  • Khyenno噶玛巴!

    噶玛巴的Krazy指挥官

  • Mantap, Gw Suka!!

  • nice video, very infomative

  • Whether he is the real karmapa is no longer important. I think people should look beyond the superficial front and think deep. Instead of guessing and doubting whether he is the real one, why can't you think in terms of karmic relationship. he is now a recognized karmapa and even if he wasn't born to be one, its his karma to undergo this role and be a model for people...he earned this title from his previous good deeds/karma...

  • your video is cool

  • Great video!

  • Wow so much information

  • poor translater gets data overload from karmapa .. but tyler dewar is doing a great job , the guy is a genius translating this much .. very impressive performance .

  • This is very interesting

  • he´s not the real one - he´s not even nice at all!

  • Great stuff (information)

  • Can anybody, especially an experienced practitioner, explain why, a person who has had so much of the "enlightened" experience or knowledge, appears to be kind of depressed, sad, lonely, etc? What use is enlightened knowledge and experience if it's highest representatives don't appear to be at all happy? I am not just a casual observer, but one who has been seeking to understand and practice Eastern paths for some time and am genuinely questioning all of it at this point. What's really going on?

  • @nextari There is no temporary enlightenment. And individuals who claim they're enlightened are not. Being in nirvana can be temporary. If they appear depressed, sad, lonely etc, they're not enlightened. The first thing most enlightened ones do when they achieved enlightenment, is laugh. Laughing because it was in front of them all the time.

  • @RifetOkic Please kindly repost this as a statement, and not as a reply to my question, as it does not address it. And factually I have heard it said that people who suffered severe austerities can appear to be bitter while enlightened. FYI Nirvana is the end of suffering, not a state of bliss, and it is permanent.

  • @nextari Well all those people including you and me are just interpreting books and old teachings.

We just know from that experience. And to answer you're question, it doesn't matter that they don't appear to be happy. You have seen different one's then me it seems. Does the Dalai Lama not look happy, or at ease, compassionate, using words carefull. Why even question it, as you seem to have some distrust..

  • @RifetOkic Please do not speak for me, saying I am interpreting books. You should not speak of another's experience. Especially when you don't know them, or know who they are, and have never seen them or spoke to them, and are probably from a different culture entirely. I think people should be careful who they follow. Your words show that you are a novice wishing to spread positivity, without realization. Please do not address me further.

  • @nextari Since a few days i finally have a master.. I must say, he really does know people.. Because he saw directly through my questions, the first one i had was; How can u recognize a enlightened one? He knew, i was asking; Could enlightenment happen to me? He said, in everyone there is a part of you, the better you know yourself, the better you know others.

Life is no mystery to solve.. but a reality to experience. He said

    *Namaste*

  • @RifetOkic Please be very careful. It is very easy to appear as a master to a novice. People are fundamentally the same, so someone who has a bit more self awareness may appear as "a master" to another. And someone who shows you a little love, even divine love,is not a master for that simple fact. We all want the same things. Peace Love Joy Freedom. That is our nature. Someone who knows this can manipulate others even without having these things themself.

  • @nextari All the doubts you're having, obviously you're still seeking for the ultimate truth or else you wouldn't be who you are. This goes the same to this Karmapa. He is a human being afterall my dear friend. And we wouldn't say he is fully enlightened, because only the enlightened one wouldn't go through the rebirth. If one is fully enlightened and reach nirvana, one will become Buddha. The fact is he is still a human like all of us (continued)...

  • @nextari the fact that he is a human being like all of us means that there's more obstacles, or sufferings in buddhist terms that he had to go through (of cos obviously he's of a higher level than most of us becos he has been practicing). In another words, he had to take in all his karma before he gets out of rebirth cycle and move to nirvana. im also a practitioner and this is how i interpret the ans to your qns, and buddhism is much deeper than this and im still learning too...

