds only go for the eyes when they are thirsty.
every morningat exactly 7:02, mango the jenday conure squawks loud over and over until I go get her out of her cage, then I hold a napkin under her and say go puty, and she poops on the napkin then she goes inside my robe and cuddles while I drink coffee and watch Fox news.
My conure actually sleeps with me. If I happen to over sleep, she knows it and at about 10 minutes past my "get up" time, she'll come up to my face, give me kisses and tell me "all done". As in, all done sleeping. She'll keep doing it until I speak to her, then I get an excited "hi" and our day begins. Conures are one of the best birds you can get! Loving, playful and extremely interactive with their "peoplebirds". :)
We've been doing this for almost two years now, she's well versed in the art of rolling with me, lol. Trust me, it's always in the back of my mind even when I sleep to know where she is at all times (I'm a very light sleeper). I actually have two conures sleeping with me now. Her buddy Brooks is quite attached to her and doesn't like to be without her and she is just as attached to me as ever so, now I share the bed with the both of them.
LOL I know what you mean. I'm not that light of a sleeper but I occasionally can pull off a night or two. I roll around a bunch so I was a little nervous the first time I slept with my sun conure. I couldn't bring myself to take her from the comfortable position she found in my hair (on my shoulder). Long story short, she survived. Now I only do it when I'm not that tired or when she is in a good enough mood. ^__^
Well the sleeping with me has changed since I last posted. Neither of them are sleeping with me now as I've found out that it's the sleeping under the sheets and blankets that has caused their head feathers to fall out. It's been about a month and their feathers are growing in again. Just thought I'd share this with you so you can keep from having your little one sleep with you too much.
My GCC isn't allowed out of his cage until we wake up, but he starts in the morning: "Step up", and sqeaking like a dog toy until we wake up. He also says "Hi, Ernie". (His name) My lovebird comes into the room, crawls up in bed and cuddles & goes 2 sleep on my husband's neck.
Hello, my baby does same thing every morning!.. you know he is a bird so wakes up early... He comes flying to my bed and keep saying his name or says Peekaboo.. until I open my eyes. He loves to come under the blanket and snuggle..
All up in your face, literally!

I dont know much about birds but is it safe not to worry at all about your eyes especially with a bird with a beak that size.
