People say this is a bad song and a bad song live which I feel is sad because first, Stevie was on her cocaine addiction so cut her some slack, please. Also, this cannot be Bruce Hornsby. It sounds nothing like her. Third, if you look at her "The Other Side of the Mirror" interview, you will see that Stevie was making that album sound like a demo-album so everyone needs to understand that Stevie Nicks is probably very proud of this album and we must be proud of her for doing good all these year
@lstevens35 Not Bruce Hornsby, but I agree - he sucks. I am a big SN fan, but this is the rock bottom of her career here. Her '89 tour was God awful (Stevie claims to remember nothing of it due to Klonopin). I saw her twice in LA (Greek Theatre). The first show was miserable. She seemed to be half asleep, just standing in place & occasionally swining her skirt around in a trance. She missed notes, was aloof & looked awful. Somehow she topped this mess in '94, then came roaring back to life!
Do you think if you stuck a pin in Stevie she'd deflate? Ha!
Seriously though this song does not translate well live. It's a good song on the album but also slightly cheesy even for the 80's. Stevie's not at the top of her game with this one. I do however love the line "great temptations never really die".
This song is horrible live. The guy singer sounds like he is auditioning for American Idol on one of the bad nights. I cant believe Stevie dropped Talk to Me, Rhianon, and Juliet during this tour but kept this one in every night. I love the record version but this is bad. Stevie says she does not do I Cant Wait live because it does not sound good but this is even worse. Someone should have told that keyboard singer how bad he sounds
This is the one song of Stevie's that I do not like. I think it should have been a solo, not a duet. And don't get me started on that godawful 80's soundtrac backing her beautiful words.
Nice to get some live stuff from the "Other side of the mirror" era. The male singer overdoes it a bit, but it's really nice to hear this one live. It's always been an overlooked gem that should have done much better on the charts. Stevie sings it really well here. I have to admit that her outfit really isn't the most flattering thing she's worn on stage, though !
I actually like the male vocalist's performance. It's almost operatic, & sounds more like an accompanying vocal, rather than a duet, which I prefer anyway.
I sure understand the thought behind this: Often I have said, " There are many kinds of love." To my sorrow, I find not everyone understands that....And for Stevie to sing it out from her heart...It helps; I am not alone.
This is really pretty. Stevie reminds me of one of the talking flowers in Alice in Wonderland in this outfit. And I love how she answers the question of "Who in the world do you think that you are fooling?" with a tiny little "me?" after. There's something really sweet about that.
well wasn't this the show that Stevie filmed for the crew on that tour? She gave them all a copy of this one at the end of the tour I do believe. And that show was DEFINATLY San Jose. It's the only one from this tour in this quality minus the Houston show where the Whole Lotta Trouble video was shot.
I have this concert and it is from San Jose. Stevie even says "how many kinds of love are there... San Francisco says 2 kinds of love" at the beginning. San Jose is a suburb of San Franciso. This is from the earthquake concert where all proceeds went to the 1989 San Francisco quake victims.
You hit the nail on the head. I love this song too but this live performance is the worst live Stevie song EVER. I hate the keyboard player when he sings and keeps yelling at the end. He tries to be so dramatic when he sings and it drives me crazy. This is a very weak performance. I saw this live in 1989 and wish I could see Juliet live again.
Stevie did Juliet live on only a few dates during the TOSOTM tour. I was lucky to see it live but I hated the set list for this tour. With songs like this live and the others, it put me to sleep.
love ya!!!! you rock stevie,this song makes me cry, so much emotions.....;

Ah, the Grand 80's! She is so happy here and sounding lovely. Must be hot though in her dress...though as always she is sooo elegant!

I think it is great and no matter what she is dressed in, I am sure you would like her fame, so quit knocking her.Have a great day

The slick asshole on keyboard is just so pompus. Stevie is kind of sexy, but in an
over-aged baywatch babe kind of way.
