Who is this random guy? My point being developers have to be restrained by 1 DVD on the 360 and the games could be a lot better on all platforms if the 360 had bluray or some bigger storage space. Developers don't want to spread it out on mutiple discs because it costs too much money.

The 360 has memory for cross game chat the PS3 doesn't. Load times on PS3 are longer because of blu ray. Gears 3 and Uncharted 3 have different art styles. So really it all comes down to peformance.
You need to educate yourself on both systems. They're pretty much the same in terms of power.

Longer load times on Blu-ray are outshone by the fact that games of huge size can be fit onto one disc, while requiring 3-4 on 360. Besides, longer load times by a few seconds isn't a problem. You need to educate yourself on the situation regarding PS3 lacklustre ports.
Hideo Kojima has already gone on record and said that MGS4 would have easily been possible on the 360 and that there is very little difference between the systems the 360 and PS3 are called the "HD twins" for a reason. Blu ray does not make the ps3 more powerful it just gives it more disk space. if you compare the best looking 360 game and the best looking ps3 game the graphics gap is very small.

The 360 GPU is marginally more effective on it's own, however the PS3's CPU can handle certain processing tasks, which the GPU offloads to it. This free's up the GPU to handle other processing tasks and the end result surpasses 360. The difference is not enormous but it is very noticeable.
@Zain844 Naughty Dog explained how they made the game however, using the PS3's SPU's. It's a feat that the 360 could not handle. The 360 would churn up inside if it tried to run Uncharted 2 the way PS3 does. Uncharted 2 would be possible on 360 but they'd have to sacrifice a lot of the performance and graphics.

You cannot argue with the facts that the PS3 has much better looking games. God of war 3, Uncharted 2 &3, Killzone 2& 3 just to name a few, are above the best which xbox has to offer.
The reason people even consider xbox to be in the same league is because they program the game to work on the 360, then PORT it to the PS3. Look at PS3 exclusives like Heavy Rain too for example. They are programmed specifically for that system and are miles above what the xbox puts out.

Did anyone bother watching the gametrailer's video? I think Shofield is conveying what most of the developer community thinks and that's the current console generation has run it's course. Shofield was actually saying that they wanted this game to be more "epic" but are constrained heavily by the technology. Remember folks no matter how fast a CPU is or how good the GPU is, there's only 512MB of memory. The Vita will have more memory than this.

Dated hardware is a rather lame excuse for why a game has subpar graphics. Especially when many other titles look damn good on current consoles (hell, Gears 1 looks better than MW2). If it's really such a problem for them maybe they should consider handing over future MW games to more competent individuals and stick to making map packs. Activision is notorious for Repeat games. Take a look at Tony Hawk; its the same game every time and died out because they were scared of major changes to gameplay. Even downhill jam with its somewhat differing gameplay Sucked because it was Too Different without keeping the core tony hawk gameplay.

I think Sledgehammer is full of shit because Modern Warfare 3 IS NOT a big jump from Call of Duty 3. Activision are realizing a lot of they're fans are starting to see how dated the engine is and that its just been the same mumbo jumbo for some years now. @sTommys You must not forget that Dice has made a new engine, if you have a new engine with amazing graphics which can not be compared to MAG, building destruction, huge maps, vehicles, explosions, and without any lag is going to be hard for a PS3 to handle all of that with it's hardware. The PS3 compared to todays tech is 4/5 years behind.

I'm not sure about the PS3's hardware but all consoles are outdated a day after they are released. But as a developer you have to realize that it costs money to make better hardware and not everyone can update hardware (be it new consoles or PC parts) every year.

@Zain844 Yes because they never bothered making the PS3 version of Crysis 2 any better, even though they could do. It was the the same case as years ago in which the PS3 version simply received a port of the 360 version. Gears 3 looks top, but Uncharted 3 looks better (talking about graphics here).

@NTom92 they couldn't have made the PS3 version any better both systems are using outdated architecture. The PS3 is more powerful then the 360 in some areas but other areas it's actually weaker. The 360 has memory for cross game chat the PS3 doesn't. Load times on PS3 are longer because of blu ray. Gears 3 and Uncharted 3 have different art styles. So really it all comes down to peformance.
You need to educate yourself on both systems. They're pretty much the same in terms of power.

@Zain844 Not so. The PS3 version of Crysis 2 does not use any of PS3's SPU's and definitely doesn't take advantage of it's Cell CPU. Longer load times on Blu-ray are outshone by the fact that games of huge size can be fit onto one disc, while requiring 3-4 on 360. Besides, longer load times by a few seconds isn't a problem. You need to educate yourself on the situation regarding PS3 lacklustre ports.

Hideo Kojima has already gone on record and said that MGS4 would have easily been possible on the 360 and that there is very little difference between the systems the 360 and PS3 are called the "HD twins" for a reason. Blu ray does not make the ps3 more powerful it just gives it more disk space. if you compare the best looking 360 game and the best looking ps3 game the graphics gap is very small.

Uncharted 2 couldn't be done on 360, not in the state it appears on PS3, as Naughty Dog have stated.

The 360 GPU is marginally more effective on it's own, however the PS3's CPU can handle certain processing tasks, which the GPU offloads to it. This free's up the GPU to handle other processing tasks and the end result surpasses 360. The difference is not enormous but it is very noticeable.

The 360 would churn up inside if it tried to run Uncharted 2 the way PS3 does. Uncharted 2 would be possible on 360 but they'd have to sacrifice a lot of the performance and graphics.

You cannot argue with the facts that the PS3 has much better looking games. God of war 3, Uncharted 2 &3, Killzone 2& 3 just to name a few, are above the best which xbox has to offer.
The reason people even consider xbox to be in the same league is because they program the game to work on the 360, then PORT it to the PS3. Look at PS3 exclusives like Heavy Rain too for example. They are programmed specifically for that system and are miles above what the xbox puts out.

Did anyone bother watching the gametrailer's video? I think Shofield is conveying what most of the developer community thinks and that's the current console generation has run it's course. Shofield was actually saying that they wanted this game to be more "epic" but are constrained heavily by the technology. Remember folks no matter how fast a CPU is or how good the GPU is, there's only 512MB of memory. The Vita will have more memory than this.

I think I may end up passing on MW3 and BF3 just because of recent things that have been said and done on both sides of the fence. Activision with there "elite subscriptions" and EA with the whole "Origins" thing and there big fucking mouths when Activison try's to play nice.

@sTommys We need not to forget that MAG never had great graphics. If BF3 never had the graphics it has now then I'm sure the Console versions would be able to handle 64 players on Conquest.

@MrWASDkeys MAG also has bigger environments, more objectives in one game, each division on voice chat, cars bombs and explosions, with no lag... for me anyway, all those affect a game more than graphics.

@sTommys You must not forget that Dice has made a new engine, if you have a new engine with amazing graphics which can not be compared to MAG, building destruction, huge maps, vehicles, explosions, and without any lag is going to be hard for a PS3 to handle all of that with it's hardware. The PS3 compared to todays tech is 4/5 years behind.

LOL i find it funny... as you said mw2 is running a heavily modified version of the doom 2 engine.......... Its time for COD series to finally create its own engine with more optimization for the consoles... PC players dont care at this point that the next few cods are going be a console port...
