  • interesting video and very informative

  • We will miss you Hitchens

  • Wow clever ads from YouTube. Hitchens is on screen and I get an anti-smoking ad.

  • this will be resisted!

  • @cott2696 As he has been dubbed one of the four atheists of the apocolyspe, grand intellectual with vast knowledge of governments and history specifically american history......I think he is aware of that the "US administration is not one that is full of atheists fighting to discredit religion"

Maybe the difference is the seperation of church and state and freedom of religon which is a cornerstone of american government that differiantes american democracy from theocracy in his mind, maybe.

  • ... to those they are fighting against.

  • What HItchens seems to ignore is the fact that the US administration is not one that is full of atheists fighting to discredit religion. They just happen to believe in a slightly different religion.

  • Dear Atheists: Since neither of us have any solid, scientific expiation as to what the fuck we are doing here; don’t you think your Catholic-bashing is a bit premature; seeing that you have no plausible alterative? Is it really so absurd for us to assume an ‘answer’ to conscience-existence while you present only the most sincere ‘questions?’ You are the preverbal Hair trying to keep up with the Tortoise. BTW: Any insurance-actuary will tell you it’s better to be covered while price shopping.

  • @mdstalla

If you must trot out Pascal's Wager why not check out the standard reply first? Hitchens states it well on a number of videos here. Also, you would lose the respect of your readers less quickly if you proofread your comments before posting.

  • @onehairybuddha Yes, nothing comands respect like a Youtube spell checker named 'oneharybuddha.'

  • haha! "Sexual Charisma" ----- of course, Hitch!

  • why are the thumbed up comments always the trolls that are always missing fact or contradicting themselves?<--- please don't thumb this lol.

  • I thought so... he supported the Iraq war because he doesn't like religion. What a ridiculous person. That war ended up costing over 3 trillion dollars... hundreds of thousands of Iraqis died. U.S. soldiers were "indiscriminately" firing at civilians. It was a complete disaster... and he supported it because he has a low opinion of religion.

  • @flagrantsake Can't have been anything to do with Saddam being a ruthless dictator, can it?

    You fucking tool.

  • @Kaelisra440 that would imply that Hitchens is a naive simpleton... and didn't say things like this:

"The sanctions regime was in the way the worst compromise at all and a huge amount of damage was done to Iraqi society on the faint but unspoken promise that they were not going to go on punishing the people for the sins of the regime."

"The best-documented atrocities... and so forth were committed when Saddam Hussein was the recipient of Western favor and protection. "

  • Did anyone else get the ad for Mormonism before their Christopher Hitchens video like I did?....hahahaha

  • Twas just revealed to me that Hitch writes & edits for VANITY FAIR! My God a FASHION magazine, really Hitch? Man that's disappointing. I'm sure it pays well but what about all the royalties from your books? I'm embarrassed to admit, but that does ruin your cred. a bit. Get well soon (& get a new job, preferably out of FASHION or away from POP mags devoid of even a crumb of intellectual thought : )

  • @timjdong

    read his articles...

  • @timjdong He still writes well and his articles are good, even if the magazine is a bit questionable.Post

  • @timjdong You obviously have not read Vanity Fair, and do not understand what it means to be a contributing editor. "The contributing editor...is a freelancer.. (who) regularly "contributes" articles to the publication, but does not actually edit articles, and the title is largely honorary." Even if he did edit them, it would only be the political articles which by the way broke the stories of the tobacco industry and Deep Throat's identity. pls shut the fck up #fail

  • @timjdong What fashion new or old are you wearing today timjdong. Hitchens' scholarship, insights, positive world contribution and not to mention his bravery should be rewarded handsomely.

  • @timjdong Uh yeah it probably pays well and it also gets this man's brilliant writing out to a wider audience which then maybe, just maybe, clicked with more people and poof there are more atheists in the world. why the hell are you complaining?

  • @timjdong

I would have thought that it would have worked the other way on you and made you think more charitably of Vanity Fair. Through a fashion magazine maybe he reaches a different audience than he otherwise would, equally the presence of his article in the magazine would surely inject at least a crumb of intellectual thought. Do you just assume that anyone interested in fashion could not possibly be interested in current affairs?

