  • i see that is "fake" in ASL in 1:07 idk you say that

  • is it just me or does swedish sign language seem similar to asl? or is it the english overlay influencing how i interpret it?

  • @SingSumKun

no it is just swedish sign language :)

  • Amazing.

    Absolutely amazing.

This should have been the music video for this song.

    Really.

    Amazing job, Im pleased.

  • I don't understand what it's about. I know what the song is about, but what does the video mean?

  • @IN73RJ3c7I0N

if you know what cochlear implantat is so you can understand it

  • if you know what cochlear implantat is so you can understand it

  • Applaus, very nice with Sound "Zombie"!

  • Love this video. Don't know Swedish sign, but it's close enough to ASL that I could understand this. Powerful and well said! Cochlear implants are barbaric.

  • i've never thought of the song in that context before...wow... deafness is definalty not a disease nor does it need a cure! Its all in peoples heads!...I like how this video expresses that...

  • Deaf Culture FTW

  • Comment removed

  • i have a cochlear implant and yeah i love it.. but i do agree that they shouldn't give a baby a surgary at that young age, they should wait til it like 2 yrs old or so..

i got mine at 11 years old and now im 17. I hear very well, speak very well and loving every moment of it...

  • I do not belive in cochlear inplant for a small child to do that. I like the way she feel about the coachlear implant.

  • The technology is not there. My uncle had a cochlear implant a few years back and he hates it. I believe if the child has a certain amount of hearing, then yes, cochlear implants can be considered. However, if the money was spent towards proficient interpreters, then the need would not be there for the implant. Evaluation and testing should be pressured on interpreters, not the deaf child.

  • Holy cow... I never actually listened to the words until you signed them. I had no idea what this song was about...

  • If "the man" is out to eradicate the deaf community, why is ASL the third most spoken language in the US after English and Spanish and in some colleges is accepted toward a second language. Hmm, "the man" isn't doing all that great of a job. I'm learning ASL to add another "speaker" to the deaf community. I am also going to learn more about CI to understand the controversy, but I see it as a tool to help, not hinder. God be with you. Exellent video

; a discussion starter and beautiful art.

  • CI's are presented by the medical community as a CURE to Deafness, they think that not being able to hear is a bad thing and that all people should hear. Infants and yonge children are often implanted and never know that they were deaf before, never learn ASL and never embrace the culture they were born into. you should really do some research if your considering entering this community.

  • I'm sorry, but the inability to hear IS a bad thing. To say otherwise defies reason. That does not make somebody who can't hear less of a person, but saying that inability to hear is not a bad thing is political correctness to the point of the absurd.

  • I understand how giving a deaf baby cochlear implants may feel like losing her/him to the hearing world, but it isn't. It's giving that child a bigger world. I'm learning sign ASL, but don't know enough to really comunicate & I was talking with a deaf woman who can lip read. She asked me a question and I couldn't puzzle out what the question was. Her hearing son helped as a translator for us and I was able to give her the info she needed. The ablilty to hear isn't a curse. just another tool.

  • i luv this video! i kno cochlear implants is a big deal and this is so powerful. im not deaf, but my daughter is and i was considering to get her a implant, but now i dont think i am

  • what i like most abot this video is that it is in black and white which makes it more emotional and powerful

  • What can I say? WOW.

  • omg that one of my favorite

    songs !!

    excelent job love it =)

  • Very touching !

Would like to see more of that !

    :D

  • Please make more!!!

I luved this one and Hero!!

i enjoy watching your signing as well as the theatrical spin you put on the music video... feel like I am watching MTV music videos for the Deaf!

  • Den er skid god!

  • excellent music video! :)

  • omg this is the weirdest thing ever- I was just looking all over the internet to find this song because I heard it on the radio today and didn't know what it was. I found it like a half hour ago, then after that I decided to look up sign language on youtube. then I found this. HOW WEIRD??

  • make more

  • i have grew up with a deaf family all my life and i have to say this veido is awsome.

