Someone came from British Columbia told me that there are lots of oil wells that are capped and no company wants to use it because it would force the price of gasoline to fall below $0.50 per litre. And it would allow Canada to become independant from foreign oil. Well? Then then is no need for tar sands. Trillions of barrels yet no one want to mine that oil in Pink Mountain.
The workers at the tar sands mining sites should be heavily exposed to these pollutants. These workers should show very high rates of cancer. Do they?
If you would like to help in this situation, please help us get the government's attention. sign this petition to reduce the production. the growing industry is too fast and too damaging.

@indu24 i have been compiling and posting petitions, rally dats and statistics to my blog.. the proposed Keystone XL pipeline has me terrified for our land, water, air and future. see kim-hunter.blogspot.com
Oil powers the entire world. You seem to have no concept of how things work. Maybe you need to retake grade one. Alberta has a gift and we're using it. We extract oil from the earth. Look at the way they do it in Africa, you'd probably shit yourself. Do your homework retard!
have you given any thought why America imports the majority of its oil from Alberta? Have you given any thought to what America's proven reserve is as of today? Have you given any thought about what will happen to the world when the last drop is extracted from the Earth's crust sometime by the end of this century?
You may want to take some of your own advice .... get an education.
@perfectbark Honestly I will agree pollution is very bad, but you should know that International Oil Statistics prove that the world is not running out of oil, for every 3 tons extracted 5 new tons are found, that is specifically in regard to the oil sands. Do you know what would happen to the economy if oil extraction stopped? Do you know what would happen to jobs and unemployment, don't tell someone to get an education unless you can back it up THE WORLD IS NOT RUNNING OUT of OIL
@perfectbark are you asking ironically or do you want me to actually go into detail? Sadly you do have a point though if consumption goes up oil will actually run out... but not any time soon, Canada has enough oil in the tar sands alone to power our country for 475 years and the world for 100. It is a tough subject, the world needs oil, oil causes damage... what would you suggest?
i live in alberta and that is such bullcrap. We'll cut you off from our oil and you can buy from the middle east if thats how you want it. Oh, and I forgot to mention that they'll give the money to their terrorists to attack you. Go f%#$ yourself BBC!!!
@daparkstaman522 I live in alberta to so go screw yourself moron.Oilsands polute on a horrific scale. Any idea what Bitumen is? Did you know that cat's scraping the surface in winter disturb den's and kill about 200 black bears and cubs every winter! Not to mention other wildlife they kill. But fuck it we might as well turn the whole earth into an industrial poluting and nature killing zone. You obviously don't know your own ass from a hole in the ground. We don't need oil!
So says the documentary produced with equipment and energy procured from fossil fuels. >.> Seriously the company does not mine the stuff for shits and giggles, the do so because whether you like it or not, the standard of living we the consumers have become accustom to demands it so.
The athabasca river flows north, all the sites are south, which any pollutants would flow north just to clear that up, however the companies that mine the oilsand aren't to blame for the pollution, the oilsand itself is guilty of the pollution just for being where it is. some places the oil is only a couple (2') under the ground, so it rains water soaks into the ground, oil separate viola natural pollution, from oil which has always been there.
Its funny how much BS that study is. Of course it is higher downstream of the plants. They build those plants where the oil is at the surface and easy to get too. Therefore, all that oil that was always leaching toxins is continuing to do so. When the plants are finished extracting and cleaning up the natural oil spill most of the toxins will be gone. The natives would use the seeping bitumen to seal their canoes for centuries. What a crock of BS this is.
I rather get my oil from alberta then usa or mideast. as canada we should be burn are own oil till we can find greener solution. This attention is nothing more then shift attention of disaster of BP oil

@jacintobandito yup, a bit of digging past the propaganda exposes ample oil reserves in the US alone. thank you for being awake.