  • @timjdong He brings intellectual thought to those magazines, albeit it's hard to find elsewhere in them. Try reading some of his articles on Vanity Fair's website, you won't be disappointed.

(I can't link because youtube sucks.)

  • @timjdong You're forgetting who's writing! Hitch being a sellout?? Fuck no! Vanity fair might be a fashion magazine but there is nothing uncharacteristic about his articles in it..

  • So, why don't we just call god "Nature"???

The Taoists and Buddhists don't have a problem with that.

-- and I would guess Einstein, Sagan, and Hawkins wouldn't object.

    YEA!!!!! It's settled.

    (LOL!)

  • That alpha male comment is hilarious. Silly interviewer.

  • Aw Hitch... I love you except for the idea that it's "good" to go to war over "God" politics.

I don't want anyone to die because of someone's ridiculous beliefs. If they MUST fight then let the religious fight against each other until they realize the futility of killing each other off - not to mention that their holy books say they're not supposed to take another's life. But leave my country out of it.

  • @Candyliz2003 oh so true, i love hitch too but couldnt believe it when he was for the war, and even if you are for the war you gotta realise america went the wrong way about it when 1 million civillians get killed in the process

  • Hitchens: defender of all that is good in civilization. Defender of emergent order, capitalism, and individual freedom. He is a modern Erasmus, and we will all be poorer if he does not defeat his cancer. I hope he discovers Griffin's (World Without Cancer) and Simoncini's (Cancer is a Fungus) books on cancer. The Simoncini book is newer and contains more updated information. Simoncini has a 98% cure rate. Although I'm not pro-war, I'm definitely in favor of every civilized person CCW.

  • The "Party of God" in the Middle East wants to reduce the world to beggary. How can their humiliation become understood in all the schools?

  • I don't mean to quibbble with Christopher Hitchens, but I do find it a little odd that he likes the Thomas Jefferson Memorial so much. After all, I imagine that Jefferson himself would take issue with the memorial, given that he is essentially apotheosized in the memorial.

  • I hope he ass rapes, fucks over, and bitch slaps, the cancer he has.

  • @bfoaliali you mean HITCH slaps! hehe....

  • "I think it's sexual charisma".

BAHAHAHA. Come on, interviewer. It's okay to laugh.

  • "I think sexual charisma."

Brilliant deadpan delivery went right over interviewer's head.

  • @j7m7f7 LOL, "recognition of an alpha male" LOL

  • Jesus, he's so prejudice against any religion he's willing to support illegal wars to force the creation of a secular state, no matter how improbable and destructive the outcome. This man is a true zealot.

  • i will not stop speak and write bad in english !When 9 11 accure i was 16years old!It took me 5 min to figure it out, same day i told all my friends that Americans knock them own towers! i stop watch american propaganda from that day.9years mind freedom can save u from people like Mr.Hitchens.English is not the universal leanguege the universal leanguege is love for one at all!Religion is part of contrys culture in u take this fundament out u destroy the culture(let i happen natural).NWO AGENT!

  • @mastakur i think Mr.Hitchens is NWO agent.Not u ,u are cool:D DNAunion.Real insight will come from the place we least expect it.have a nice day

  • I think hes quite intelligent, but he does clearly have his own agendas. He is essentialy no better than a mouthpiece for the US govt, because his views on Iraq for example come to the same conclusions but for different reasons. he sees that war as being about religion, when it is undeniably about oil, but that suits the US just fine, because such rhetoric embraces the leftwing in a way that the govt can't. I get the impression that hes preaching to the converted though. FORATV = propaganda

  • @ciarogciarogeile When are you people going to grow out of this Marxist Ideological straight-jacket. The War wasn't just about OIL. Without shame you lefties will pick what facts suit your case and leave out those that don't. governments

  • @Underground906 please tell me what that war is about then? since you seem very convinced of what it is without giving an alternative. I never gave you any reason to assume that i pick whatever facts suit my case, since i never gave a case in the first place. So you neednt accuse me of that. And, please, dont try to tell me the war is about "iraqi freedom", "WMD" or any of that nonsense. thats an insult to your soldiers who are dying under false pretences for no good reason. thats the shame.

