I had forgot about this song for a few years, great to hear it again. Hits the mark personally some days for me, no doubt. I have not been to so many concerts, but my two best were definitely the Moody Blues (1997 in Warrenton, VA, and 2009 in Memphis, TN)! Such a fabulous band. My favorite after the Beatles, but I may even listen to the MB's more!
@middleground00783 Amazing to think of this originating from Birmingham, as A Coventrian it chokes me to admit the moody are the best thing ever made in Brum.

what a beautiful, strong and deep voice...wonderful lyrics and tune, a true minstrel...we have always loved you Ray, thanks for the moments of beauty you brought to our lives. Great Moody Blues. a fan since 1967. Peace...
Like yu, I have always luved them. Messages and just plain great music. What an incredible group. Saw them in Oakland and it was great for all around us and emotional. Lamr
As much as I love you, Jesus loves you so much more. He is God. Pours out love, grace, kindness, friendship, forgiveness. Oh trust Him. Ask Him into your heart.
@MoodyGirl67 i met Ray in Phoenix at an IHOP at two in the morning back in 2004, and we sat for over an hour and talked music, he has helped me with my song lyric writing, what a great guy he was, he is really missed not only as a performer, but as a kind and gentle man
I was caught in the mother of all traffic detours. Three kids in the car. I needed the "BLUES" Listening to them got me through; still relatively sane.
@hamcupcakes My high school sweetheart and wife of almost thirty-three years bought two tickets for us to go see the Moody Blues at the St Michelle Winery in Woodinville a week from tomorrow!!.I am SO pumped,I have loved this band's music since I was in middle school in the early 70's..................
love this song, was brought up on moody blues from my dad n uncle, unfortunetly lost my uncle a few years ago, but this also reminds me of him, class tune x x x
@garybuck54 You too,eh?. I started listening to the Moody Blues when I was in middle school in the early 70's.When life beats the crap out of me,THIS is where I go to get a grip and lighten up for a while.Their music seems to get better with age................
You can do this three-chord song. It's only G, F, and C. Ray is a baritone, so most of us can sing it, too. The pick is a little tricky, but if you know or learn the "If" pick (by Bread}, use it. It works in a thousand songs, including country.
Interesting story on how Ray wrote this song...he and his (now-ex) wife were having a spat and he went into a room by himself and started writing these lyrics. Fuuny how some of the best songs come about either after a dispute or a breakup.
i first played this album in 1968 when i was around 9 yrs old , i loved- In search of the lost chord album... anyone who listens to the Moody Blues is truly a Friend of mine, in spirit and soul.
Thanks Justin, Graeme & Co. A beautiful song. One of my favourites

How is it even remotely possible that they are not enshrined in the Rock and Roll hall of fame?
David50s 3 months ago
@David50s 100 % behind that.
probrojeffro 3 months ago
@David50s Because that would mean the selection panel can actually feel something...
I also wish there was a "real" answer for that. I have many "theories", none of them bode well for the RRHOF!

The Moodies were experts at employing the mellotron, which further made their songs ethereal and haunting.
