@flubno I agree I feel bad for people who believe the bible crap. I also realize I know more about it than they do, many just go to church but haven't read it fully
If you actually read the bible all the way thru, there is just as much viloent stuff as there is morality. All in all, it's a wack book, doesn't make any sence. For brain washed people who think that this primative book is the word of God of the universe, i feel sorry for you.

But we must show tolerance, because if we don't then all we will breed is hate.

@colourmegone What that evangelist, and most like the person doesn't realize, is that we're willing to admit to our mistakes in our 100 year old book. They however are too stubborn to see flaws in their beliefs
@olafurhh03 Yeah. I'm black, and my family is from Somalia. My family were never slaves (as far as I know), but whenever people start talking about slavery around me they have this thing where they think my family was involved in it. Somali people don't even look west African, we have pretty unique facial structure compared to them (like Lebanese and German people). Not that there's anything wrong with being African American, I always get mistaken for one is all I mean.
@Mythodiir Somalians don't have pretty unique facial structure. Ya'll look like malnourished aliens! How in the world were you mistaken for an american black when the two groups look totally different.
@AmericaHasToGo Malnourished aliens? That's because of starvation, and that's not the majority of Somalis it's just an unlucky few. Anyone would look like an alien if they were deprived of food, and water. Also compared to most Africans Somalis have a very different structure, it's probably because it's one of the only places in Sub-Saharan Africa with a really large desert area. Also I don't get how I could get confused for an African American but it happens.