  • This 500 character limit kinda makes me sound like an interventionist nut, lol- but more specifically the fanatics in the middle east, north Africa and Asia are challenging the very existence of civilization. Is this not worth intervening for? What is then?

It is entirely reasonable to say no longer will you stall the progress of humanity. And if they try to bring about their messianic apocalypse by imposing on said civilization with barbarism- we will destroy you. Is there an alternative?

  • Some of you seriously miss this: Hitchens doesn't conform to one single political ideology, what he says speaks and defends are usually based on his utterly subjective, supposed ethical and reasonable (which I agree with) feelings about these things.

The intervention in Mesopotamia is the greatest example, and its unfortunate that even the rational and atheist community don't see that the "parties of God" are pushing an unavoidable fight on us and have been since the dawn of civilization...

  • is hard to belive they are people who listen to this shit.he is obviosly brain washing expert .....americans u wont believe bush but u would believe former cia fuckers.this idiot HItchens offend my inteligens

  • @mastakur lol

  • @mastakur

"this idiot HItchens offend my inteligens"

Him do noesn't ofend me intelligents. LOL!

  • How's Iraq going Chris? Moved on to the next big thing, huh?

  • @ppbbs88

No kidding man. He is such a smart guy. I can't believe he fell into the fearful, reactionary, ignorant mode of thinking that is neoconservativism.

  • @blueshade26

Yeah. I'm not so sure he 'fell' for neoconservatism so much as took a controversial stand in order to get more attention (i.e. money and status) than he was previously getting as a leftist writer. I honestly don't think he really cares about the implications of anything he says as long as he wins whatever debate he's having, thereby nourishing his massive ego.

  • @ppbbs88 very good point.

  • @ppbbs88 those are some true words.there are still some smart people in the american union:D

  • I HOPE CHRISTOPHER,THAT YOU HAVE A SEQUEL TO "THE TRAILS OF HENRY KISSINGER" SINCE HE AND MANY OTHERS ARE WAR CRIMINALS. HE AND NIXON KEPT SECRET FROM THE US FOLKS THE BOMBING FROM 1969-73 OF TWO NEUTRAL COUNTRIES AND 500,000 CAMBODIANS AND LAOSI PEOPLE. WHERE IS THE OUTCRY. HENRY KISS-OF-DEATHINGER, YOU WILL BE FACING GOD SOON AND I HOPE YOU WITH YOUR EVIL MIND, MISTAKENLY FLY TO PARIS WHERE THERE IS AN ARREST WARRANT FROM RENE SCHNEIDER,S SON A LA OPERATION CONDOR.PEACE TOM SCHMIDT

  • WHAT A CUNT

  • cultist

  • notice that the religious never respond to the incredibly irrefutable facts that Hitchens and other critics say; they just say, "God is true, etc." Just once will they have the balls to defend the positions of slavery and barbarism their holy books declare rather than evade the questions?

  • @bitzeepapa

I would argue that in quite a lot of cases they avoid the question out of fear. They don't want to face up to the idea that their belief is nonsense, that they have wasted their life. Religion, Christian doctrines in particular, teach that even doubting the belief is evil.

  • Here I find more about CH's IW position. I must say I disagree that Saddam was religious. I've seen him on a prayer carpet bending over, bowing and what not. But he was always surrounded by his entourage, had a shit-eatin' on his face, and didn't seem particularly invested in the act. It seems to me he was more a dictator that stoked the prejudices of Sunnis to oppress Kurds and Shiites, and if he needed to use Islam to get that, he did. If he was a devout Muslim it only makes him worse.

  • @SurelyYewJest Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful.

    Seneca.

