I'm sure I got the ISS on 145.8 last night on the base scanner, using a 2m/70cms colinear I used to transmit with. I know you need a Yagi to keep hold of the signal for longer. I'm sure the language spoken was Spanish.
Would like to do APRS not as much GPS, 7R looks real nice, can get a relatively cheap Yagi 2m/440 antenna. Thanks for the info. I will have a Tech license to start in the states.
@jss672006 I wish you good luck with your license. I pass mine last year here in UK. All the best and maybe next time on air - 40 or 20M if not echolink ! `73
@jss672006 Hi, Waste of money really. I have VX-7R tri bander(TX on vhf/uhf and 6m band / 51Mhz) with extended tx anr rx. I had few ht`s and this one is the best. All you need is software to download all freq. and cable. All you need as well is good antena. If Mobile go for watson tri bander+mag mount, house - vertical dual or tri bander or if you want to go full pro cross yagi - best for satelite reception, but you need to know all coordinates+rotator = expensive :) Good luck and `73
They are over the uk at the moment most nights about 21:30. I have been giving them a shout but nobodys been on. Well they were at the begining of the week but the batterys in my handheld were flat so a couldn't get back to them running 0.5 Watt max.... If you go onto the NASA site you can download a list of times when it will be over your house...
Hi and thanks for watching. You can found all the ISS and Nasa frequencies on line very easy. Main downlink freq. is 145.800 FM. There is UHF frequency mainly use for uplink aswell. To communicate with you need to have Radio License and your callsign, radio equpiment VHF/UHF, cross yagi antenna to transmit, tracking sofware. To receive all you need is vhf radio,antenna (vertical, dipole, yagi antenna verticlly polarized. All the best and keep listening! `73
@radicalone71 it is a amateur radio frequency you might not be able to just use any radio or scanner but alot are programmable to ham bands(amateur radio)
nice catch, i can find iss passes but how do you know if there will be tranmissions from the iss or do you just have to listen and hope,i know some times there are radio operators on board the iss from burt
Hi, to be honest with you Yaesu, Icom, Kenwood these manufactures are the best. My all radio equipment is Yaesu. Vr 120 it is a superb scanner, quick scanning, very selective. Most people have a problem with programming. Manual its not user friendly, but after few hours you will be fine. About prices - cheapeast I found its abou 120 quid. I have this scanner more then 2 years - no problem at all. If you want some more info about it go to EHAM website. Many thanks and good luck!
For listening ISS you dont need to have license. Some bands are banned for listening. I have radio amateur license. So next time when you will be listening on ISS it coudl be me :)
Oh yeah! on 80m band or 160m band - no problem :) Or even through IRLP on 2m band. Do some research on the internet and if you need some help - sent me email. Good luck `73
Hi, Yaesu VR 120d with original antenna rubber ducky. I know video is short - battery was dying on my nokia :) Any way transmissions from ISS are very short (downlink).
Could you eventually talk back to them ???

@morval99 you said
"You received this with the rubber duck?" the ISS is a few houndred meters above the earth so you dont need more antenna.