Like I said, I don't condone the use of violence, but that moral seems evident. I don't know if you can immediately assume that Jesus agreed with the views of the people in his parable, that's what literalists do - I don't think he is actually saying that Peter are actually going to be beaten if they're not watful, or that jesus wants to kill people
@ConradW "48 But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows."
I see it as someone who doesn't know about Jesus or his laws etc, who lives in darkest deepest Africa worshipping jungle demons or cargo cults, who will still be judged according to the standards set by Jesus and will therefore still be punished for something he did not do and had no control over. Because we're property. Jesus actively compares us all to slaves! Deuteronomy 7:6
@ConradW Luke 19:27 "But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them--bring them here and kill them in front of me." How much clearer could it get? @ConradW The landlord is a metaphor for the Christian god and the killing is a metaphor for what god will do to those who don't obey him when he returns. Some will have spiritual death, others will say eternal torment in hell. But it's punishment nonetheless. Severe punishment. For something god failed to do.
@ConradW Did you also notice how this servant who does all these wicked things in god's absence is assigned a place with the unbelievers? (Luke 12:46) Indeed, according to John 3:18 you are condemned for not believing. It not only offends them, it's a crime! Thoughtcrime! Unbelievers are literally equated to criminals in Luke 12:46. We're literally forced to believe, even if there's no good reason for it. Hell, ESPECIALLY if we don't have a good reason for it: faith is preached as a virtue!
@viridismonasteriense I did indeed notice it, and I'll admit it does seem out of place. @Killedkennyagain The timing of your comment is impeccable. I've just tonight launched T.E.E.T.H. (Trolls for the Equal and Ethical Treatment of Humans). Check out the vid on my channel. Warning: I be ugly.
The exegeses and development of religious canon is very interesting and (to the dedicated cynic, at least) explains a lot of editorial decisions.
You also hear, "Less horrible than the alternative, so really it's very progressive and kind" responses regarding the directives of any religion that developed in tandem or as the strict sponsor of a state.
I'm pretty sure one of my ancestors was a slave because I'm half black. That's probably why I'm one of the fastest kids in Southern California because my ancestors were slaves and worked all day...wait that didnt really make sense but I wonder why I'm so fast.
it doesn't matter how ridiculous it may sound. People did things differently in the past. If not for HOLY YAHWEH there would be NO mercy for slaves or freemen. You are a slave to SATAN and you need to pray for freedom from your ignorance.
@43alley A question they can never answer. Why do have more civilized laws here in 21st Century USA, Britain, Canada, Mexico, Australia, etc., than BibleGod had back then? It is because there is no god, and humans are evolving socially, morally, and ethically as well as biologically. It has nothing to do with any imaginary sky-magician granting our wishes.
@ElveeKaye Your "civilized" laws came from Christians following Christ's example. In the Old Testament God was emphasizing His justice. In the New Testament He's emphasizing His mercy.
@43alley If you ever read the bible you will come across the scripture Where YAHWEH speaks against "stealers of men ". Or how about setting the captives free ? You are clearly bitter and quite irrational. I say this because I have read the bible many times and I know what is being said in it. I don't rely on some priest or preacher to relay the message to me and I know you dont understand it. As wise as you believe yourself to be.
@43alley agreed also once a friend of my tried to explain that the people were so evil that yaweh just had to try to limit damage but that doesnt make sense as he banned adultry amoung other things if you can ban someone from picking up sticks on the sabbath slavery really shouldnt have been a problem
@whitediver45 it doesn't just sound ridiculous...it is ridiculous! So is anyone who wants to base their lives around this bronze age rubbish in the 21st century! IDIOT!
@whitediver45 He is not "SATAN" its Beelzebub among many other names mentioned in the bible (Satan does not come up). And I am not his slave, in fact, he usually pays for the beers when we head to the pub!
@Killedkennyagain OOOH ! you are so smart. If not for you I would have never known that.LOL ! When you read the Tanakh in Hebrew let me know. Then you will learn that Shatan (Satan ) is in the bible. All you atheist do is try to superimpose your sad hopeless ideas on believers and are never mature enough to avoid calling people ugly names.
@whitediver45 When did I call you ugly names? Also, "shatan" in hebrew translates to: adversary or accuser in english. Now if you were to have called him Shatan, I would have had no problem with it. I was incidentally just at a lecture with Christophe Rico (Professeur Ordinaire at the École Biblique et Archéologique Française de Jérusalem and Professeur Invité at Hebrew University (Jerusalem)) discussing the problem of mistranslations and the importance of returning to the source literature.
@Killedkennyagain You and all your atheist friends are hatefull and beligerant. Its cool that you have been privledged enough to listen to those great scholars. I did my studying on my own. I understand the problem of mistranslating/understanding. The bible tells us to " studt to show thyself approved".And so I do.
@whitediver45 Please to not generalize and refrain from doing what I did not but was chastised by you for doing. Check out CompletelyLovely's channel, I don't think you could call her hateful or belligerent, and neither can you by the evidence of our discourse call me the same. I definitely respect educating ones self and learning in general. I think their is no higher virtue than the act of increasing ones knowledge and wish you well in your journey. Thank you for the debate.
@Killedkennyagain Understand atheist. I'm not debating you. You would have no chance in trying to convince me that this life an accident or we got here by chance. I am defending GOD and will always do so all my life with all my heart.
@whitediver45 This discourse was not about the existence of god or origins of life only the existence of the name 'Satan' in the bible to which I pointed out does not exist. You have every right to believe what ever you wish, I choose atheism, I'm not trying to push it on you. I just like to see accurate statements and claiming Beelzebub or Adversary or etc. is named satan in the bible is inaccurate. To tell you the truth I did a better job at defending the accuracy of 'gods word' then you!
@Killedkennyagain Yes, I think you did originally try to school me on the non existance of SATAN. But what you are really trying to do is make yourself feel like you are more intelligent by correcting me, a theist. Because you are an atheist and it is extremely important for you atheist to feel like you are smarter and wiser than any theist, whether it is true or not. Notice how all your remarks have to do with you needing to advise me how I need to learn something or how Im missing some info.
@Killedkennyagain and maybe you did start a" discourse" with me but I was in a "discourse " with someone else when you interjected your useless SATAN comment. Try to move on beyond simple grammatical errors. I may have more. Try to understand the message. You are saying my statement wasn't accurate. Well it was accurate enough to deliver the message I was conveying. Don't have time or space to explain every point on bible study here. You are not a defender of GOD in any way, but an adversary.
@Killedkennyagain what ? are you an English teacher ? It's so funny when I see someone correcting grammer to make themselves feel smart. You may as well have called me a ugly name ! LOL ! Grow up and step aside when the heavy hitters are playin ball kiddo !
