  • Wiki:

"After multiple delays, the product was cancelled on August 2010, with the firm noting that "We recognize the market has dramatically changed, and with the product delays we have experienced, it no longer make sense for us to move forward with our first generation electronic reading product."

  • This is for old people.

  • Not impressed, needs colour, backlighting as required, faster processor, smaller frame, - ipad?

  • uhmm ,, ohh.. umm .... uhoo .... hmmm..

STOP HUMMING thats just friggin annoying

  • This product has been discontinued as announced last August 2010.

  • THIS THING IS FREAKING HUGE!

  • @GeneralFault Thats what she said!

  • if it could be in color... all the scientific journals I can read <333333

  • I dont trust touchscreen technology , I prefer real buttons real keyboards, so Kindle or Sony would be better than this strange gadget.

  • this display uses ewod technology.

The pixel size may get to 3um, about 10 times smaller than a CRT or LCD, this means a much higer resolution.

this technology in the future can substitute all kinds of display because it has a high frame rate, to use as a tv for example, just add some backlight

  • Up coming tablet will come at lower price with better quality and color (come on, we're on 2010 ...) meaning that this black/white reader will be obselete by the time it's released...some saying that "if i were a business pro" should finish the sentence this way : "i'd definitely buy something that allow me to do everything with one tab".

by the way up coming tab will allow the following : phone, reader, multimedia, sms, mms, mails, internet... readers shoulw have come earlier in history...

  • Even the SF Chronicle has been using color for many years now and i'm not talking about just their comics page. Also, magazines are in color so to truly mimic reading color documents like charts, graphs, graphic novels, picture books, kid books and textbooks for the arts, eReaders need to be in color. Eventually, these eReaders will adopt color technology (Pixel Qi, Mirasol, LiquaVista). It would provide more usefulness and flexibility rather than just reading a plain book.

  • BTW, Plastic Logic ditched this one-dimensional project. The QUE will not come out this year. Probably because it cannot compete against the Kindle pricing. They will however come out with a 2nd generation Pro-Reader for next year's release.

  • this is fake

  • MMMhhhhh

  • black and white? in the XXI century? this is a joke..

  • @ssoloness you obviously never read a book in your entire life.

  • Beautiful screen just like the kindle. It is supposed to look like newspaper. It flashes the screen with a picture and then the battery turns off, making the battery last for a month. Research before you post.

  • lame:

    1. Too slooooowww

    2. B&W

    3. crappy display

    4. No USB

    4+1. No Web Browser

    6 UI could be better

I guess this product needs to be polished... Maybe in three years or so It'll be usable

  • @sebastiannn1000

    1. yes, too slow. Some of them has got 2 weeks of battery time though!

    2. No problem for novels and 99% of all academic books.

    3. Display can be viewed in direct sunlight - try that with an ipad.

    4. I think all of them allows transfering books from a PC - USB or any other way.

    5. I would NOT use this to surf on, only to read books on. No need for a browser. It could easily hold all my university books, which would be top notch.

But sure, faster screen would be nice :D

  • IPads are gimicky and pointless excuses for laptops. This is a book/buisness aid.

  • @GRBGS

I don't think you see the difference between an eReader and an iPad, as well as eInk and other displays.

the iPad is a multifunctional tablet 'laptop replacement', and can be compared to a computer.

This reader is a reader, using e-ink (which is a fantastic surface for reading books, mind) and can be compared to an interactive book or newspaper. I'm sure if I was a business professional who doesn't want an overpriced toy, I would definitely buy something like this.

  • i just bought a pico and thought it was awsome. its just a baby compaired to this thing.

i also get a kick out of people thinking the ipad is the be and end all and i'll admit i think its lush. i later found the hanvon bc10c with sd, usb ports and windows operating system.

  • hm hm!

  • too much lag, fix it plz

  • nah, i believe the one being sold now is fast... however, this is waaaaaay too expensive, it's the only major design flaw ;)

on the other hand, i think they'll try to milk the top layers of the market (early adopters, ppl that sh*t money) before marking it down to a broader market.

  • If they had got this to market 2 years ago it would have been awesome. It's still not available in the UK (or the US) and its ~0.2s response time and bw display is starting to look dated already. What have plastic logic been doing for the last 2 years??

  • when change pages, really hurt my eye

  • heloo , the IPAD is here

  • e-ink is b&w by design. Devices like this can stay on for days at a time.

If you want a flashy toy to surf the net get an iPad.

This is to replace books/ newspapers/ paper documents not a computer.

  • no problmes for the b/w screen, but it has two huge flaws: slow in loading pages and a horrible touch feeling (LAGS LAGS LAGS!!!)...

  • its main advantage is for business compared to ipad but would appreciate it if they could make the graphic colour and enter the Australian market yesterday

  • nice the review is on ebook-reader point it

  • does he have his lips stapled together? hmm hmm!

  • that ebook reader still sucks!..it woyld have been nice if the company could improve it's speed and to put a little color into it...still lot's of works has to be done...I'll give that an average rating of 5/10...cheers

  • still too primitive 4 my liking. the screen pans slowly and refreshes slowly too. and the swiping not being multi-touch would make me regret buying it. But its an exciting product though.

  • @tcee001 , ever heard of e-ink?

  • I am kind of disappointed. I was waitin for this thing to come out for almost two years, since it was delayed a year. First they said it would be bendable which the final product is not.

Can't show colors - that's too old school today and it makes the thing look boring..

Now I see it is a bit slow as well.

  • 3G, bluetooth and WiFi but no web browser ???

  • damn enoying the cameraman is with all hes mmmmm mmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmm

  • he is being indifferent i think. interested but not totally convinced that its worth buying

  • yhym
