"Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what's for dinner. A Republic is a well armed lamb contesting the vote." This skirmish is over, but we know now the party leadership's stands, abilities and how far they will go. We know now what must be done, we do not anticipate much resistance to our movement. We will rally our communities, our friends, and each other. We'll elect people to congress and state legislature and we will become PCO's. If the party will fight dirty within the rules.
A failed campaign? 2% name recognition January 2007. 50%+ in January 2008. Failed huh? No convention has progressed as far as 2008 in 20 years. Seems to me someone's campaign really draws the true grass roots while the McCain supporters took orders from their "leaders". Ron Paulers will be the first ones in and the last ones out from this point on. We stand for the Constitution, Liberty, and the Rule of Law. "I support the definition of patriotism as that effort to resist state oppression" - RP
So he has property he rents out? Fascinating, but hardly a problem with a truly free market.
By the way, I am a lifelong, second generation republican. Two young people sitting behind me here at this convention thought that just getting a call from the party to go to the convention (instead of actually being elected)to support McCain was their way of being patriotic. Do we have to dress these kids in brown shirts for the sheeple to smell the fascism?
ha ha! And success is what? Borrowing from China while we are bankrupt yet sending billions in foreign aid to other countries, while our infrastructure and education deteriorates? Going to war based on lies and no one doing anything about it? Printing more money and making the dollar more worthless every day, with prices going up while wages do not? Ron Paul supporters have already woken up. I'm sorry that you haven't.
I just wanted to point out to you that your screenname is "naked rat." Just wanted to make sure you knew that. You too can have a good life, but remember, of all the choices for screenname, you were the guy that chose naked rat.
You are out of the mainstream.... It's only the beginning..... really? Is it that successful and celebrated? If so, why wont Ron Paul get the nomination of his own party???
You answered your own question. He won't get the nomination because he was marginalized by the "mainstream". But the momentum is building even as the "mainstream" makes a mockery of our political system and elects a walking bumper sticker into the White House. Many of us have woken up and stepped up to see what we can do before it's too late. Again, thank you for your interest.
If by "marginalized by the mainstream" being democratically chosen through caucuses and primaries, then yes.... the man chose him. I think that you are really just trying to make excuses to make yourself feel better.
No excuses, you brought up the point, I was simply clarifying it for you. Freesk8 above articulates it very nicely. We are a minority, but a growing one and that's what makes me feel better. Thank you for your concern.
Once upon a time, a minority knew that the earth was round. Only a minority participated in the American Revolution.
Every great scientific and philosophical revolution started with a minority; often one person. The majority is of average intelligence. Majority rule is another form of tyranny, and violates liberty as often as many dictatorships. I don't care if my views are not mainstream. The mainstream is often a cesspool of ignorance. I think for myself. I recommend it.
Being one of the alternates on the "DO NOT USE" list, I felt it a privlage to stand at the back of the room and record. Not far into Fri. I was approched by SGT. 1 and asked if I was recording, if I was a member of press, then SGT.2 shows up and my 5'2" frame is shadowed against the wall by these men. They say if I record any more I WILL be thrown OUT! Whats to hide guys? We were treated as if we were in a compound under total control of our every move.
That may be so, but Baldwin is not running for President.
Look, I gave $2,300 to Ron Paul this election cycle. After the GOP convention in St. Paul, Ron Paul will be done. The question is: who is the next best candidate to support and does he or she rise to your standards?
Bob Barr is definitely the next best thing, but only you can decide if he rises to your standards or not. In my opinion, the only alternative to Barr will be not voting at all.
My individual vote is incredibily unlikely to change the outcome of any state or national election. Therefore, I vote my conscience. If fewer people held their noses and voted for the lesser of two evils, we wouldn't have the lousy quality of candidates we now have. McCain does not rise to my standards. Bob Barr and Ron Paul do. You are free to sell your vote cheap, but in the morning, you will feel like a used chump. Vote your values. You will feel better.
I think that the lesser of two evils thinking gets us to socialism faster than voting for the candidate who best matches your values. I think that the D's are bringing us closer to left-wing socialism, but the R's are moving us towards right-wing socialism. I want neither. Again, your single vote will almost certainly not change the outcome. It therefore makes no sense to vote for the lesser of two evils. You can't keep the greater evil out of office. But you CAN defend your values.
I agree with you on most of what you said but we already have socialism. Tptb (nor their MSM stooges) just haven't told the American people but this IS socialism! We've a police/welfare state living alongside a military-industrial complex & we have Social[ist] Security (I've HERD that word b4...oh yeah, Homeland!) And we're ruled by banksters thru the corporations that have grown up around them (as Jefferson pointed out) running the nation & that was Mussolini's def. of Socialism: Corporatism.
Barr is no Ron Paul. Ron Paul is the epitome of true libertarian ideals... The same ideals that formed this once great dream, we call the United States of America. Barr is an infiltrator.
But he is good enough for me to send a message about my values. Barr will not get elected, but a vote for McCain or Obama would be worse, and not voting at all as a protest is indistinguishable from apathy.
After the GOP convention, I will become a Barr supporter. You may do what you like.
This shows the true side of the neo-con McCain people. Assulting Mr. Paris, the Spokane Police lying again to cover-up, beating a patron at a near-by eatery across the street. We NEED to keep the true message of what is happening as the media has failed us for this entire campaign. We got here without them, we will see it through without them.
Excellent work! When won't stop fighting until the battle for the republic is won! Freedom and justice for all! Operation Whip will stand down, permanently!
All of these delegates are going to go back and tell all of their friends family and aquaintances how things went down. Next time there will be twice as many REAL REPUBLICANS to deal with.
I even overheard a McCain delegate comment on the Ron Paul delegation as being "too nice". I have never seen the local GOP so scared and angry when we forced the McCain delegation back into the convention. I also have never had so much fun during and after a convention like that. If you were not at your state convention in 2008 you really missed out.
All politics now is making yourself look good and making another canadates look bad

This is an ad hominem argument. Even a naked rat is right once in a while. Maybe he is right now? Address the arguments, don't make personal attacks.

Great job, Fred!
Go, Ron Paul!
I'm a partisan Libertarian, and have given up on the GOP after similar nasty tactics on the local level.
But we need good Constitutionalists fighting for liberty within the GOP and on the outside of it.
But if any of you Ron Paul fans want to join the LP after the GOP National Convention, we welcome you with open arms!
Bob Barr might just be the closest thing to Ron Paul that will still be in the race at that time...