  • @VarykGerai Jesus was never influenced by religion or the traditions of men. The case made by Jesus is the One on One, perfect Unity of Himself in God and the Revelations that came of that relationship. Jesus had no sins and no doubts about Himself, but he played the part of the rest of humanity that has doubts all the time, about the fear of life and death and confusion over what everything and anything means, in Life. So Jesus is not a religion, but a person and thus reality.

  • @VarykGerai Thanks for that quote as it is new to me and I just spent an interesting half hour reading through many others. What a wise man.

  • about a dead scumbag - i love it!!!!!!!!!

  • "social charisma?" - i'm going to puke

  • he actually said 'sexual charisma'

how that effects your vomit situation...

  • @lduve1010 It was 'sexual charisma' and i think it was sarcasm.

  • what would ya do ooh ooh fora tv... bar?

  • 'The Attempted Murder of God" - Google it!

  • Wow. Anybody want to try and diagnose the mental disorder of blakebong's immature and mental tirade?

Looks like yet another christard shit himself beneath the weight of atheist provocation.

You just keep ranting, bitch. We all enjoy a good superstitious meltdown!

    Retard!

  • you fail bro, deal with it

  • @z3253304

    Go fuck your brother, cunt.

  • @DeathToAllReligions lol can't even get support on youtube, how embarrassing!

    ahahahahahahahahahahaahahahhaa

  • Americans..do you ever wonder why the entire world despises you?

  • Because American is filled with ignorant dumbasses.

  • @Blakebong

Only when we wonder why more people are dying to get into the US from their own shitty countries.

Frankly, if the US sucks so badly, why is it the most popular country on the planet for immigration, legal and illegal?

Who the fuck wants to enter australia? kangaroo-fuckers like you?

Go fuck your jesus doll, idiot. You're the most moronic troll on this thread.

    A DINGO ATE MY BABY!!

  • quite simply it is economic prosperity, safe living and acceptance of human rights. many people fleeing countries don't care that the majority of your country men are idiotic, ignorant and obese. America is a mess of a country, but it seems to work

  • @rossinator11

    LOL! Typical fucking Brit.

Enjoy Sharia law, asshole! Your country is finished. Small wonder your talent pool is evacuating (Chris Hitchens, Michael Caine, etc.). Who the fuck wants to live in Londonistan.

Take obese and shove it up your troll ass, pub-crawler!

  • @Blakebong One last comment before I go pray. If your uneducated mind was ever able to learn anything outside of your founding fathers and national anthem, you'd realise Australia is the most popular place for immigration. Refugees and the like sail from all over the world..you've just got spics running over the border!

So please, next time you want to claim Americas..uh..greatness..lol how about actually knowing something

  • @Blakebong

The only praying you're going to do is with the Muslim sandniggers streaming in from Indoneasia.

    Enjoy Sharia law, asshole!

    A DINGO ATE MY BABY!!!

  • I don't understand the relevance of your muslim law in this conversation. quite possibly your an idiot. small wonder the only talent the US actually has is in sport and is mainly due to the large amount of blacks in your country, with scum like you being allowed to breed it will be a shorrt time before all of america is semi-retarded and angry. enjoy getting shot and raped by a gang of black men.

  • I'd hardly call Christopher Hitchens our "talent pool", it's really not hard to look clever when you're debating die hard theists all the time. He's largely ignored in the UK because he hasn't produced any substantiative work, and he's usually wrong (even about his own ethnicity). However, it doesn't stop you Americans from propagating him as some sort intellectual powerhouse.

"Who the fuck wants to live in Londonistan"

    Arabs, obviously.

  • @smoochym atleast hes one of those who did something to stop this madness.

  • @DeathToAllReligions ALLOW ME TO USE MY CREDIT CARD

  • @Blakebong entire muslim world you mean?I doubt you even could say entire about that.

  • Wasn't God whispering in Bush's ear during the Iraq War? What is this 'parties of God' Bullshit he keeps going on about being only on one side. I defy anyone to say the US troops didn't think they had GOD on their side. Wasn't their daily prayer groups in the White House, Wasn't Bush a born again? Hasn't Blair adopted the mystical wankery of Catholicism. The West are not secularists. It's a very simple point... Jeez

  • You are a mentally disabled sucker who feeds on whatever crap your European media tells you. Your notion that the West isn't secular is too pathetic to be hysterical.

