By the way, I am a lifelong, second generation republican. Two young people sitting behind me here at this convention thought that just getting a call from the party to go to the convention (instead of actually being elected)to support McCain was their way of being patriotic. You answered your own question. He won't get the nomination because he was marginalized by the "mainstream". But the momentum is building even as the "mainstream" makes a mockery of our political system and elects a walking bumper sticker into the White House. Every great scientific and philosophical revolution started with a minority; often one person. The majority is of average intelligence. Majority rule is another form of tyranny, and violates liberty as often as many dictatorships. I don't care if my views are not mainstream. The mainstream is often a cesspool of ignorance. I think for myself. I recommend it.

Being one of the alternates on the "DO NOT USE" list, I felt it a privlage to stand at the back of the room and record. Not far into Fri. I was approched by SGT. 1 and asked if I was recording, if I was a member of press, then SGT.2 shows up and my 5'2" frame is shadowed against the wall by these men. They say if I record any more I WILL be thrown OUT! Whats to hide guys? We were treated as if we were in a compound under total control of our every move.

I'm a partisan Libertarian, and have given up on the GOP after similar nasty tactics on the local level.

But we need good Constitutionalists fighting for liberty within the GOP and on the outside of it.

But if any of you Ron Paul fans want to join the LP after the GOP National Convention, we welcome you with open arms!

Bob Barr might just be the closest thing to Ron Paul that will still be in the race at that time...

Look, I gave $2,300 to Ron Paul this election cycle. After the GOP convention in St. Paul, Ron Paul will be done. The question is: who is the next best candidate to support and does he or she rise to your standards?

Bob Barr is definitely the next best thing, but only you can decide if he rises to your standards or not. In my opinion, the only alternative to Barr will be not voting at all.

My individual vote is incredibily unlikely to change the outcome of any state or national election. Therefore, I vote my conscience. If fewer people held their noses and voted for the lesser of two evils, we wouldn't have the lousy quality of candidates we now have. McCain does not rise to my standards. Bob Barr and Ron Paul do.  You are free to sell your vote cheap, but in the morning, you will feel like a used chump. Vote your values. You will feel better.

I think that the lesser of two evils thinking gets us to socialism faster than voting for the candidate who best matches your values. I think that the D's are bringing us closer to left-wing socialism, but the R's are moving us towards right-wing socialism. I want neither. Again, your single vote will almost certainly not change the outcome. It therefore makes no sense to vote for the lesser of two evils.  You can't keep the greater evil out of office. But you CAN defend your values.

I agree with you on most of what you said but we already have socialism. Tptb (nor their MSM stooges) just haven't told the American people but this IS socialism! I even overheard a McCain delegate comment on the Ron Paul delegation as being "too nice". I have never seen the local GOP so scared and angry when we forced the McCain delegation back into the convention. I also have never had so much fun during and after a convention like that. If you were not at your state convention in 2008 you really missed out.