If your intent is to continue discourse at such a reduced level then this is the last I will write in response. I hope your life is filled with good health and prosperity. Have an amazing day. Good luck on your educational pursuits.
@whitediver45 So, it cant just be because a bunch or people who might or might not believe in the same god as you OR a god at all, decided that owning another human being is wrong and fought to change that? BTW by different are you referring to your god ordering entire populations be wiped out all except the little girls who were virgins and used as sexual slaves for the victors?Rape victim being forced to marry her raper and he paying 50 coins to her father? Justice says ur god.
@whitediver45 oh, btw Atheists dont believe in something as silly as satan anymore than they do ur go..... We dont believe in ANY gods,, Atheists represent the LACK of belief in a god ,,,, now free ur little mind from those muddled thoughts and go play outside,, adults are talking
@carpnter2000 I have been in a few places where I without a doubt was in the presence of evil. I could feel it inside. I really dont know how else to explain it but bad things happened, terrible and I somehow sensed it before it happened. I only know that I will never forget that and I am thankfull that I do have our Heavenly Father to protect me from that evil.
@carpnter2000 To me, that is the most logical thing you have said so far. I can not fault another person for their own views and opinions. Whatever personal beliefs you hold true to yourself are right for you. What I and a lot of others find offensive is when we have people trying to shove their own personal beliefs in something that can not be proven, touched, smelt or witnessed, down someone elses throat as if it were undeniable.
@whitediver45 Why was slavery okay in the past and not now? Was it ever okay? Why does Yahweh's holy book's give explicit instruction on obtaining and holding slaves yet Christians now ignore this? Have they deemed it to be immoral and if so how were they able to make this decision with God telling them? After all, where would one possibly obtain morals if not from God? If you please, I would like an honest and well thought out answer rather than a response more befitting of a 5th grader.
@whitediver45 you devote your entire life to a religion, follow a ancient book without question, and were the ignorant ones? riiiiiiiiight...keep tellin yourself that.
@whitediver45 "If not for HOLY YAHWEH there would be NO mercy for slaves or freemen"- that'll be the sky fairy who set our rules for slaves not long before it started to be condemned by Socratic writers then?
Just incase ahmalala tries to delete his comment, he said....
////There are no slaves in the Bible, only servants or bondservants, these are more correct translations. Plus they where provided for well, even allowed to Marry, they had Rights as well. They where not horribly abused like we think in our more modern ideas of modern slavery./////
I'm not at all religious, and I'm certainly not defending slavery, but those rules, for the time and place they were written, were pretty progressive. Those slaves had it a lot better than a slave in the 16th or 17th century did.
@xconvuXlsionsx Me neither (religious). The rules were not much progressive in its time, and what does it matter if they were when people believed for over 2000 years that it was unchangeable because a "god" had said so? Progressiveness is a relative state, and the statements in the Bible can not justly be called progressive at all since they are supposed to be unchangeable. Progressiveness favors progress, and this is stagnation at its best.
@tempemonkey Good luck. It does not work that way. New religions pop up every year, and so religion adapts and changes with us. You should learn to get along with people who holds a different set of ideas than you. Its part of being a late/post-modern human
@DimmDevil Let me rephrase this, you postmodern/social constructivist moron....... Lets destroy a meme that tells people to follow a book and the book promotes slavery, genocide, infanticide, incest, stoning, subordination of women etc.... Oh yeah, it also gives people false ideas about human nature (radical free will) and morality (no one deserve to be tortured forever).... While your post modernist bullshit might suggest these things are ok within a given culture.... I say shove it up your ass
@tempemonkey I do agree that we cannot get rid of religion, but we can help people reject the obviously bad ones.... I really think that we are headed toward a kind of Hellenism where xianity looses its dogmatic power over people and people in turn become free to interpret religions in ways that are beneficial to them and mankind.... Slavishly following an old book and being constantly watched by an institution lest you fall out of the rules..... This is bad. Lets end this.
@tempemonkey "Lets all do our part in destroying the religion meme....."I do agree that we cannot get rid of religion, " Both quotes from you. I think we agree on most here. My point was merely that Religion cannot be destroyed. Bad religious memes are another thing. But still it is a very hard job, and you dont get far by telling the believer that you want to destroy religion as a category. I understand now that you moderated that statement.
@tempemonkey Your understanding of late modern /post-modern as a theoretical paradigm in the west is not quite right. I think you are referring to relativism and that is only a part of postmodernity, often if not always moderated by rationalism. I am not a moron but I understand why you think so. Let me just say in my defense that I am not a posterboy for those terms i referred to. I mealy use them when appropriate, as they are concerning The West (Where xtianity was and is held, hence this video
@DimmDevil I realize that my posts may not have been that clear the first time. As both of us can see, its hard to argue a point on Youtue in the comments section because everything is condensed and fragmented. The postmodernism that I have studied does not seem very cool.... to say the least.... I apologize if I did not understand your position and lashed out at you... I just got irritated because I thought you were saying that there is no right or wrong AT ALL... Its crazy to say that.
@Ben85paintball Doesn't EX 21:16 refer to taking a slave from another slave owner, not binding a new slave?
OK, so Hewbrews could become slaves due to debt. How does that make taking foreign nation's peoples as slaves?
EP 6:9 just seems to me to be further proof of inconsistencies in the bible. It seems to suggest that people taken as slaves after having thier land stolen and male relatives killed off should then be nice to their new 'owners.' Ridiculous.
Out of context. OUT OF CONTEXT!! That's what I hear most often. Under what context would these rules be okay? I don't get much of an answer after that.
@biggingeryeti Under the context of the bible asserters of course :) Critisism is often countered with the weak argument of a missing context. But the bible (and all other "holy scriptures") do not have any context. They are written by a lot of different authors over a long period of time. They have randomly inserted new phrases to serve an emperor or a specifical political purpose. Thats why those scriptures are the manifestation of imbecility.
Hmm, next time someone quotes Genesis i'll be like "But that's the old testament!" and then begin a fit about how your only suppose to cherry pick the sugar coated parts of the OT.
"oooh thats the old testament line" can be easily refuted with timothy 3:16 and Matt 5:18 i hate it when that liner is used ... it was hilarious was William lane Craig used it
That was a devastating read. I never knew that kind of vile shit was contained in there. It just proves that it is a through back. It had its time, it served its purpose, need I say more?
I think that the Bible has been scamed by stupit people that whant to use the power of the source. Simple propaganda it always works. Best God is my consciousness. My mind and my heart. The rest is a big scam!