  • i luved ur vidoes!!! they r awsome!! please please please make more..!!!

  • ridiculous....it pure art...simple and with passion!

  • I've been a part of the Deaf community for about 15 years now. I've seen a lot of various opinions on the whole CI choice. Since I am not Deaf, I prefer to leave the opinions and the choice to the individuals that it actually affects. I've seen several other videos or movie shorts that are pro-CI. It is refreshing to see artistic expression of this side of the fence on the issue.

  • complimenti continua fai cosi con musica ke mi piace barvo auguri

  • I am an ASL 3 student and I just watched both your videos. I love them, They should start making more of them here too! I hope you keep it up!

  • Superbra videos, gillar även Hero-videon!

  • I am an American Sign. lev 2 student, It was neat to watch this vid and see how the signs are different.

  • I use American Sign Language and am always on the look-out for impressive sign videos from around the world. I really enjoy your artistic creativity and your visual expression. I'm looking forward to watching your next work!

  • Very powerful and pretty, eventhough I do not understand Swedish SL (only Dutch SL) I got your message very clearly :)

(I've known this song for ages and I think you really gave it your own twist and meaning!)

  • i love it so much.... great!

  • i'll leave such cannibalism to you. but thank you for letting everyone know how blissfully ignorant you are. i'm sure the last thing the artist of this video wanted was for people to trade insults back and forth, and lucky for us we now know that is all you can do. if you cannot argue your side in a civil manner, don't bother posting. and i'm not deaf.

  • Fuck off inukill, u dont' know what u r talkin about. Deaf ppl can be in music video if they want to, it takes alot of training! Also they may have the texts behind the cameras so that they can see the words. Deaf ppl can do anything but hearing, u dumb dipshit!

  • i agree. besides, if inukill knew anything about deaf culture he would realize that this video is extremely artistic and touches on a very controversial topic in the deaf community: cochlear implants. for all those wondering, she isn't translating the song, she's applying its metaphorical meaning to her life and her experiences.

  • This is a wonderful video I love it so much

  • wow, very good video. I can understand a lot, similar to ASL!

  • do you happen to know what lyrics are? thats right... you can look up the word to songs online. and i hope you aren't up your own ass too much to know that deaf people can read... though from your comment i wouldn't doubt any level of stupidity for you.

  • Wonderful!

  • what's the point?

  • The point is that Deaf people do not want to be cintrolled by hearing people. Cochlear implants are not a fix for Deaf people.

  • they are not a fix like drugs, they are a fix for a new life

  • Thanks for proving how retarded hearing people can be. And like I said before... Deaf people do not want to be fixed with medical instruments, we are fine the way we are. We can like communicate and everything. Imagine that!

  • I think of cochlear implants as more of an option than a fix. Like a hearing person might take the option to learn sign language out of curiosity and in the spirit of learning something new, someone who's deaf might want that same option.

  • Um, I'm Deaf and I have cochlear Implant, Sure, it might be against everything, But I'm still in my deaf world and I could hear to function because I want to be in hearing world too, I'm in 2 worlds and I can communicate with hearing and deaf people! SO yea!

  • The message is C L E A R ! No need to understand Swedish Sign Language, it carries the same message resonating around the world! CI is NOT a working tool and it is the audism that abuses it. Calling those with CI Zombies is the right answer! It is very sad how parents as well as audists (teachers, counselors, doctors, audiologists and the like) are fucking up our deaf lives!

  • That is a great music video. Wow, Swedish Sign Language is close to American Sign Language. It has a similar grammar structure and even a couple of the signs were the same.

  • Any chance you could remix this video and add captions in English?

  • Wow! that's a lot differnt than BSL and ASL ... I'm clueless of she is signing there. Beautiful tho.

  • Bravo

  • your videos aregreat and you should try sending them to d-pan.

  • Greet video! I'm as a hearing person working with deaf people very much impressed about the way you're bringing CI to everyones attention!

