Is it me or is the german audience just plain more boring in the applause then italian audience. Magnificent performans and just a polite clap :s (same with the duet earlier in the opera)
Why does this video not start at the beginning of the scene: "Son io, mio Carlo.."?
Cappuccilli is wonderful, really moving. The first time he sang this part in Salzburg under Karajan was in 1975, this was the last but one performance in 1986.
Truly moving. I find Cappuccilli's rendering of Rodrigo's arias very pleasing -- very listenable and convincingly acted.
Even though Carreras has only a few lines in this scene, he adds a lot of emotional and dramatic impact -- just watch his gestures and facial expressions. The few lines also give a good hint of the tenor's voice in its prime.
The English subtitles convey the meaning of the Italian text very well. This video is a winner -- 5/5.

actually I find this to be a very lame performance of per me giunto, his tone is very monochrome and sometimes straight....and he also messes up the words at the of the aria
Nice music, Nice singing, and above all, there are lyrics...

What a touching performance by Cappuccilli. He usually as a much more powerful and heroic style, but here he is very subtle and sincere.

Yo lo ví en Munich en 1988 cantando el papel del barítono en La Forza Del Destino. ¡Fantástico! ¡ Electrificante!

He was 60 at the time. I think it's excellent considering how old he was.
