For fans of Sister Aimee, Good news: my Oscar-considered 2001 documentary "Saving Sister Aimee; The Aimee Semple McPherson Story" was just released on Amazon dot com for the first time in ten years, it's now available. Amicably, Richard Rossi
Oh, my eyes teared up when I heard the music and watched the end. This is powerful, showing her as a person with frailties and a need for the touch of an understanding Jesus.
Well I purchased and watched the entire DVD and I have to say I was dissapointed overall, but the movie does have it's moments - interesting subject matter, to be sure - the editing at times is a little confusing and it helps to know a bit about the history of Aimee Semple McPherson in order to follow it -
Our patience has paid off. Rich Rossi released the film to Blockbuster Video Stores, Netflix, and Amazon under the new title, "Sister Aimee: The Aimee Semple McPherson Story."
This is awesome I would love to see the whole thing where can I get a copy. I had an amazing experience with God and I have studied her life recently and she was an amazing woman of God.
I'm looking forward to Richard Rossi's novel "Stick Man." This film is deserving of the critical acclaim it has received, an exploration into the reality that ministers are people too, with needs, living in a skin of flesh. Evangelicals have been about personalities more than principles and Rossi is a filmmaker who neither condemns nor canonizes McPherson, but compassionately exploes how this woman was a trophy of grace. Check out Rossi's film website at aimeesemplemcphersonmovie dot com
Atrocious. Pseudo-archival footage is interspersed with turgid melodrama to entertain the ignorant. "Only human like the rest of us" is a clarion, siren call used by purveyors of pop culture to ensure people remain blinded. (Read Romans in the KJV, Chs. 6-8.) Miss McPherson was the victim of a criminal kidnapping designed to discredit her witness for Christ. Many other wonderful men and women have paid the same high price to preach the Gospel faithfully.
Richard Rossi's first novel is near completion, i just heard him read an excerpt in Santa Monica. It's called "Stick Man." A powerful story, from the scene I heard, about an imaginative boy tormented by night terrors.
Richard Rossi went through so much suffering in his life and in making this film, that it has the power of being written in his own blood! Five stars!
Thank you to all of you for taking the time to watch this scene from our film Aimee Semple McPherson. For more information on the feature, google Aimee Semple McPherson movie with my name, and it should pull up sites to learn more.
I saw this at a film festival in Germany. It was embraced because of it's honest focus on a woman and her inner life. The close-ups reinforced the feeling of claustrophobia the main character feels. When this film was showcased at the Screen Actor's Guild, other actors were inspired to greenlight themselves and create their own projects. Hopefully, we will see more quality scripts and ensemble casts like this film in the digital revolution to come.
BTW, this is an excerpt of the feature "Aimee Semple McPherson." I saw this at New Beverly Cinema. The theatre was packed, lines around the block. I was impacted profoundly. It portrayed a woman who was a conduit for God's Spirit, yet she still was human. There wasn't a dry eye in the house when she went into the arms of God. I had a sense that there is an afterlife and loving arms await us.
Your welcome, sobargo. Thank you for watching and appreciating our work. I had two gifted editors, Jaime Prater and Adma Lightplay. And two great actresses that brought the words I wrote in the script to life.
Very emotionally gripping marriage of stellar acting, powerful scripting and perfect music. Loved the transcendence of her afterlife encounter at the beach
