Joe is a guitar god on the "electrified Dobro (it may not be a true Dobro but sure as hell has the appearance of a new electrified version)" using the bottle neck he is king. Damn, Eric Czar is just on when it comes to driving the bottom out of the song on bass. I bow to the bands greatness. Just wish Czar and Joe would get back together.
Why is the"crowd" so calm? How can you stand around like a damn scarecrow?! Bonamassa puts so much energy into his performance; I'd fucking destroy that place!
The river is a perfect place to lose your soul. This song is the best slide song I've heard in years. Joe is truly one of favorite blues musicians ever!
This is the best slide guitar tone I have ever heard, Joe's not my favourite slide player, his strengths lie elsewhere, but shit, that sound is intoxicating
superb audio/video from Rockpalast and one of the best living guitar players..this is exquisite stuff..make sure to listen to Joe's Burning Hell from Rockpalast too
This concert beats the Royal Albert Hall concert, and that concert was one of the greatest live concerts ever. IMHO. I just love the energy this 3 piece puts out.
I've been waiting a long time for someone who can do the following:
1. Lay down rock, rock blues and blues tunes that will have you picking your jaw up off the floor. 2. Absolutely rip apart the fretboard by applying multilple techniques and blazing chops (this guy is NOT a one trick pony) from song to song and even within a song. 3. Have a voice that supports his guitar work AND can sing within the framework of multiple styles (rock, blues, rock blues etc..). JOE BONAMASSA is the REAL DEAL!!!
I grew up with this music. Zep, Sabbath, Hendrix, Deep Purple, Clapton, Chicken Shack, Creme etc,etc I saw a video of Joe when he was 12 and thought maybe this CAN continue. Guess What!!. Joe is rockin the house with the style and taking it to the next evolution. There IS hope! Buy all the albums you can get and see all the concerts you can see. The memories serve you well in later years, trust me. This guy is a one of a kind. Support the man and enjoy the music.
I'm not sure why more people don't love Joe's vocals. I do. Black Country Communion's singer is rediculous, like Humble Pie live at the filmore. But I prefer Joe being the frontman still. Maybe if BCC does this song, we can compare vocals? I do agree this slide work is amongst the best I've ever seen.
I really wish Joe's voice was stronger, or he just got someone to straight up sing for him. This song needs a vocal powerhouse, and that's just not Joe.
That being said I'd kill to lay down slide like that.
Yes I fully agree, this is who Stevie Ray passed the blues torch to. Brother you can come hang with me and the rest of the Delta Blues rats anytime bluesman ! This is one cat that did not have to go to the crossroads, nor make no deal. He was born with the gift !!
did he have a van down by the river? also if he died down by the river than how is he still alive singing? I don't appreciate some one who lies in there music.
@samueladamdonahue You are an idiot. Since when have all songs been autobiographical? Oh, sorry. I'm sure thats too big of word for you. Instead of making comments about music you clearly don't like, let alone understand, how bout you go back to your Air Supply and Culture Club cassettes, and finish up your wine and cheese platter before your book club gets there. Douchebag.
@ccbunn1968 all the good song's are true(or at lest come from a true experience). also, nothing made my day better than to read your reply...haha Where would this country be with out people like you? ( people who don't have a good point so they spend the whole time handing out insults)
@17Hongo yes but probably won't be heard of by the mainstream..... because they like to listen to cats fucking god awful music. NO Offense to them of course.
@17Hongo i can understand the comment in the fact that he is a great and influential player. but i don't think SRV is a fair judgement of this guy, he's kinda in a field all to himself,
@nikgottheblues What you say is true, although Joe's influences can be seen clearly in his earlier work - this one carries a certain similarity to Jimmy Page. What is also true is that Joe Bonamasssa is probably the new top dog in the Blues genre - just as the late great Stevie Ray was before him.
this guy rocks man

Awesome song, but I really can't help but wonder... where's the slide solo that precedes the song?
DoubleCrossedPaths 7 months ago
all of you you are ignorants. this song is the quasi-copy of led zeppelin song "when the levee breaks" which is an awesome song by the way
Ryryguitarist 8 months ago
@Ryryguitarist I think you’re the ignorant one, Led Zeppelin stole the song from Kansas Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie…
