Nice vid, great job! Which of the San's is best to fully merit? Or is it better to merit each once? I just got Nin to 75 and not sure if San's worth it or not, and if they are if I should merit each once or fully merit 2 of them. Any suggestions?
Ash Dragon, Olla, Steam Cleaner, whatever we find up really, heh. Tried Zipacna but the 300+ damage hits and AoE was too much to keep up with as just /DNC, seeing how it's EVA is a lot higher than most and it was doing a lot more damage than we could cure. I'll be soloing in FFXIV, and hopefully I'll be able to get a Dazzle so I can record from my PS3 then.
Yeah, I went NIN/WHM for shellra2, and we both macro'd in MDB gear for -aga's. Wasn't that hard with a few yag drinks, might try solo some day. Dunno if that'll work though, seeing as how I wiped duoing with a BRD.
2 people to absorb the damage helped a bit, along with stoneskin and shell2. We duo'd Genbu too, but he went COR for that. I don't know how you did it though, I didn't get one unresisted nuke all 3 hours. :(
/shrug, stacked up INT and skill as much as I could and ran around for hours. I don't remember how much skill I had, but I think I was only missing Koga boots and astute cape. With those I probably would've resisted a lot less and significantly reduced the time it took. When the nukes went through they did up to 100. Also if you had the patience to put like 5 levels into raiton: san, it would go pretty easy.
Finally someone that doesnt use Heavy metal or shit Japanese pop/dance music in their youtube videos, not saying its poochunks or nothing, great video though!
Quick question I am about to try this solo on my nin and I cant understand why people dont use San spells? Also I didnt see the mob do any special moves so how does he get rid of the tp given to him by the nukes?
thanks for your swift reply. I will try and solo him on my elvaan nin. Now would /rdm /blm /sch be more benefitial? I dont have /drk and /dnc in this situation is useless.
I used your video sort of as a guide and ended up doing this with a friend. The hardest part was definitely seperating the Jailer from his pets; for us at least. They just didn't want to de-aggro, or when they did, they'd be way to close to the Jailer.
I made it into a video response if you're interested in checking it out thanks.
I couldn't tell because of the blur, but were you NIN/BLM (for optimized nuking damage) or were you on a different sub? Also, if you don't want to type it out here, could you possibly send me a PM of what your gear set was? Would be helpful. Thanks.
I haven't played for a few months, but I'd probably just stick an Astute Cape in for back. I was 0/13 on that. I don't remember if I used any food, but I guess you could pop some cream puffs.
hey ^^ first of all nice solo, secondly im planning on soloing this on my COR and just wanted to know why u dragged it thru the zone instead of kiting it in the square room beside where u popped it?
lmao some of you naysayers and people who doubt that this is real are incredible. It's very easy to lose aggro on the helpers, COR could even solo this in a similar fashion. I'm not quite too sure what there is not to believe about this.
i love how people keep doubting this is real, the only way this is fake and he is a lier is if someone was holding the ghrah helpers alive the whole time he was killing JoF so he would reflect spells making it seem like they weren't dead. Because when those things are alive they 100% always make JoF reflect spells.
So seeing how i doubt any ls would stand there for a hour or 2 while he solo's JoF holding his adds for him. Im pretty sure this is real deal. Deaggro sounds odd but likely.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
I realize the methods. Being a ninja myself and having tanked 95% of every creature in the game, i cant help but wonder what happened to the 2 grah minions he carries with him. They dont deaggro just because you outrun them. If an alliance pulled them off you separate from your own party then its not a solo kill. Solo is just what it sounds like. Your kill with 0 help.
In fact both the Jailer and the Kf'grah do deaggro if you get enough distance between you. I was surprised as well, because I expected to have to die and then pull the Jailer on its own like the Ix'mnk pull. Instead I found they stopped chasing me. No one assisted me period. Of course it wouldn't be a solo if someone else took out two of the three mobs. Also, the Jailer wouldn't have been reflecting my spells back at me if the birds had been killed.
