  • i got the same issue..im using it now..my screen dont work...i need to use a extranl monitor..im f pissed off.

  • my m11x haf 10 months eny scrach

  • As this is a well known issue, Dell is replacing them for free by sending out a technician to replace the hinges with the LCD, even if your system is out of warranty. Just be sure to transfer the ownership to yourself (if you haven't bought the system directly from Dell) on Dell's website.

  • 6 people have alienware

  • I had my Alienware M11x for 5 months and don't have not even 1 problem with it!

  • yes was fixed by dell twice, it get's fixed even out of warranty.

  • hi i have the same problem, have you fixed it yet?

  • R1 sucks

  • I haz that problem.

  • alienware isn't shit, the computers are fine, they just screwed up part of the external design on this one, after one year, mine is working like a champ except for the hinge, which they are replacing for me

  • this is no bug deal, it get's fixed even out of warranty.

  • What do you expect, it's a fucking dell.

  • No Alienware isn't shit. All of your skills at looking after a £450 - $800 machine is shit.

  • NO SE QUE HACER CON MI ALIENWARECOMPRE LA MIA EN ESTADOS UNIDOS Y SE ME DAÑO EN LA REPUBLICA DOMINICANA, NO HE TENIDO SUERTE PARA ENCONTRAR QUIEN LA REPARE.

LLAME AL CENTRO DE SERVICIOS Y NO ME PUEDEN AYUDAR.

  • easy fix... just superglue it... lol

  • This happened to me then the screen broke because of the hinge. -.- Sorry Alienware but this is shit.

  • This happened every time I would replace the screen. Now I don't have problems. The reason why is it screws up is because the screen touches the keyboard and the hinges are off balance. Make sure when it's closed, the screen doesn't touch the keyboard. When you get it replaced, tell the guy to loosen the hinges so the screen doesn't touch the keyboard and make sure they are evenly tightened. It did the trick for me and haven't had a problem for awhile. The screen does get a little wobbly though.

  • i had this problem to my m11x i had it replace 6 times in one year

  • MADE IN CHINA???

TELL DELL U WANT ONE MADE IN USA!

  • Yea I hope this does happen to mine because hopefully I will take care of it

  • FUCKINGGGGG I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WITH THESE PROBLEMS

  • @anadus7

please enlist here so that we can solidify this claim to make dell give necessary immediate attention to this problem. please post here

  • @CptAndrus Oh Dell knows. As of 5th November 2010, Dell has given an official statement. I got the infofrom Engadget site so it should be real.

The only question is how long will the permanent fix be out.

Until then, just get Dell Support dudes to come over an replace the screen.

  • What a bad quality control from DELL! Sorry to hear that bro . . . peace!

  • Learn too take better care of it?

  • i'll help you for additional 2K bux

  • I had same problem, twice

  • I have an alienware m11x r2 as well, and I put some quick glue, such as 502 quick glue, to the gap of the hinge axis, this hinge got a design problem, the quick glue can make the hinge stronger and can take some more strength.

well, make sure open can close the laptop smooth, of coures the best way is use an external monitor :)

    Saludos

  • dont nerd rage

  • loosen the hinges as soon at it starts creeking. Google something along the lines of "laptop hinges too tight". I don't think its just a problem with the M11x or Dell/Alienware laptops it, and hinges being too loose, seems to be a problem with ALOT of laptops.

  • LLOOOL ITS NOT AN ALIENWARE!

  • @SquashHit yes it is. look more closely

  • Own fault for buying a shitty overpriced laptop man

  • @alexandervv123 Laptop Fail!!

  • @alexandervv123 Shouldn't that mean, you know, BETTER quality?

  • take more care of your stuff then you wont have to worry about it. even things like SLOWLY opening it and not dropping it(not saying you did)

  • @ImkoolathanU You can be as careful as you want and it will break regardless. It's not about user care, it's about hardware error. These machines are plagued with faulty hinges. It's a design error.

  • The squeaking hinge in my video did this a couple weeks later. Dell replaced it for me. For your situation, perhaps you can send the screen to someone in the US and they can get warranty service for you?

  • @CZroe Oh, and it was the other hinge in my case. Did Dell sell this to you in Columbia? If so, they should service it there for free as well!

  • @CZroe Hi, no this laptop was buy in USA and the warranty is only in USA, for Colombia I have to buy a regional warranty (an its money)

  • @rodridelsolar and is not fair for a high end pc with two months