  • @snowygurl87 According to buddhist doctrine, a bodhisattva is one who returns untill every blade of grass is enlightened. And an avatar, in hinduism, is a god realized being who manifests without karma to work out, for the simple reason of bestowing grace upon others.

I believe the Karmapa is thought to be a bodhisattva.

  • @nextari When someone like his HH says he's depressed etc, he is not so like us, because the ego grip we put on such feelings is absent with him. It's a much much lighter sense of loneliness etc than for us. Btw, samsara means "turning round in circles", being trapped. His Holiness is never trapped

  • Real Karmapa wouldn't talk that much about him self... this is just meaningless!

  • is he the real karmapa? hmmm... let me see if he has any photos with the Dalai Lama...that should answer the question... i'm just going to GOOGLE " karmapa and dalai lama" and see if i can find any photos of them together : ) USE YOUR BRAIN PEOPLE ...its not that hard to connect the dots

  • KARMAPA learnt chinese as we, romanian people were forced by the occupying Russia to learn russian in schools..shame on those who make disgusting comments about the karmapa..KARMAPA KHENNO!

  • I think that if the Karmapa speaks Enlish WE would not be able to listen to the beautyfull Tibetan Language...i`m sure he has a good reason to do so.

Let`s not kill the messenger, (smile)

  • Such a borring theater play. This ``Chinese candidate`` plays very well political games))

  • Such a borring theater play

  • if he was a real karmapa, he would know it since his birth, this is an IDEA of reincarnation of tulku....

and very useful teachings, btw!!! hihihi

  • @bithoraxx Really? Because Buddha never knew he would become a Buddha when he was a prince and was so protected by his parents in the kingdom. It was only when he was exposed to the sufferings of the world one day that he decided to seek the 'truth' in life...

  • haha, very useful teachings!!! hihihi

  • HA HA :D he exposed himself ! :D he said that his parents told him that he is karmapa. while real karmapas always identify them selfs at very young age. so case closed :P

  • Long live His Holiness the 17 Gyalwang Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorjee lak :-) This Handsome Karmapa is Real Karmapa :-)

  • This Handsome HH

  • I came in just to see myself the other chinese Karmapa candidate, but .... I do not feel here a real presence or a real tantric maha master..... For me the real Karmapa is the 17 Karmapa Thaye Dorje, , whom I have had a big honor to meet and feel personally and I know for sure is a very energically powerfull yogi, great teacher and men and with nice heartily smile....

Karmapa Chenno, long life to Karmapa Thaye Dorje!

  • a letter dated april 2011 was sent by the followers of Thaye Dorje to the HHDL. shouldn't karma kagyu affairs be resolved within themselves. Do you think HHDL should be involved?

read the letter at dorjeshugden(dot)com news section

  • ... and every second this loving connection grows stronger ...

  • This real Karmapa is putting himself into difficult situation. And only real Karmapa knows how to deal with his obstacles.

  • I believe he is real karmapa.

  • wow. all these people feel like he is a fake.

I hope all these hateful thinkings are not misguided : (

i dont want to hear the facts.

i think the man is doing what he thinks is best.

    is he not?

he is young, compared to older wiser men. he is on his way.

  • I believe that the 17th Karmapa reincarnation, Trinley Thaye Dorje, is in fact a Chinese fake (he lookes Chinese) and I can say this because I have lived in China for a decade. He is not responding to questions ad hoc.

Strange that this is possible at all, as the situation at hand just proves that mistakes are made.

To address theses people as holiness or else is so wrong!

  • I believe that the 17th Karmapa reincarnation, Trinley Thaye Dorje is a Chinese fake. He is not responding to questions ad hoc.

Strange that this is possible at all, as the situation at hand just proves that mistakes are made.

  • I believe that the 17th Karmapa reincarnatio, Trinley Thaye Dorje is a chinese fake. He is not Tibetan...

  • So, let's get this straight.. this Karmapa is a fake, installed by the communist, atheist Chinese, to bring down the genuine Karma Kagyu lineage, all because Ole Nydahl is considered a joke by the Kagyus not connected to Shamar Rinpoche and his entourage?

