  • i go to aima thats our school now

  • Intense

  • any one know a fighting style that is stricktly kicking? if you do please let me know.

  • @gioVL1 Muay Thai, period.

  • @gioVL1 taekwondo

  • i like the look of sikaran very similar to tkd

  • tanong ko lang po, bawal po ba ang blocking sa sikaran? kahit bloccking gamit ang paa bawal po ba?

  • oh yeah martial arts ng mga pinoy XD

  • I tot sikaran is a Filipino martial art?

  • @youneveri it is. it's a Filipino martial that originated from Central Luzon here in the Philippines. Farmers from this regions were the first practitioners of the sport. :-)

  • @skubbzter awesome thank u

  • @youneveri your welcome! :-)

  • Ferrer is a superb martial artist. But there's no way you can tell me the young fellow that the camera is centered on from 0:30-2:00 is a blackbelt. He obviously has no idea what he's doing. He's looking around, has poor form and is making errors. Should have put him at the back.

  • BASED ON WHAT I SEE YAW-YAN IS MORE EFFECTIVE IN SPORTS WITH IT'S LOCKS AND TAKE DOWNS AND ITS KICKS WHILE SIKARAN IS MORE EFFECTIVE IN SELF-DEFENSE WITH IT'S FAST AND QUICK MOVEMENTS... BUT DEFINITELY ITS UP TO THE FIGHTER NOT THE STYLE.....

  • @washburnguitaryellow yes i agree

  • Looks alot light Kuntaw kung Fu from the P.I.

  • looks like karate to me :) with a little bit of ellbow an knee

  • nice video man! makes me wanna learn this martial arts

  • Kali and Escrima looks totally different. This looks more like karate with some local, filipino elements.

  • @patryka11 haha.. yo buddy. :) Kali is the Name of Filipino Martial arts or system, Escrima is just one of the system. anyway Escrima is not a Filipino word, it's Western, Spanish i think.

  • @rednier stop lyin

  • bkt ganyan ang sikaran nila? parang karate hndi kagaya ng ibang group. hndi na traditional to eh pero maganda nmn thumbs up parin ako!!

Shodan Carlos Ramos.

  • nice -- super

  • I used to take lessons from this guy. Good teacher! I'm considering getting back into it.

  • YAw-Yan pa din ang matinde.. parang karate lang dating ng sikaran pero respeto pa dn ako..

  • anu ung sikaran ?>

anung klaseng martial arts yan ....

  • @1:30 looks like a power ranger changing uniform dance XD

  • Nice Karate/ TKD

  • I train with Vic

  • hey.... whos channel is this. like whats your name?

  • Filipino Martial arts is one of the best systems. Its got grappling (dumog) Sikaran (kicking kinda like TKD) Panantukan (empty hands) Pananjackman (might have spelled this wrong but this is low lying kicks that are suppose to disable your opponent) And FMA has healing arts as well. Weapons art. Kali sticks, staff, knives, swords, flexable waepons.

  • parang karate

  • I'm not trying to bag on anybody's style but this to me looks more like tae kwon do. Don't get me wrong, alot of people imagine competition kicking when they hear tkd. In a traditional sense before tkd became popular, sparring matches looks virtually the same as Sikaran. I admit at least in our school, we do use more hand techniques then the average, but the kicks more or less flows the same way.

  • kla q paa lng sa sikaran...

  • the stance and the katas are nice but that is not sikaran.. it doesn't involve punching even in sparings!

  • no offense to your master, i do respect his martial arts techniques but it is not even close to SIKARAN PRACTICES. if he come to your place and say im gonna teach you taekwondo but im a filipino, are you gonna believe him? definitely not. SIKARAN means FOOT KICKING came from the root word SIKAD. there is only one organization who really knew about SIKARAN ORIGIN and practices and inherited its blessings from the legitemate practitioner of SIKARAN the forefathers of BARAS farmers not Geronimo.

  • @Rhyeszenken101 i agree with you im a former sikaran practioner i do compete in tournaments several times ..i do know as what my mentor told the root of sikaranwas in baras and the founder is mayor meliton geronimo..sikaran is filipino art of footfighting..and i remember "biyakid"...

  • @Rhyeszenken101 The art we practiced in the video was Mano- Mano Sikaran. A mixture of punches and kicks.

  • @codshinobix3 I understand, we appreciate your dedication to promote SIKARAN as well but there is no such thing as Mano-mano Sikaran. Mano-mano is a filipino arts using arms for fighting and Sikaran is a foot fighting. for sure that the Mano-mano club will disagree of what you've posted. similar to all other martial arts they will not like mixing their martial arts unless the instructor have no clue at all of what he's original style.