Go to Saudi Arabia, dipstick. They'll teach you what a religious society is.

Until then, stick your fucking head in a toilet and make it stay there.

  • Wow!! You're a pathetically hysterical hateful person. It's hilarious over the web but I imagine in person it's not a pretty sight. Spend a lot on the web?? Not many friends?? Almost every comment you've made (and there are many, lots of time on your hands?) ends with a poisonous rant!! Calm down before you have a heart attack.

  • @DeathToAllReligions God Bless you

  • @Blakebong

A DINGO ATE MY BABY! A DINGO ATE MY BABY!

  • @DeathToAllReligions ...did it? did it really? Or are you just another stupid doushe without the slightest idea about Australia so you revert to the 'dingo at my baby' call, that is actually beyond irrelevent its not funny.

I'm inclined to think the latter. To bad your such a retard, you've obviously got enough rage and hate and blackness in your soul to make a smashing Atheist.

Now I know you probably sit alone every night flaying your cock skin to a picture of Hitchens

  • @Blakebong

    That's not a knife.

    NOW THAT'S A KNIFE!

  • @Blakebong

    Mispelled "douche."

Wrote "To bad" rather than "Too bad."

    Vile, fescinine language.

Um...it's YOU who's the douchebag, cupcake. Now you run along and go back to your Mummy before she finds you missing from the playground.

PS: TIE ME KANGAROO DOWN, SPORT! TIE ME KANGAROO DOWN!

  • @Blakebong

nce a jolly swagman camped by a billabong,

Under the shade of a Coolibah tree,

And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boil,

You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me.

    Waltzing Matilda, Waltzing Matilda,

You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me,

And he sang as he watched and waited till his billy boil

You'll come a Waltzing Matilda with me.

  • @JesusSucksHorseCock Why are you regurgitators even watching this stuff? You don't have the slightest clue whats being said.

    fail troll is fail

  • @Blakebong

"Anything I say? What a marvelous philosophy you have!"

  • @DeathToAllReligions How many arab cocks were forced up your ass in the Middle East for you to be so frustrated by religion?

    I'm guessing..alot. LOL

  • @Blakebong

    Farewell to old England forever,

Farewell to my rum culls as well,

Farewell to the wellknown Old Bailey

Where I used for to cut such a swell.

    Singing too-ral, li-ooral, li-addity,

    Singing too-ral, li-ooral, li-ay,

    Singing too-ral, li-ooral, li-addity,

And we're bound for Botany Bay.

  • @DeathToAllReligions You can indulge yourself in copypasta, how wonderful

  • @Blakebong Click go the shears boys, click, click, click, Wide is his blow and his hands move quick, The ringer looks around and is beaten by a blow, And curses the old snagger with the bare-bellied yoe

  • @Blakebong

You can indulge yourself in sucking off Mel Gibson's cock and the bogus prophet JesusHorseCockSucker that he prays to.

    LOL!!!

I had no idea aussie's were such superstitious cunts. Must be all the sheep you people fuck.

  • @DeathToAllReligions Aaah..Mel lives in the U.S.A..genius

  • @DeathToAllReligions and its the Kiwis that have the sheep fucker reputation. But alas, here I am trying to educate an american, such an exercise in futility

  • You sound like a troll to me. But if you are truely religious, answer this question for me. Where is the evidence that shows tht there is a divine INTERVENTIONIST judeo-christian prayer answering entity that cares about what you do or how you live your life ?? Tell me, where is the bloody evidence ??

  • @akamola11 The evidence? The evidence? Bah! Empirical 'proof', scientific 'analysis'..these phrases mean nothing to the truely faithful, it is only through His divine grace, manifested subjectively through the causes and effects we Blessed attritube to Him that God really comes into existence.

