I was wondering, do English speaking folks from other then the UK understand everything what these amazing Scots say? Americans and Canadians for example. It seems to me Australians are much closer to the British, pronunciation wise, so they should have less trouble if ever understanding them, shouldn’t they?

We struggle sometimes. A lot of Americans don't understand the difference between Ireland and Scotland (not their fault, it's just the way we're portrayed in the media. Some people think Shrek is Irish for example), so they might be quite surprised when we speak the way that we do. There's a lot of Scots in Canada and Australia already so I think they'd understand us pretty well. However, I'd say even in the UK we struggle to understand each-other. I find Ulster Scots difficult
