  • approximately how much would it cost to get a plastic sheet like that? thx

  • @ny1fanta oh wow, it was a while ago, but i think i paid a couple of hundred bucks for a sheet 4ft x 8ft, 8mm thick... it will last forever though...

  • Would a 47inch octo box give a similar quality of light compared to the parabolic umbrella?

  • @redtippmann yeah sure - any large soft light source will give a similar affect. thanks for watching.

  • That was a lot of work to put this stuff together. I respect that. Thanks for posting this.

  • Great video!

  • Hi Tim, I like your stuff, great sharing!

I am building a studio and I like your wall mount bracket you have for the backlight.

Are they both the manfrotto, I'm trying to find a cheaper version or a knock off.

    Andrew

  • @TheMorts100 Hey Andrew. Thanks for your comments. The longer one (right of screen, black) is a Manfrotto 098B Wall Boom arm ($399) and the shorter (left of screen, sliver) is a Premier Wall Boom Arm WB-1690 ($140). I would only recommend the Manfrotto however, it is much more sturdy than the Premier. Your studio strobes are expensive, delicate devices, give them the best support u can afford...

  • @timmy1103 Ahh, I didnt think of BCS ! White perspex? (I'm from qld, so I'll call it that LOL) Would clear work as well seeing its on white? i.e. Could use it on black & grey also.

I heed 'advice' re the manfrotto, and of course would be better. I'm getting a floor pack, so head weight wont be a biggy, I'll get the Premier, they have a 'Strange Arm' also.

The other thing you helped me with is the foam core, I have a mate thats in the cooler business!

  • @timmy1103 Hi Tim, sometimes i got a lens flare doing your style of studio setup, is it because of the lens? im using d90 kit lens. I have 2 D90s, and so I tried with the other D90, and the other one was perfect.

  • @JoeCaliforniah I've heard that it depends about lens. If youre dead sure that you have right lighting ratios and you're still getting flare, try another lens!

  • @pastori70 it's the same D90 kits lens on both, i suspect the other copy has a bad coating on it. Also i tried 50mm F1.4, and it causes a very apparent lens flare... the same with sigma 24-70 f2.8, but not so apparent in the sigma.

  • isnt it just like plexiglas? would oviesly gettin the same effekt and will only kost around 50 bukcs

  • @CountryMaster16 it is plexiglass dude... (perspex = plexiglass)

  • @timmy1103 oh didnt know that word for it so properly its just cheaper in germany XD

  • hi, great tutorial...thanks for sharing your knowledge :-) btw I tried to access the link (5:43) you posted for the lighting diagrams that you use in this video but it's broken. Can you post it again please.

  • Awesome work! One question: what type of paper is that and where can I find that floor sheet that your model uses to stand on? Thanks!

  • @marcomention it is just a 9ft seamless paper roll that you can get from any good camera shop. The perspex plastic sheet was bought from a plastic manufacturer. just ask for a white perspex sheet, minimum 6mm thickness. it ain't cheap but will last a very long time - mine cost about $300. try the yellow pages for a supplier near you. thanks!

  • great video. you guys always do a great job.

  • cool, very well done guys!! love ya's. Deb Ash mav and Ellie hooch
