I saw this movie back in '83 and I never forgot it. I remember crying and feeling like I had to do something about all the genocide and murders going on at that time in Central America. But, I was just a young woman and mother...what could I do?
These images never left me. The powerful message left behind still rises to my memory. I have since been to Guatemala 4 times. Haven't made it to El Salvador yet. But everybody you talk to in Guatemala has lost a family member in that war.
I saw this beautiful and powerful movie on TV back in 1983. I wasn't even 15 years old yet. Thank you so much for posting this. I love all kinds of music, but you know what, Joan Baez's "Llego con tres heridas" is still my favorite song of all time.
Yes, good memory. Joan put out a LP with songs sung in Spanish and that was one of the songs sung in the movie. I wonder if anyone has put those song out on one of the song/file sharing websites? It would be worth the download.
I saw it when it came out on TV. That was in the days of VHS. I loaned it out to our local Parish priest. He loved it. I particularly like the songs by Joan Baez. Perfect match.
Just FYI: "Llego Con Tres Heridas" (I Come With Three Wounds) is the Joan Baez song (her interpretation, anyway) that is used in this scene. It has become one of my favorite songs.
Nice to see other people remembering this "little" movie :-).
May these true martyrs to peace and human dignity Rest In Peace.
I would like to watch this movie again and haven't seen it since 83 also. Does anyone have the movie downloaded to share?

"Choices of the Heart" is one of my favorite TV movies, about a true heroine, Jean Donovan. I wish this would be released on DVD.
