I've been a fan of Jimmy Shand (and Scottish music in general) for quite a few years, and I've got to say, what you have created here is quite brilliant. You've got the timing right, and the two songs merge very well. Great job.
My Dad - Bill Nicol - knew Jimmy personally - he was nothing like the guy you saw on telly!! He drove a big fuck-off motor bike at high speed...basically he was a musician!! I think he would have loved this!!
@RMCKIE Jimmy Shand was much better as in he was white, or a rapper, or could play the three row melodeon like no other?????? Sir Jimmy would without doubt take offence at your unfortunate comment. At least 50 Cents brought the music if Sir Jimmy to loads of people who'd never heard of him and a generation od Scots who were in danger of not knowing who he was.

50 Cents gets the big nod from me for his creative effort - I hope he does this in concert - there's a little bit of genius, musical openess and a big mind on show here. How bloody clever. Thanks.
PS I've loved Jimmy Shand's music ever since I first heard it.
I really don't know why people are getting wound up over this. This is funny purely because it's 50cent to accordion music. That in itself is just funny. There's no hidden message and no connection etc. Why must people over analyse everything on youtube???
If your Scottish and you canna smile at this check your birthlines you may find you been adopted from english parents. and another thing the japanese used jimmy shand music as a torture weapon they superglued scottish prisoners of wars feet to the floor and played jimmy shand albums to them so they couldna tap there feet !!!!{its an old joke that} try not tapping your feet its inpossible especially after several pints of heavy!!!!

I find The Bluebell Polka a great driving tune. You can clench and release your arse to the beat as you drive along. Shite! That sounded gay as fuck! Fuck! So did that! I'm off.
There is actually no connection between these two, but there has been a lot of contact from legal representatives of Jimmy Shands estate on this song being aired.
I am not that stupid thickhead. Now pay attention! What is Jimmy Shands connection with 50 cent. If you cannot understand I will make it simple for you. What would be the connection if Bugs Bunny was singing with Jimmy Shand? Twit! Give me strength!
Well you mightn't be that stupid, but it was ypu who posed that stupid question. There is actually no connection between these two, but there has been a lot of contact from legal representatives of Jimmy Shands estate on this song being aired. I know it was taken off of here before over such complaints, I do though have a copy of this version, and will email it to anyone that wants it, if they message me with their email address. It's too good not to spread around the world, aint it !
This is a piece that genuinely deserves the title "AWESOME". For anyone interested I think the music is a "Strathspey". Jimmy was born in Buckhaven, Fife and there is still a street named "Shand Terrace" there. The juxtaposition (GET ME eh?) of Fiddy and Jimmy is the best ever!
billyconnearly - I agree 100% that the juxtaposition(!) of music styles is "awesome" but Shand's band arenae playing a strathspey. It's "The Bluebell Polka"!
well spotted londonscot - i posted that and about ten minutes later it hit me! I'll never live it down as I've played drums for 30+ years! It must be true what they say about drummers right enough.
Ah, I see my mix is back up again - if anybody wants an mp3 of it then give me a message through youtube. I remade it a while ago and its clearer and more in time (although the messy original with the glitter beat that you can hear here is probably still better!)
Jimmy Shand was my grandpas cousin, and they were really close, and I know that if my grandpa were alive today he would be laughing he socks off at this!
man i love this. i think its the jimmy shand bit that has you tapping along. i'm not sure whether to dance a reel or be acting all non plus and nodding ma head along to 50

He's got an 80+ year headstart.
Anyway, there is NO tune to that other performance that 50 cent is doing.
Yes, 50 Cents is about all his effort is worth.
Jimmy reigns supreme.
We DO have to remember though that maybe two generations separate these genres.

Nae bother, billyconnearly - to be fair, it does sound a lot like a strathspey!
Like yourself, I played in a Scottish dance band for quite a few years (keyboards), hence, in my case, "a little knowledge can be dangerous"!
But I gave it up after moving to BorisTown (AKA London).