  • Hmm, so you admit that the notion of god is purely phenomenological and there is no SCIENTIFIC evidence of there being a judeo-christian INTERVENTIONIST god ?? Ok, I think we have made some progress. Now tell me, what makes you so certain that the experiences and manifestations that you have had are the products of divine providence and not just mere accidents or probability ??

  • You are a moron

  • Wow, a guy who believes in the virgin birth and resurrections thinks I am a moron ??? Now that's Irony.

  • @akamola11 You wouldn't know the definition of irony if it bent you over and raped your ass.

I already told you i'm not serious, ergo the 'trolling troll' comment.. but considering you're attempting to convince someone you think is of faith over youtube confirms your moronic title.

But hey, who gives a fuck.

  • Why do you bring up sodomy ?? Is that a field you are highly interested in ??

Sorry, but it is impossible to detect your intentions by reading your assanine comments, and the last time I checked, youtube doesn't have any "troll detectors".

Man, you are a fucktard and a typical australian. Go fuck yourself, koala shagger !!!!

  • I'm sorry for thinking I could have an intellectual discussion with you. Obviously, you belong in a mental assylum. Go fuck yourself !!!!

  • @akamola11 ok dude..enjoy your burning damnation

  • That sounds like another way of saying "FAIRIES EXIST BECAUSE WE BELIEVE THEY DO" dude, if you wanna believe in something for which there's no evidence, it's ok. But you can't go around speaking like you KNOW it's true and be considered an adult. Sorry to be the one to tell you

  • @jamesbuckie1 Fairies do exist..prove me wrong

  • I can't, nor can i prove God doesn't exist, the point is you can't claim something without any evidence. I so happens that from what we know about the universe, it doesn't need a creator to have made it the way it is, so it seems unlikely that there is a God. Certainly not a judeo-christian one, as bible myths have long since been dispelled. You can't put the burden of DISproof of someone else for something your claiming exists without your own evidence, that's just not the way it works

  • I have evidence..i have tonnes of evidence, I keep it in a box underneath my bed.

  • @Blakebong

Since when are dried semen stains "evidence?"

  • Me thinks he was on the receiving end of some priest pounding. tormented souls like him always were. Its not so much that you are an atheist, your just anti-christian.

do some reading boy, you'll understand the differance

  • @Blakebong

There's a fairy in your bathroom mirror! Go look!

  • But seriously...i am a troll, a trolling troll trolling trolls who are trolling the greatest troll ever.

  • @Blakebong

"That there is Cundalini... and Cundalini wants his hand back!"

  • @JesusSucksHorseCock lol two last things.. bigotism is a word little boy, look it up, and I hadn't even used it

  • @Blakebong

"THAT SCAG AND HIS FLOOZIE...THEY'RE GONNA DIE!"

  • @DeathToAllReligions But I think its important to note that kind of activity doesn't get anyone anywhere.

Much the same as your senseless diatribes against any and every person of faith on Youtube.

You are seriously out of your element little boy, go back to burning the bible in public you fuckin phoney.

  • @Blakebong

A DINGO ATE MY BABY! A DINGO ATE MY BABY!

THROW ANOTHER PRAWN ON THE BARBIE, BECAUSE A DINGO ATE MY BABY!

  • @Blakebong

"I am the Nightrider. I'm a fuel injected suicide machine. I am the rocker, I am the roller, I am the out-of-controller!"

  • I'm a Night rider baby.

  • The Toecutter - he knows who I am. I am the Nightrider! I am the chosen one. The mighty hand of vengeance, sent down to strike the unroadworthy! I'm hotter than a rollin' dice. Step right up, chum, and watch the kid lay down the rubber road, ride to freedom!

  • @DeathToAllReligions You are a joke

  • @Blakebong

Buying bread from a man in Brussels

He was six foot four and full of muscle

I said, "Do you speak-a my language?"

He just smiled and gave me a vegemite sandwich

    And he said,

"I come from a land down under

Where beer does flow and men chunder

Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?

You better run, you better take cover." (Yeahhh!)