  • Buddhas teachings, tolerance compassion, no ill towards one each other, good to remember this I think.

  • Buddhas teachings, tolerance compassion, no ill

  • This guy is really the consummate politician. He knows exactly what to say to impress the American liberals. The stuff about the Bamyan Buddhas makes me embarrassed to be a Buddhist. He's turning Buddhism into liberal populism.

  • No, *I* am the revered Tibetan figure, reincarnated. He is a poser. I'm the true one.

    That's how baseless assertions work.

Maybe it's nice that TED participants get a break from things like facts and thinking?

Mystical + Tibet = Impressed Americans.

  • Learn the truth. JOYOFSATAN,COM

  • STFU and wash those filthy muddy greasy ears and LISTEN!!

  • Which Karmapa? Show the proof that all Tibetans were involved!

  • For all Tibetans and Tibetan supporters in India. India wont be a paradise to you any more. You had shown your true colors. illegal money laundering, land scam, spying.. Lead by your great SPIRITUAL LEADER Karmapa. I has been clear that the Tibetans are involved in Anti - India Activities.. This is just tip of iceberg.

Leave India voluntarily before you are kicked out.

  • @gratewite yes i do agree with you. these fucking tibbtans shuld be kicked out of the country. they are really enemy to our internal sequrity...

  • @gratewite It is not so simple. The Chinese politics did most of things you wrote. In Europe we know the whole situation too. It is nothing to do with Karmapa. People from Tibet are just people like the others. It is a huge mistake that Karmapa's name is involved in it. Google for Karmapa's paper. That is why in Europe we support more that another Karmapa who wasn't involved in any politics or tries of stealing treasures form Rumtek. It is a shame because the Buddha's teachings are so fantasic.

  • @Wyga23 I am not here to debate on Lord Buddhas teachings. My only concern is about the so claimed followers and spiritual leaders who bring shame to what Buddha had thought. And of course the innocent brainwashed people who had surrendered their commonsense and the ability to think and debate to those leaders. If Karmapa is wrongly implicated, then let him come out show the proof and give explanation on what had happened. Till then i don't need any advocates.

  • @gratewite THANK YOU. YOU HAVE READ THEM CORRECTLY :)

  • This is an impostor, appointed to the Chinese.

  • Hey wyge23, I am Indian but believe in buddhist. Karma ? Don't Dominate to guru . I am very shame to u because u r Tibetan . Most Tibetan plp r believe in karma .(lay)

  • @ratnakhan11 What are you talking about? Is it a joke? I am not Tibetan. Karma? The cause and effect chain? It is nothing to believe, lol, it is just the process like thermodynamics or gravity law. Do you believe in gravity or you just accept it as the law?

  • Listen from 14:50 and just replace buddha statues by Twin Towers!

  • This is an impostor.

  • It is very important how people communicate. Although it is enough to compare those two Karmapas. Just watch this clip and then search for "Karmapa - the four seals of dharma" here on you tube. English and communication are the parts of spreading Dharma. It is just opinion and everyone can have one. So I see Chinese Karmapa and his saddness is the result of manipulation of chinese politics. Comparing to another Karmapa it is a huge difference. Sorry! That interpreter makes the image even worse.

  • I am writing the piece is for guy wyga23 who thinks Karmapa should speak English. First of all I would like to say that that speaking English is not important. If you are English man yes..you can since this is your first language. Otherwise any other citizens of any nations, the very important thing is to your own language and culture. Speaking english is one of the easiest thing in the world. Even many beggers who never been to school in India and china speak fluent english.

