  • Thanks Justin, Graeme & Co. A beautiful song. One of my favourites

  • My life in a nutshell, today I sit like the blackbird and patiently watch everything unfold!

  • I had forgot about this song for a few years, great to hear it again. Hits the mark personally some days for me, no doubt. I have not been to so many concerts, but my two best were definitely the Moody Blues (1997 in Warrenton, VA, and 2009 in Memphis, TN)! Such a fabulous band. My favorite after the Beatles, but I may even listen to the MB's more!

  • How is it even remotely possible that they are not enshrined in the Rock and Roll hall of fame?

  • @David50s 100 % behind that.

  • @David50s Because that would mean the selection panel can actually feel something...

I also wish there was a "real" answer for that. I have many "theories", none of them bode well for the RRHOF!

  • What's amazing about these guys is how different there songs are. What creativity!

  • Reminds me of High Park 1981....relaxing...

  • @middleground00783 Amazing to think of this originating from Birmingham, as A Coventrian it chohes me to admit the moody are the best thing ever made in Brum.

  • Thanks to Ray Thomas who wrote and performed this song, a great singer.

  • i love this song...it makes me feel good when im down.ray thomas you are awesome

  • what a beautiful, strong and deep voice...wonderful lyrics and tune, a true minstrel...we have always loved you Ray, thanks for the moments of beauty you brought to our lives. Great Moody Blues. a fan since 1967. Peace...

  • @EagleGliding

Like yu, I have always luved them. Messages and just plain great music. What an incredible group. Saw them in Oakland and it was great for all around us and emotional. Lamr

  • As much as I love you, Jesus loves you so much more. He is God. Pours out love, grace, kindness, friendship, forgiveness. Oh trust Him. Ask Him into your heart.

  • @sunflower7431 i love hearing stuff like what u said, so ture

  • The Moodies were experts at employing the mellotron, which further made their songs ethereal and haunting.

  • @MoodyGirl67 i met Ray in Phoenix at an IHOP at two in the morning back in 2004, and we sat for over an hour and talked music, he has helped me with my song lyric writing, what a great guy he was, he is really missed not only as a performer, but as a kind and gentle man

  • you dont have to be my friend but just remember that wherever you go there you are stop running

  • trying to tell you to be kind to people , your not getting considering this is moody blues how i ronic and off the mark

  • love the moody blues

  • this is one of my favourite pieces of music it reminds me of a girlfriend i once had oh my!!, young love is the finest!!!!

  • I was caught in the mother of all traffic detours. Three kids in the car. I needed the "BLUES" Listening to them got me through; still relatively sane.

  • @hamcupcakes My high school sweetheart and wife of almost thirty-three years bought two tickets for us to go see the Moody Blues at the St Michelle Winery in Woodinville a week from tomorrow!!.I am SO pumped,I have loved this band's music since I was in middle school in the early 70's..................

  • @MoodyGirl67 Very pretty number. Very good singer indeed!

  • I use to lay on the floor with my head between the speakers and just get lost, its good to revisit that time now and then.

  • @glnbarb I gotta try that.......

  • I still have every one of their albums...just can't give them up.

something special about those days and that simple knowledge.

  • love this song, was brought up on moody blues from my dad n uncle, unfortunetly lost my uncle a few years ago, but this also reminds me of him, class tune x x x

  • I know what you mean. Whenever I get stressed or start to lose my way, I listen to this amazing music, and all seems right again!

  • magically off on the journey.Out of my head and the world dissapears.

  • @garybuck54 You too,eh?. I started listening to the Moody Blues when I was in middle school in the early 70's.When life beats the crap out of me,THIS is where I go to get a grip and lighten up for a while.Their music seems to get better with age................

  • Just one more awesome song from the catalogue of greatness that is the Moody Blues!

How could someone dislike this song?

  • Their music has been a big part of my life since 1967. Good stuff to grow old to !

  • an important song that we can all relate to be it sports or life,

  • Wonderful

  • You can do this three-chord song. It's only G, F, and C. Ray is a baritone, so most of us can sing it, too. The pick is a little tricky, but if you know or learn the "If" pick (by Bread}, use it. It works in a thousand songs, including country.

    Or just strum.

  • @cathode1990 Kinda makes you believe in conspiracies doesn't it?

  • I like to listen to their songs in the quiet times at night before I go to sleep and when it's raining.

  • Moodies have our souls...

  • Interesting story on how Ray wrote this song...he and his (now-ex) wife were having a spat and he went into a room by himself and started writing these lyrics. Fuuny how some of the best songs come about either after a dispute or a breakup.

  • one of the best groups ever!

  • One of mine favorite songs of all time. Such a great, deep song!!!

  • i first played this album in 1968 when i was around 9 yrs old , i loved- In search of the lost chord album... anyone who listens to the Moody Blues is truly a Friend of mine, in spirit and soul.

sincerely, Atlantian Traveler aka I Am Empowered

FEEL FREE TO ADD ME AS FRIEND

  • Then you have a lot of friends, including me

  • @IamEmpowered this album was not released until 1970.

  • and these guys aren't in the R&R hall of fame??

  • @phishfearme2 Your kidding, right?

  • kidding about what? that these guys aren't in the R&R hall (but a rapper is) doen't say alot about the hall

  • @phishfearme2 Neither is Steppenwolf.

  • @zitlight73 - i like smokin' lightning, heavy metal thunder.

  • where is john going??????????? haven't heard!

  • have seen them numerous times i will miss john lodge

  • Hey owenchantry4, Where did John Lodge go to?You mean Ray Thomas I think? He retired from the band.

  • Thank you Ray. You were always a big part of my life . Justin also you saved my life ....Thank you!

  • so many times I walked the beach of Ortly

to greet the sun rise and pondered this song and its larger meaning. I'm there now....

  • My life...

Thank you dear Ray... we miss you! Wish you good health!

  • Such a Peaceful song.

  • Ray Thomas wrote some very high quality, thoughtfull songs.

He looked more like your favourite uncle than a rock star but he is much missed from the band.

  • Favourite uncle, HAHA! He's looks like he's German.