  • @Freidlon7

Also, Im surprised that you would engage so vigorously in debate with morons like DeathToAllReligions. From the name alone they are clearly:

    1. A puerile moron

    2. Troll.

Normally, I side with people who appear to oppose religion but not ones with double digit IQ and a toxic disposition.

  • @keereekee

Did you know statistically atheism is directly correlated to intelligence.

  • @Anon12356

No, I wasn't aware of these statistics but correlations can be made for any set of data...don't keep us all in suspense - is the correlation positive or negative?

  • @Anon12356 man if u belive this idiot Hitchens u must have realy lol IQ.Stupid people are his target.W-e how go learn some antropology of culture myth and religion.fucking gay people bealive only cuz they are bashed by religion.WE|LL GAYS

  • @Anon12356 And one statistical model is enough to justify everything? How about using some support vector machine to support your evidences? Or Bayesian inference? Remember that the first sign of craziness is not thinking that his own group has the absolute truth, because every group does, but that his group is superior than the others. That is how Hitler, Starlin, and Mao came into position.

  • @wormite

I'm not trying to justify anything, and I'm certainly not claiming absolute truth. That's enough strawmen thank you.

  • @Anon12356 At one time the song "Who let the dogs Out" was also very popular song statistically. Nuff said, lololol

  • @Anon12356 I did not. Did you know that the level of atheism in a given society correlates with the level of atheist thought present in its media? In the same way that if a person is born in a muslim country they are somehow more likely to be muslim? Youre a product of the society in which you were raised. Do not try to attribute your beliefs to your intrinsic mental faculties, they are not related. if you think youre atheist because youre intelligent, then youre an atheist because its popular.

  • @ciarogciarogeile

There are off the top of my head, but ...

    Belief in God:

US General Public: 80% or more

    AAAS Scienists: 30%

    NAS Scientists: 5%

In general, the more a person is educated in science the less likely they are to believe in God.

  • @DNAunion hence the attempted dismantling of our education system and dumbing down of our country

  • @Anon12356 Did you know correlation doesn't mean causation?

  • @mrzipdisk

Yes I do know that. So?

  • @Anon12356 That makes your point inconsequential.

  • @mrzipdisk

I was never said there was more than a correlation. So no, it doesn't.

  • Right, nothing more than correlation, as long as everyone's clear on that. Also I question the existence of such a correlation based on two aspects of your statement, namely the nature of intelligence as being not well understood or universally excepted among those who study it, and the fact that any evidence for a correlation would be based on a poll which are usually unreliable and can be easily twisted to get the response someone wants.

  • @mrzipdisk

Google it, some studies have been done it it. It's pretty interesting.

  • @Anon12356 Can you proove those statistics? I don't doubt them not at all, but I'd like to have the proof for debate purposes. Is there any testing/poll out for it?

  • @ProRanting

Yes, just Google "religiosity and intelligence", and you'll find a Wikipedia article that cites studies done on this.

  • @Anon12356 And intelligence is the only thing that you are living for? LOL

No, I don't live for intelligence and I never said I did.

  • @Anon12356 I doubt that since the ability to measure intelligence is very limited. There are certainly more atheist scientists than theistic ones but as far as overall intelligence is concerned I would imagine that is a difficult statistic to calibrate.

  • @Anon12356 do you have a source for that?

  • @Oxyster7

    @Oxyster7

Yes, I do actually. The wikipedia article: "Religiosity and intelligence" cites some studies on this. I can't post links in the comment section but if you just google that you will get to the article.

  • @Anon12356 thanks!

  • @Anon12356 Balls. Not so.

  • @Anon12356 Did you know that questions are follow by questionmarks.

  • @holm81

    I did actually... funny question.

  • @Anon12356 Can you send me the name of the study? I'm not trying to make a mockery of your comment; I just want to know if this is actually true, for I am an atheist myself.

  • @mahlerdude1 well its just that about 75% of humans are theists where 15% of top intellectuals are theist, not entirely sure where the numbers come from but that's the gist of it :P

  • @emikochan13 top intellectuals are theist? bullshit