  • Thats why its not big deal. What i am saying here that when Karmapa doesn't speak English to public, it doesn't mean he doesn't know English, Of course he know how to speak English and perhaps he can speak better them him. Therefore, for him first is Tibetan language since Tibetan language is the only language to refer to study Buddhist teachings better and deeper beside Sanskrit. English is a collection of many different languages

  • A Lot of time they use Sanskrit words or Tibetan words because they don't have words in English. Even Dalai lama when ever he gives public talks, he always start in Tibetan language. Thats why there is reason why Karmapa pretend not to speak English. I am very sad with the boy Thaye Dorjee, who is appointed by Sharmapa group as a Karmapa without any significant reason and proper way of recognizing tulkus

  • Thats why we have may fake tulkus todays, who does crazy things on the name of tulkus. Which is very bad and ruins entire Tibetan Buddhist communities. So the boy Thaye always speak broken English, I guess he forgot his first language Tibetan. May be he is not Tibetan, could be Bhutanese or Nepali.

So use your own brain, investigate the fact behind reality and then say something. Otherwise there is no other stupid than you in this world.

  • The Karmapa does know how to speak English. It's not the time for Him to

use it yet. He may need perfecting it more. Next visit to the USA, He will marvel us more. Have you seen the DVDs of the Karmapa's 2008 visit NY,

Boulder, and Seattle? Please do watch them. Great lectures.

  • I think that chinese Karmapa should learn and speak English like Dalai Lama or another Karmapa from free world. I wonder when China will stop breaking human rights.

  • @Wyga23 "I think that chinese Karmapa should learn and speak English like Dalai Lama or another Karmapa from free world. I wonder when China will stop breaking human rights.

    Wyga23 6 months ago 8 *thumbs up*"

I believe that the human spirit is true to say that oppression should always halt its forced denial of human rights. but to say that one person should conform to this language or learn that method to better this group or that nation, is a false idea. a counteractive step towards peace.

  • @spiritualinsight So you say that people who want to study Dharma should learn Chinese or Tibetan? Look! If someone is bodhisattva, he/she should be interested in spreading Buddha's teachings when people need this. So I am not certain if it is true or false. I know that english language is spoken in most Western Tibetan Buddhism Centres.

  • @Wyga23 please define human rights

  • @vivspring Wikipedia should be ok to start researches for oneself

  • @vivspring no,your definition of human rights. not what someone else says :)

  • @vivspring Stop this game! If I write definition, you'll start the discussion. I have got no time for it. We both know China breaks human rights. I will tell you the definition of human rights. 13 year old girls sterilised In Tibet to exterminate small nation, people imprisoned for years without being sentenced and their only "guilt" was mentioning the word "freedom of speech" and the list is very long. Who was sentenced for Tiananmen square massacre? "0", still it is not safe to mention it.

  • @Wyga23 he is the recognized Tibetan Karmapa who escaped from China and now lives in India. FYI

  • Comment removed

  • @sub4tune He is recognised by Chinese manipulations, money and corruption. When politics is involved, nothing remains pure, even Karmapa. Read about whole situation, bribing judges, "faked" demonstrations, chinese money on accounts, stolen relics from Rumtek etc. Browse karmapa-papers and if you follow news from trial, you will understand much more. Btw! There are 2 Karmapas, and we will see soon who is the one. One is certain, Chinese interfered and messed up again. Peace!

  • @Wyga23 Ogyen Trinley Dorje, the 17th Karmapa Lama was born in rural Tibet and is of ethnic Tibetan descent. He is not Chinese. To all those who hear his words and are affected by his presence, Tashi delek!

  • How silly is that?

  • Sorry, but this is a big circus, this is silly? Who wants to see this?

  • Thank you so much for whoever posted this. It is very nice for me to be able to find this material!

  • It cannot be that a supposedly highly achieved Buddhist teacher, the Buddha-Statuen of Bamiyan calls a sort of symbol of the suppression and justifies, therefore, the destruction of the Buddha-Statuen by the Taliban as a sort of freeing blow. This is embarrassing!