  • @Rhyeszenken101 lol thats not 100% correct

mano-mano is a system that is divided into multiple diffrent arts. if you would like me to tell you these arts i will be more than happy to

  • @orenmcgrath huh!? divided into multiple different arts.. are you sure? composed of different filipino martial arts? because the name speaks to itself "Mano-Mano" ang tagalog term of this is "PAMBUNO". There is no mix arts in Original Filipino Martial arts. Are you a Filipino?

  • @Rhyeszenken101 no but i do train under master ferrer's students and on occasion under him personally

  • @orenmcgrath i don't mind about the Mano-Mano at all. w/o do respect to anybody, the only concern is that there are instructors that doesn't know the real SIKARAN and trying to mix it with other styles that does not make any sense. SIKARAN is the ancient art of Filipino Foot Fighting.

  • @Rhyeszenken101 you do know that master ferrer was born and was taught sikaran in the Philippines right?

  • @codshinobix3 we are Sikaran practitioners.. solid Sikaran training, you do not need to mix it with other style. but i will guarantee you that this martial arts can compete in all other martial arts even UFC's. Sikaran also train their arms but never use it for striking in sparring but if we are fighting other style we can but we choose not to coz we are trained enough for us not to used our hands to strike.

  • @codshinobix3 Actually the word "Mano-Mano" came from spanish word w/c means man to man in english but if you use it to all Filifinos specially in Tagalog, it is means SUNTUKAN, DUMOG & PAMBUNO. all of them are hand striking, grapling and submission. they might use some foot stricking but that is not what SIKARAN is. The reason why you can not mix those two. they are very distinct to the people that really knows about it.

  • @Rhyeszenken101 thank you

  • hello guys, you got cool stuff for the UFC. i dont think that you guys even come close to the real SIKARAN. never mention kata at all because KATA came from the JAPANESE WORD. SIKARAN is the Ancient art of Filipino Foot Fighting utilizing 90% of foot technique and 10% for the hands. no grappling and grabbing. no offense, you guys have a cool martial arts but that is not a SIKARAN AT ALL. your just using the name because your master is a FILIPINO. i knew all about THE REAL SIKARAN.

  • pretty good the way martial arts is looking these days especially traditional.. pretty damn good

  • TEAM CANADA FTW

  • She's kinda cute.

    1:28

  • with all due respect to this art kata is no more applicable in the street,in real combat its a waste of time and effort

  • @Angelo004 Then you don't understand the purpose of kata.

  • try to fuck up these guys and youll be sorry for the rest of your life this is for real world..

  • lol, fancy spinning kicks? really?

  • I wanna try this out.

  • I train there

  • sikaran was based on taekwondo....

its unorthodox so there are a lot of difference in styles and training...

  • they have some similarities with taekwondo..but all in all..it's still different...rocks!

  • it really different to tae kwan do when he spin kicks he clips his legs to complete recover in taekwando they dont clip they throw it back to there stance lesser recovery

  • true true

  • Master, I like these kicks, spinning hook, and side kick.. all look great!

I didn't think filipino martial arts would have such techniques!

Did you take other martial arts school, taekwondo or something?

  • thats not true

i traing under guru ferrer's students and to my knowledge he has nto done any other martial that would influence this martial art

and btw, philipino martial arts focuses very much on technique

  • i used to do sikaran back in my elementary... and a used a bit of it in my muay thai studies,

  • the blonde at 1:32 is hottttt

  • i used to do sikaran when i was younger alongside my dad........my dad got 4th dan, but our sikaran had aikido mixed with it because an ex-ISAFP (philippine intelligence agency) was the sensei of the club.........

  • i can't really mention his name coz' he's awol by blowin' his cover in one of his assignments, and he's back in the phil (well god know's what happened).........but he's a really great mentor, very humble, simple, not a wierd karate freak and a hardcore sensei, any1 thinkin about joinin' sikaran......don't hesitate, or you'll regret it, coz' i regret leavin it 10 yrs ago. peace out.

  • is this a full contact sport and does it use elbows because im still deciding weather to do this or mauy thai

  • Not knocking this. it looks great, but a lot of the kicks looks like TKD/karate kicks. Real sikaran are very low trapping kicks.

  • Isn't Sikaran a kicking-only martial art?

  • yea lol

  • vraiment bien, belle video

    bravo!!!!

  • I have competed against Master Ferrer's students. They are first rate in the ring and out. It is truly a pleasure and an hono r for me to say I know this humble man and some of his students. Greetings from Fort St. John.