The exegeses and development of religious canon is very interesting and (to the dedicated cynic, at least) explains a lot of editorial decisions.
You also hear, "Less horrible than the alternative, so really it's very progressive and kind" responses regarding the directives of any religion that developed in tandem or as the strict sponsor of a state.

it doesn't matter how ridiculous it may sound.

As wise as you believe yourself to be.
whitediver45 11 months ago
@43alley agreed also once a friend of my tried to explain that the people were so evil that yaweh just had to try to limit damage but that doesnt make sense as he banned adultry amoung other things if you can ban someone from picking up sticks on the sabbath slavery really shouldnt have been a problem

@whitediver45 He is not "SATAN" its Beelzebub among many other names mentioned in the bible (Satan does not come up). And I am not his slave, in fact, he usually pays for the beers when we head to the pub!
Killedkennyagain 11 months ago
@Killedkennyagain OOOH ! you are so smart. If not for you I would have never known that.LOL ! When you read the Tanakh in Hebrew let me know. Then you will learn that Shatan (Satan ) is in the bible. All you atheist do is try to superimpose your sad hopeless ideas on believers and are never mature enough to avoid calling people ugly names.
whitediver45 11 months ago
@whitediver45 When did I call you ugly names? Also, "shatan" in hebrew translates to: adversary or accuser in english. Now if you were to have called him Shatan, I would have had no problem with it. I was incidentally just at a lecture with Christophe Rico (Professeur Ordinaire at the École Biblique et Archéologique Française de Jérusalem and Professeur Invité at Hebrew University (Jerusalem)) discussing the problem of mistranslations and the importance of returning to the source literature.
Killedkennyagain 11 months ago
@Killedkennyagain You and all your atheist friends are hatefull and beligerant. Its cool that you have been privledged enough to listen to those great scholars. I did my studying on my own. I understand the problem of mistranslating/understanding. The bible tells us to " studt to show thyself approved".And so I do.
whitediver45 11 months ago
@whitediver45 Please to not generalize and refrain from doing what I did not but was chastised by you for doing. Check out CompletelyLovely's channel, I don't think you could call her hateful or belligerent, and neither can you by the evidence of our discourse call me the same. I definitely respect educating ones self and learning in general. I think their is no higher virtue than the act of increasing ones knowledge and wish you well in your journey. Thank you for the debate.
Killedkennyagain 11 months ago
@Killedkennyagain Understand atheist. I'm not debating you. You would have no chance in trying to convince me that this life an accident or we got here by chance. I am defending GOD and will always do so all my life with all my heart.
whitediver45 11 months ago
@whitediver45 This discourse was not about the existence of god or origins of life only the existence of the name 'Satan' in the bible to which I pointed out does not exist. You have every right to believe what ever you wish, I choose atheism, I'm not trying to push it on you. I just like to see accurate statements and claiming Beelzebub or Adversary or etc. is named satan in the bible is inaccurate. To tell you the truth I did a better job at defending the accuracy of 'gods word' then you!
Killedkennyagain 11 months ago
@Killedkennyagain Yes, I think you did originally try to school me on the non existance of SATAN. But what you are really trying to do is make yourself feel like you are more intelligent by correcting me, a theist. Because you are an atheist and it is extremely important for you atheist to feel like you are smarter and wiser than any theist, whether it is true or not. Notice how all your remarks have to do with you needing to advise me how I need to learn something or how Im missing some info.
whitediver45 11 months ago
@Killedkennyagain and maybe you did start a" discourse" with me but I was in a "discourse " with someone else when you interjected your useless SATAN comment. Try to move on beyond simple grammatical errors. I may have more. Try to understand the message. You are saying my statement wasn't accurate. Well it was accurate enough to deliver the message I was conveying. Don't have time or space to explain every point on bible study here. You are not a defender of GOD in any way, but an adversary.
whitediver45 11 months ago