  • @Dissimul Truth is based on the individual. On the whole, whether religion is TRUE or NOT,is not the issue.Religion, whether set down by a higher being(s) or invented by people (probably the latter) is simply a template that has been invented to create order in our lives. Many humans need this confirmation to justify existence. God(s) or not. For many humans, atheist rhetoric doesn't work, because they need a reason to exist. Many of these people are ruled by superstition and fear. even today

  • @Dissimul

No, it really doesn't, because ultimately it comes down to whether not God or gods actual exist, which you can't prove either way, and then it dissolves into one giant pissing contest.

  • His holiness?

  • @jjhjjff - No Jihads !

  • Okay, this is a nice talk, thank you!

  • Karmapa Kheno -^-

  • How He could compered destroying of buddha statue 2000 years old world heritage to destroying Berlin wall. It is like one could say that destroying of twin towers and killing 5000 people is as good as liberation of Auschfitz concentration camp. His students must feel uncomfortable. I can not imagine 16th Karmapa saying such a thing.

  • @tsumiageta He's saying that it compares as a symbol of a divide that was destroyed. Just as the Berlin Wall was providing a physical divide, the statues we causing a spiritual divide.

If the statues were proving to cause that much consternation to the Muslim people of Afghanistan, then it is better that they were destroyed than continue to be a divisive issue between peoples.

He is choosing to use a positive framework to view the destruction so as to not foster hatred in his heart.

  • What's going on with Tyler Dewar (the translator)? He seems to be High or sexualy aroused! :|

  • @GargantuanLifeform99

    Religion is child abuse.

    You apologist.

  • Karmapa? Is he like a DJ or something?

  • Please do research before you comments, this is the real karmapa recognise by both the DalaiLama and the Chinese government. It was an embarrassment when to the Chinese government when he fled China.

  • And people say Buddhism is the only religion without frauds.

  • So much intolerance directed towards a man simply calling for tolerance.

  • Isn't this fake chinese Karmapa?

  • the technology of the heart? like an ipod controlled by the beating signals from the heart to select certain mood songs? my god... this just might work

  • Comment removed

  • My reason for disliking is the interpreter...it wud ve been better if Karmapa could talk in english...or may be get a better interpreter

  • Isn't he handsome, as well as sweet and holy?

  • @islomane1 sooo gay

  • I think this talk lacked flow

  • I have one serious question, whatever language he's speaking, does it not have the words "intelligence", "design" "thechnologiy", and all those words that he said in english?

  • @BornWhiteSupremacy

I really hope you are just being satirical. If you believe the bibble is any less superstitious then you need your head examined!

  • I find it OFFENSIVE to have another human referred to as "his holiness".

It implies that the rest of us are beneath and inferior to him (not as "holy"), when in fact he is just an ignorant mystic that promotes dangerous superstition.

"His Holiness" can go fuck himself.

  • @themsfightinwoids word up

  • @themsfightinwoids

Research is your friend, you used tampon.

  • @EffortlessPopsicle Where did I dis "research"? Do you think "research" will lead one to conclude that "his holiness" has a supernatural link to a magic creator? Really?!?

Morons who pretend to have esoteric knowledge of an undetectable celestial superman, as you apparently do, are just children that refuse to grow up.

Go read your bibble or whatever other pacifier you lap at to make you feel special. Your god's teat awaits.

  • @TheAnniepies

My comment was directed at themsfightinwoids. And no, numbnuts, I wasn't saying that research would lead one to the conclusion that religion is correct. Rather I was implying that research would give him a better understanding about where the title His Holiness comes from, and what it actually implies.

No where did I was religious. No where did I say that religion was correct. Keep throwing ad hominems. Keep spreading ignorance. It's adorable. Your ego's teat awaits.

  • @EffortlessPoop

    1. I am themsfightinwoids too.

    2. I made a valid comment questioning the appropriateness of calling a certain cleric "holy", and which had NOTHING to do with you. YOU took it upon yourself to reply "Research is your friend, you used tampon". Then I replied to question what your RUDE comment suggests (that research leads us to recognize religion as credible), and then you reply that I (!) use ad hominems (despite you using one FIRST). You clearly lack basic rational capacity.