  • They look really great and i see the application with the stick art they do, but honestly it looks more like karate than filipino. Dont get me wrong, it looks great. but isnt sikaran more low line kicks?

  • no sikaran is high, low and mid, i think your talking about Pananjakman

  • I know what panajackman is. Not to start an arguement with you, bu tI asked my instructor about it and hesfilipino. He showed me footage on what sikaran looks like.

  • and yah am a pure Filipino too, so and am just correcting the low kicking bud... tang ina mong puting gago ka, napapakaalam-alam man ka pa WALA KANG ALAM BOBO

  • Well I'm afro american so I cant argue on that one. But most of the kiccks ive observed have been low line and trapping the legs. Not knocking what hes doing. It looks good though.

  • ok good, try to be nice next time, tarantadong uleng, sabihan mo ang guro mo ng turuan ka ng mabuting asal hah wag puro dakdak... Character- a ruffian has no place in Arnis let alone in sports.taught the moral values of everything.

  • Okay have no idea what you just said. I'm sorry, but I dont speak Filipino.

  • hey have yo seen tha very last Part...with the women!.. that is THE REAL SIKARAN.... its base on SILAT kicking moves. really..

  • and ya all that yer saying is true!.

  • this is damn hell.... This looks like combination of all martial arts and arnis... Wer can I enroll?

  • owned..xD

  • i go to black rangers sikaran arnis im a white belt black stripe

  • nice more power FMA

  • A kicking moved in Sikaran Arnis was adopted by Taekwondo. I believed it is called the biakid.

  • yup, you're right

    a fun fact:

TKD adopted the biakid as more of a distance, defensive technique, whereas Sikaran used it originally for a closeup counter technique.

  • I love how the guy hits him with his foot in 1:13.

  • damn this kinda looks like karate kickboxing

  • damn that sounded like it hurt her foot! lol this looks awesome though! I'm tryin to find some form to take up....

  • sikaran...the best!

  • OMG this is my master's teacher in sikaran

the club that i go to is the acadamy of intergated martial arts in richmond hill, ontario

  • As a martial artist myself i look around the internet and i see ALOT OF CRAPY school around, and i see some videos that just make me cringe im happy to say this did not do that to me. There were martial artest in this video not show boaters like i see so much of.

    thank you.

  • hurray for lakewood!!

  • just I only know that, sikaran differs on tae kwondo is the critical hit you gain the first time you hit. plus the kicks are invulnerable even you counter hit the chain of combos will easy to execute. If two master will fight I will go for sikaran.

  • "Sikaran is a form of Filipino martial arts whose history dates back to the early 1500s before the Spaniards came." (from a well known generic website)

  • my 13 yr old will be in leyte for 5 weeks. he is versed in BJJ and Tae Kwon Do (here in US). we're looking for a school he can sit in and take in lessons in carigara leyte. or Tacloban. any suggestions?

  • there in lakewood

  • guys this is my master in sikaran

  • do you know sir dantie hes my master

  • have you guys heard of kino mutai? its like filipino jiu jitsu, but it is completely self-defense. They incorporate...biting. haha check it out.

  • wow may kata. pinoy nga!

  • What is the name of the form from 0:28 to 0:58? I can never remember the name right. It was one of my favorites at my Sikaran dojo. I'd still be there if it weren't for college and work.

  • laxman

  • this is at saskatoon

  • why?

  • they call the "tornado" kicks... biakid (sickle kick). and Sikaran is very close to taekwondo due to the emphasis on kicking techniques. but the guy already pointed out that the only difference is the technique and aggression of execution. think of it as having karate's stability with taekwondo's kicking techniques.

    mabuhay

  • yes. it is very similar to tae kwon do. but the difference that i see is the effective and aggressive style of traditional FMA ManoMano. the kicking is very flashy and strong but i doubt a lot of the tornado kicks will contact opponents. brazilian jiu jitsu still wins in my opinion. Mabuhay.

  • i love that guy's form at 1:02

  • nice to see foreigners studying our art!!!! mabuhay!!!

  • sikaran owns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Interesting. Some of the moves are eerily similar to Taekwondo. Then again lots of Asian martial arts have similarities to one another. Great to see Sikaran on Youtube though. Mabuhay!

  • he has nice control of his moves.

  • im the son of EDWIN B. ENRICOSO CHAMPION from iligan to cagayan noon.... full body contact

    sana may nakakakilala sa kanya

  • bai... ILIGAN ROCKS!!