@carpnter2000 I have been in a few places where I without a doubt was in the presence of evil. I could feel it inside. I only know that I will never forget that and I am thankfull that I do have our Heavenly Father to protect me from that evil.
whitediver45 11 months ago

I'm not at all religious, and I'm certainly not defending slavery, but those rules, for the time and place they were written, were pretty progressive. Those slaves had it a lot better than a slave in the 16th or 17th century did.
xconvuXlsionsx 1 year ago
@xconvuXlsionsx Yes and that understandable for a book written by man but remember that the Bible is claimed to be the work of God.
guidi2005 1 year ago
@xconvuXlsionsx Only the Hebrew slaves. The rest were out of luck.
burchdc 1 year ago
@xconvuXlsionsx Me neither (religious). The rules were not much progressive in its time, and what does it matter if they were when people believed for over 2000 years that it was unchangeable because a "god" had said so? Progressiveness is a relative state, and the statements in the Bible can not justly be called progressive at all since they are supposed to be unchangeable. Progressiveness favors progress, and this is stagnation at its best.

Everybody, put this video on your facebook page.... Lets all do our part in destroying the religion meme.....
tempemonkey 1 year ago
@tempemonkey Good luck. It does not work that way. New religions pop up every year, and so religion adapts and changes with us. You should learn to get along with people who holds a different set of ideas than you. Its part of being a late/post-modern human
DimmDevil 1 year ago
@DimmDevil Let me rephrase this, you postmodern/social constructivist moron....... Lets destroy a meme that tells people to follow a book and the book promotes slavery, genocide, infanticide, incest, stoning, subordination of women etc.... Oh yeah, it also gives people false ideas about human nature (radical free will) and morality (no one deserve to be tortured forever).... While your post modernist bullshit might suggest these things are ok within a given culture.... I say shove it up your ass
tempemonkey 1 year ago
@tempemonkey I do agree that we cannot get rid of religion, but we can help people reject the obviously bad ones.... I really think that we are headed toward a kind of Hellenism where xianity looses its dogmatic power over people and people in turn become free to interpret religions in ways that are beneficial to them and mankind.... Slavishly following an old book and being constantly watched by an institution lest you fall out of the rules..... This is bad. Lets end this.
tempemonkey 1 year ago
@tempemonkey "Lets all do our part in destroying the religion meme....."I do agree that we cannot get rid of religion, " Both quotes from you. I think we agree on most here. My point was merely that Religion cannot be destroyed. Bad religious memes are another thing. But still it is a very hard job, and you dont get far by telling the believer that you want to destroy religion as a category. I understand now that you moderated that statement.
DimmDevil 1 year ago
@tempemonkey Your understanding of late modern /post-modern as a theoretical paradigm in the west is not quite right. I think you are referring to relativism and that is only a part of postmodernity, often if not always moderated by rationalism. I am not a moron but I understand why you think so. Let me just say in my defense that I am not a posterboy for those terms i referred to. I mealy use them when appropriate, as they are concerning The West (Where xtianity was and is held, hence this video
DimmDevil 1 year ago
@DimmDevil I realize that my posts may not have been that clear the first time. As both of us can see, its hard to argue a point on Youtue in the comments section because everything is condensed and fragmented. The postmodernism that I have studied does not seem very cool.... to say the least.... I apologize if I did not understand your position and lashed out at you... I just got irritated because I thought you were saying that there is no right or wrong AT ALL... Its crazy to say that.

@Ben85paintball "Slavery based on kidnapping and racism was never envisioned as appropriate in the Bible"
SO, attacking a city, killing all the men and taking the women and children isn't kidnapping?
"Also he said Hebrews became slaves because due to an inability to pay their debts."
So you owe the credit card company money, does that give them rights to poke your eyeballs, knock out your teeth, and own your children?
If those are "good points" then religion really does brainwash people.
supra297 1 year ago
@Ben85paintball Doesn't EX 21:16 refer to taking a slave from another slave owner, not binding a new slave?
OK, so Hewbrews could become slaves due to debt. How does that make taking foreign nation's peoples as slaves?
EP 6:9 just seems to me to be further proof of inconsistencies in the bible. It seems to suggest that people taken as slaves after having thier land stolen and male relatives killed off should then be nice to their new 'owners.' Ridiculous.
