I've been living in Japan for over 2 years and don't think 80% of Japanese have double eyelids, but I also wouldn't say mono eyelids are predominant. There's all kinds of tricks: eyelid tape, huge false eyelashes, and contact lenses that create bigger pupils and iris. The effect is really pretty but dudes call it "魔法" (magic/ witchcraft) when they wake up in the morning next to a girl who looks totally different than the girl they invited home.

I don't see why people are flamming. If they want double eyelids temporarily, then so be it. Honestly its not as bad as those who actually do plastic surgery for permanent double eyelids and bigger eyes. I think the glue is more convenient when it comes to getting the look you want without surgically altering your body. But honestly this eyelid glue thing can't be done everyday or else the eyelid does become saggy.