I find it funny when people doubt my easiest solos. Why do you find this difficult to believe? You run away and stop to cast spells. Oldest method ever.
All monsters in the game have the possibility of being solo'd...it's just a matter of figuring out the most efficient way to do so. Soloing anything requires only 2 necessary things: the ability to avoid damage and the ability to do damage. Everything just boils down to that and as long as you're doing those 2 things, you have the chance of winning.
Absolutely. You approximate your stats against the mob's stats and draw a reasonable probability rate from that. I'd say the chance of soloing Byakko is about 523,935 to 1. Owing largely to your timers not being fast enough to keep up with highly accurate triple attacks.
Of course, some mobs are just right out, because you'll never break damage on them. (Tiamat, Kirin, AV come to mind)
Well, things like Tiamat, Vrtra, AV, and Kirin aren't very fair fights if you're soloing, since there's a shit load of aggro surrounding and some of them can summon randomly at will, plus the wyrms have Draw-In (making kiting impossible). If you had an outside alliance to instantly kill all of the aggro/summons, then I think they'd be a fair shot. Would be a hell of a lot harder than Byakko. But with the right job combo, planned-caution measures, equipment versatility and wit, it's possible.
Yea, good point. The battles would just end up never ending... but that could be overcome if you did more dmg per second than it's regen per second... Each of the Wyrms have about 100k HP and AV has about 120k, meaning you'd have to manage dishing out dmg per mili-or-half of a second. So I think with capped haste and multiple-hit weapons (or maximum available fast cast enhancement and enfeebling) that could be taken care of dmg wise..it's just the avoiding dmg part that would need to come in.
Idealistically, the only job capable of avoiding straight on dmg is PLD/RDM with hauteclaire, shadow mantle, shadow ring, defending ring, ethereal earring, knight's earring (or suppanomimi), shield torque, swift belt, gallant leggings+1, homan cosciales or iron ram hose, bahamut's mask, aegis, valhalla breastplate, and kaiser handschuhs. After that it's just figuring out how to do dmg...maybe a duo or trio would work with high DD. Or maybe I'm wrong, and am just being very wishful...
First of all, let's just laugh at the idea of AV and throw it out. People haven't been able to legitimately take him down with 18 (except SE :P). So just lol. Trio maybe for tiamat if you had some badass DD. Some things just aren't possible, barring the possibility that some stray atom crashes through the atmosphere, straight into the server at just such a point as to somehow cause some line of code to read incorrectly and make you superwin.
Amazing solo! May I ask how you got the two Kf'ghrah to stop assisting the mob? And how did you keep ahead of it during daytime hours? (Just powder boots?)
Keep up the good work, I look forward to seeing more!
Both the Kf'ghrah and Jailer will lose aggro like normal mobs if kited away. Once they did, I went back and retrieved the Jailer. As long as he's far enough away from the Kf'ghrah on the way back to the spawn point, they shouldn't reaggro. Just kiting it around the block will keep it far enough behind during daytime. However, if you don't do it perfectly he will slowly gain on you. For this reason I'd take one or two pairs of powder boots for safety.

I did use San spells, but I also used Ni spells because they cast significantly faster which is important when you're kiting.
It usually uses Ascentic Burst or whatever, which is harmless to you and gives you a big lead on him.

NIN/RDM always for kiting.
HQ Staves, Sweet Sachet, Ninja Hatsuburi, Ninjutsu Torque, Stealth Earring, Ninjutsu Earring or Moldavite, Kirin Osode, Seiryu's Kote, INT ring, Balrahn's Ring, Boxer's Mantle, Druid's Rope, Sangoma Lappa, Ninja Kyahan +1.
Not necessarily the best, but I think it's what I used.

To lose aggro on his helpers, the Kf'grah. I kited it to one of the square rooms. It would be significantly harder to lose aggro otherwise.
