On the other hand the UZ was made with everyday use in mind for mid to full size sedans and one or two SUV's, that's why its not as big (displacement wise) 5.7+L isn't necessary for daily driving. You could easily modify the engine to exceed what it does from the factory, but that's up to you. Hell this engine is popular because of its small displacement and potential.

Displacing more exhaust through the same size turbo will spin it up faster, but playing with the plumbing on an existing engine/turbo setup can optimise that. Spooling the expander takes so long 'cos you're waiting for it to feed back through from the increased compression - kinda why sequential 'charging got so popular with the fixed geo. turbos back in the 90s...
The higher the differential between pressure on the inlet side of the turbo is to the outlet side of the turbo the faster it will spin and the more boost it will make so a car with less back pressure will make more boost earlier.
