However, 5% of all vehicles produced have to be handed over to the party/state/workers. It will help with the modernization of their military.
@horsie111 Minor diversion of resources from military to agricultural infrastructure would give DPRK a lot of long-term growth. If they could make their military more efficient and focus on quality instead of massive size/quantity, they could possibly reduce spending (at least as a percent of GDP) and divert the savings to agricultural infrastructure (especially modern tractors, better fertilizer, etc). I believe they should sell off some of their older equipment to finance new purchases.
@OhioGuy19 Specifically they should sell some of their older weapons to African states that cannot afford the latest/greatest and that would be glad to buy T-62 tanks and other weapons systems of that era, and use the money to finance the acquisition of T-80 tanks and other systems from that era/generation, especially the BTR-80s and BMP-2s. They also need to focus on the acquisition of at least a few thousand RPG-29s for use by their anti-tank infantry units.

Watching this should remind everyone in a democratic country why it's important to stand up to dictators. We should be smuggling arms into North Korea and supporting an armed resistance to this despotic tyranny. It's a moral imperative to resist and not a choice. No one ever got anywhere from negotiating with animals like Kim Jung Ill. I'm not advocating direct military intervention, but at least, give the North Koreans the chance to free themselves by supporting their armed cause.

@horsie111 DPRK does NOT need a change in leadership. My personal belief is that DPRK needs to use fascism to strengthen and consolidate their juche socialism. If they can reasonably assure that they will not nationalize assets, then foreigners may begin investing in DPRK and helping build up their industry, even despite US/NATO/imperialist sanctions.
Italy attained near autarky (self-reliance) in the mid 1930s after the League of Nations sanctions forced it to do so.

@OhioGuy19 Specifically I believe DPRK should reach out to Japan and get Toyota to set up some plants in DPRK, with the understanding that the plants will NOT be nationalized unless Japan directly attacks DPRK or allows American troops to use Japan as a base/staging area to attack DPRK, otherwise the plants are safe and Toyota will always own them. However, 5% of all vehicles produced have to be handed over to the party/state/workers. It will help with the modernization of their military.

@horsie111 Minor diversion of resources from military to agricultural infrastructure would give DPRK a lot of long-term growth. If they could make their military more efficient and focus on quality instead of massive size/quantity, they could possibly reduce spending (at least as a percent of GDP) and divert the savings to agricultural infrastructure (especially modern tractors, better fertilizer, etc). I believe they should sell off some of their older equipment to finance new purchases.

They also need to focus on the acquisition of at least a few thousand RPG-29s for use by their anti-tank infantry units.

NATO is afraid to invade DPRK because of the military power of DPRK.

Of course I do not know anything, but I do not believe in these standard anti-communist propaganda. I think it is hypocricy on the one hand to threat and isolate NK by trade and finacial sanctions worldwide, and than say the problem is communism. Any country in the world need trade to survive - same with Cuba and there it is not only an USA embargo, the USA blocks ships worldwide from entering an US habour when it was in Cuba during the last years.
