Go for it! You really should take the MSF course. They will teach you the proper way to ride and handle a bike. It costs $200.00 Tho, but it is well worth it because you will learn things to save your life. Also, if you do decide to start riding, look into the 2008-2009 Kawasaki Ninja 250r's. They make excellent starter bikes, and you will learn alot and have fun. I wouldn't reccomend starting out on this Beast of a Bike, unless you like the taste of pavement. Gear up, have fun, and be safe.

@codymcswain I agree with you mostly, but I rode about 1k miles on my permit on my first bike (GSX-750) before taking the MSF and I kind of disagree with some of their concepts...like their dodge and low speed maneuvers..works on the little GZ-250's they had there (which I absolutely loved btw, you can beat the hell out of those things, lol), but on a sport bike a decent amount of their teachings would result in eating pavement.. I'm not sure how I feel about that - but road test wavier = win.

@codymcswain Hmm, I think the r6's are great starters and they're easier to get than ninjas. I want a ninja too, but no one is selling it in my country. Will have to search for it in the UK. There are many r6's sold here though...

@Hockeylead No, there's one course through the MSF, the Motorcycle Safety Foundation Basic Rider's course. In most states a pass from them gives you a freebie from having to take your road test. Not sure what the $25 ones are, but that is not what he's talking about. They're all through the MSF, all basic riders courses are $250. There's also an advanced rider's course, in which you bring your own bike...I don't know much about that except I want to take it at some point.
