I hate to sound racist, but I've noticed that Russian hockey players are painfully inconsistent. They often go several games with out a single point, but then suddenly they'll score five or six in one game. Even Ovechkin is guilty of that. We just saw Malkin play like shit for most of the Flyers series, plus there was that horrible penalty shot... He's a great player, but Crosby is still better. Richards isn't nearly good enough to compare to either of them.

I like Mike Richards, but it's a shame that the typical Flyer fan overshadows those Flyer fans that actually know the game and respect the sport. Name another team's fans that cheer when someone gets hurt (not hit clean, but actually hurt). There are none. I feel sorry for those Philly fans that know hockey because they get lumped in with the morons. I'm all for loving your team no matter which one it is but I think there's no place for cheapshots, especially when there are legal ways to smash somebody. I don't fault Flyer fans for rooting for their team and maybe there have been other incidents. But most of the cheapshots, dirty hits, and suspensions you see involve the Flyers. Maybe people in the media want to make Philly look bad, I don't know. At any rate, the season starts today so we can all enjoy watching some hockey.

I hate to sound racist, but I've noticed that Russian hockey players are painfully inconsistent. They often go several games with out a single point, but then suddenly they'll score five or six in one game. Even Ovechkin is guilty of that. We just saw Malkin play like shit for most of the Flyers series, plus there was that horrible penalty shot... He's a great player, but Crosby is still better. Richards isn't nearly good enough to compare to either of them.

We all saw Richards crying to the refs. Maybe because it was a clean hit with the shoulder and the other player's (Kovalev?) leg flew out so it looked like a knee. A Pens fan shouldn't be saying anything about crying to the refs. Crosby does it every time he gets touched. And Upshall's dive? Sorry, but it never happened. He got hit under the chin and his skate caught the left post and he fell. You try not falling after taking an uppercut on skates.