  • @TheAnniepies

    1) Cool story, bro.

    2) If you're going to get offended at rude comments, maybe you should avoid saying someone should go fuck himself when he's giving a rather peaceful message that TED found worthy. And you questioned nothing. You assumed. On top of this, I used no ad hominems; rather I made a basic statement. Research is everyone's friend, regardless of whether or not people actually use it. In regards to your first post, it reeks of ignorance that you are so quick to put down.

  • @EffortlessPopsicle Calling someone a used tampon is both an ad hominem (a perasonal insult) AND juvenile. It borders on misogynistic too.

  • @TheAnniepies

Ad hominems are fallacies that one tries to pass off as truth. Literally you are not a tampon. Metaphorically, your hypocrisy stinks as much as a used one. There's nothing misogynistic about saying that used tampons are unpleasant. Most women would agree. At the very least, I can speak for myself.

  • @TheAnniepies

Finally, you are human. Therefore, you will always be ignorant. /I/ will always be ignorant. There is no truly correct philosophy to life, but only morals and the society each individual grows up in make it so. So you are - perhaps worse - than His Holiness when it comes to the lack of humility. To be so quick to condemn a man and a religion is caustic at best.

    Tampon.

  • @EffortlessPoop

You state that humans are ignorant yet you are comfortable telling someone else that you know better than him. Can we think for ourselves or not? If yes, then I am entitled to my opinion that it is obviously ridiculous to call another human "holy". To take offense at that is childish and you have not explained why the guy should be considered morally superior to the rest of us. You religious apologists are SO retarded.

  • @TheAnniepies

I never said I knew better than you, did I? It was you who implied that you knew better than religious folk, because obviously they have nothing decent to offer to the world or a scholar community. And nothing is obvious save for your poor opinion of any sort of religion. If one calls the man His Holiness of their own free will, and are perfectly content to do so, are they to be condemned, too, in your infinite wisdom? And for one who preaches about me being childish,

  • @TheAnniepies

, throwing around the word retarded as an insult is rather detrimental. And, again, I never said he was morally superior. I'm not arguing for that. I'm arguing for moral equality and tolerance, which I have no doubt is what you're convinced you're arguing for. We can think for ourselves. That's the great thing about mankind. The only downfall of it is that people often fail to turn scrutiny on themselves and the words they preach. I am not an apologist, just against stupid.

  • @Effortless "I'm arguing for moral equality and tolerance"

If you truly support "moral equality", you would understand why it is absurd to endorse titles like "His Holiness". The implication of that title is undeniable.

It is high time that clerics were knocked of their pedestals where they pretend to be moral authorities when in fact they are nothing but specialists in some form of mysticism.

Tolerance of evil (ex: inequality) is wrong. Evil must be challenged or it takes over.

  • @TheAnniepies

And you understand why it's absurd to suggest why one brand of thinking is better than another, particularly when no one is forced to refer to the Karmapa as His Holiness? And what of the people who follow religious figures willingly? Who genuinely like religion, or the sense of community it may offer them? Fuck them, too, there's no place for them in the marvelous world? You are not suggesting equality. You are suggesting to toss aside people and their beliefs based on prejudice.

  • @TheAnniepies

You preach of 'evil' but ignore the blatantly caustic and hateful nature of your comments. People aren't going to stop believing in religions because you tell them too, nor if the religious leaders disappear. History has proven that. People have choice in life. This includes whether or not they believe in a god, gods, or a moral philosophy. You want to preach of evil and then take away choice? Lovely.

It comes back to man and his inability to scrutinize himself as he does others

  • @EffortlessPopsicle Blah, blah blah. You're not worth reading. Why? Because you equate criticism of religious superiority claims with "caustic hate". End of story. Go ahead and waste your time getting the last word--I won't read it. Your life is deluded waste.

  • @TheAnniepies

I relate rash actions meant to knock peaceful people down to caustic hate. You never answered any of my questions, you never backed your comments with evidence, and you proved your hypocrisy multiple times over, including your immaturity when I long stopped being immature.

