Read the tax code for yourself on the IRS website which posts the complete tax code for legal purposes. GS converted to a bank holding company, which you may have noticed has changed again since then.
They took the TARP for two reasons, due to the run on the share price and government pressure...MS was in the same boat.
GS had $150bn of assets at the time so they weren't exactly in financial strife plus Buffets $5bn investment. GS didn't want to take the TARP.

Read the tax code for yourself on the IRS website which posts the complete tax code for legal purposes. When will you understand we don't own our money it is borrowed from a private central bank (Federal Reserve) and we must pay back the interest of that loan in the form of garnished wages.

I asked my lawyer (the one who does my taxes) to show me the law saying that I was LIABLE to pay and he couldn't because there is NO LAW. The problem is, most people don't know how money is produced. I don't mean how paper bills are manufactured, but where money begins, in the first place. Not to get too complicated, our banks work on a "fractional reserve" system. That is, if you deposit 1000 dollars into a bank, that bank can lend 90% or900 dollars to a borrower. That borrower deposits his $900 into his bank who can then lend out $810 and so on. Eventually 1000s of dollars are loaned out on the basis of the original $1000.

I just read this amazing quote from a journalist who said the free market system is a system that rewards the "appearance" of profit no matter where it comes from or how real it is. This is the proof, and I hope the point where the American public realized what a failed policy "the bigger the better" is. Now please stop labeling every regulatory action 'communism' and fix this mess by modifying your system.

There are many reasons a person can be poor. Being poor does not make one a socialist. Nor does being wealthy make one a capitalist. Marx, Stalin, Lenin all led lives of extreme luxury in palaces. Forbes Magazine has said that Fidel Castro has a personal wealth of $150 million dollars. Seems the true socialists take care of themselves first, and then everyone else can share the leftovers. So, no, I wouldn't go calling Jesus a socialist.

Fidel isn't the complete definition of what it is to be socialist. Yes most companies are state run, and he does hold a dictatorship, but this is not what socialism is.

Wonderful. You go through a whole speech of how Fidel is not a complete socialist and when I ask you to enlighten me as to what a socialist would then be, you say you're not sure! Then why make the empty assertion in the first place, "sir"?

You don't have to know the exact definition of socialism to know what socialism is, and no one man can embody an entire doctrine.
I've read many of Castro's writings, as well as Ernesto Guevera's to know their ideas weren't entirely socialist. Less so for Castro. I've also read some Karl Marx, as well as studied for many years European history to have an idea of what true socialism is. But to claim to know, that's just arrogant and close minded.