Enjoy that teat, Anniepies. You've proven that you're far too young of mind to be removed from it.

  • @TheAnniepies Actually, the other guy's right; you're passive aggressiveness belies your immaturity. You lose.

  • @CymroGoch Unless you present an argument, just saying someone else is right and I'm a meanie-boo-boo is simply vacuous and self-defeating. Dispute a specific point I made or YOU lose. That's how reason works.

  • @TheAnniepies No, that's not how reason works, you lose.

  • @CymroGoch Case in point. You make an assertion, declare victory, and presume to have won the argument. You have to present the stronger argument to assume victory. You present NONE.

  • I hate social classes and there is nothing holy about them. Social classes and castes only divide the population. Merit should be the judging factor, not the parent's class.

This man can have great ideas, but claim to be a "holy" man is indeed arrogant and dishonest. If you want to help people, don't put yourself on a pedestal. People worship you, but they stop thinking. One man's idea cannot be taken as literal truth without thinking about it, and then you even have to doubt and seek to learn.

  • @HimmiJoe Following your reasoning, we shouldn't even trust what you just wrote lol. It's kind of a paradox. If I say "don't trust anybody" that means you can't even trust what I just said, but then you can trust anyone, and it turns into a cycle.

The man is "holy" because in his religion he is considered that, if the pope talked in a TED talk, he would also be called his holiness (I pressume)

  • @elchafa Has anyone ever told you that you're an idiot?

  • @dannyboyfour yes many times, but I've disregarded the insult since I won't accept a dog calling me an idiot. Dogs can't talk.

  • @elchafa I was going to thumb down that reply you just gave me, but I think I'll thumb it up instead because I want that to be the top up voted comment so everyone can see it and have a laugh.

  • @dannyboyfour why thank you very much good sir/lady

  • Nice gold watch and frameless designer glasses, Karmapa! He doesn't say anything crazy in this talk, but his belief system based on reincarnation is silly (as silly as belief in the sky god).

  • we need to connect or we will die

  • Maybe some of you wonder what is so special about Karmapa and his speech that deserves standing ovation in the end. Well, you will not find it in his words, there are many more talented speakers and brighter ideas than compassion. Important is what Karmapa represents. He might said nothing at all and stil he would have been applauded. Because this man represents the beautiful being which is in everyone of us. He is the beautiful being, by status. And he carries this quality through centuries.

  • @RagDoll2band

    "Important is what Karmapa represents"

He represents the idea that people who put on robes should be automatically revered, even if they spout nothing but nonsense.

  • @MomoTheBellyDancer Yes, this is also true in this world - the politicians, priests and so on, all the manipulators tend to wear robes. So I better say - there is only one way to realize whether one is false or true, wearing a robe or not, .. it is through your silence, your own awareness will tell you... whether one is or is not truly beautiful being, if one just represents something or his/her true self. Maybe Karmapa's talent is not speaking - then he was true him-self. See my point? .-)

  • @RagDoll2band

    "See my point? .-)"

What point? You haven't said anything worth responding to.

  • @MomoTheBellyDancer Well I must have, cos you responded :) Ask yourself why. And be sincere. If you dont see my point, then you use your mind and not eyes. It is that simple. I wrote "see" not "think". Anyways beautiful evening to you. Forget the words.

"Sounds like a great location for retreat."

It was on the aptly named Holy Island (it used to be home to an early British Christian hermit) - in the Firth of Clyde. The Buddhists bought the island about 20 years ago. I made a short film about it a few years ago - it wasn't a great success as they were on a long silent retreat as well when I filmed! Not many interviews!

  • TED's running out of ideas again I see.

  • the apparent acceptance of this man's claim to fame by TED is an affront to human dignity

  • That's enough for me, there were some interesting ted talks but they are sticking more and more bullshit in it.

ted jumped the shark... soon shopra will give a ted talk about quantum healing