  • Looks like you put a lot of work into the video. Cool. I wish I knew ALL sign language perfectly. I know ASL, but I want to know what EVERYTHING means. haha. Pretty nice vid. :)

  • No Offense Everyone but I am starting to realize that this video is calling people with CI a zombie because its not THEM its someone else who is a wannabe My family are all anti CI sorry but I started to call everyone with CI a ZOMBIE because they are not real deaf now they are just hearing and have more hearing friends than deaf people u hear what iu am tryin to say?? ONCE AGAIN No Offense EveRYONE - MY NAME IS BENJAMIN HOUSTON AND I AM AN ANTI CI TYPE OF PERSON!

  • i think it's very impressive... I know American Sign Language, not Swedish, but I still got the general idea of the video. I like how you adapted the song to show your views of cochlear implants. Nice job!

  • I really love this music video but I must say, this isn't what the song is about. It's about WWII and the mental affects. But overall it's good.

  • WW2? I'm pretty sure it's about the Northern Ireland conflict. Imagine living in a country with a civil war going on for about 70 years.

  • Nice movie, great! See this CI Video w w w . youtube . com/watch?v=beKYEPfxhTY

    Thanks!

  • SO COOL!!!!

  • i love this video....

  • me too :)

  • this video is awesome talks about cochlear implants telling parents not to worry, feel greift to change deaf child with cochlear implant, im deaf with cochlear implant myself.

  • beautiful song, if not one of my favorites. I liked the video visually, even though I am not familiar with swedish sign language. the body language was enough to convey the message clearly. my brain's not working properly at the moment, so I can't see the connection here on the abstract with cochlear implants (cochlea implantat), despite my knowledge of the general underlying issue. I think the girl signing it is pretty cute, thats all I can say :)

  • The song speaks of war and hate. Which all centers in the mind. The Woman doing Sign Langauge is great with body langauge and I love the song that much more now.

  • This Is Amazing! I Love It!!!

  • what an increadible rendition of the song. I particularily enjoyed the combination of both literal and symbolic translations

  • love the song

  • Wow this was way to cool

  • cool very real

  • That's fantastic! Very well done!

  • im Hard of hearing and i cant belive this it rocks

  • me too

  • shit va duktig du är! och videon blev så mycket mer färgstark med teckenspråkey ^^

  • i love it i love it i love it do it alot and you won't fail p;ush on

  • Hej! om alla se det men kräver engelska text så de kan förstår vad du prata om.

  • Syftet är inte att de ska förstå texten utan själva innehållet och budskapet

  • engelska är ett tråkigt språk

  • OMG i love this video i watch it at least once a day....its amazing!!! you did a great job

  • thanks :)

  • What are you trying to sign? I don't understand your song. I understand the visual, but your signing... eh.

  • its in sweedish not asl...thats why it doesn't fully make since

  • I work with students who are Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing and I try to tell parents that their child can have a wonderful, fulfilling life full of happiness and love, whether they speak or sign. But many parents see the cochlear implant as the answer - their child gets one, their child will speak! Clearly! It's a difficult situation. I really liked this video - gave an opinion without being preachy. Well done!

  • exellent video,very well edited

  • i love this one! its a widespread diesase- implants.

  • The signer is a Deaf Swede, my friend went to school with her. If you look at the lyrics of the song, you see she interprets them in Swedish SL with some liberty with the words like "violence... tanks... guns..." where she interprets as CI SURGERY.

See how she interprets "zombie"? As one between worlds, like a zombie... or a Borg (as CI "victims" are called sometimes).

  • I love this video. I think that it is an amazing way to portray the struggles of deafness.

  • bext25, I think you missed the point, this is NOT about any "struggles of deafness" (whatever that means) but about the agenda of the medical establishment to eradicate Deaf people.

  • Is it not a struggle for the Deaf community that many hearing people are being led by medical establishments and educators to eradicate Deaf people by implanting them with cochleas?

  • Even people in Deaf communities are being led to implant themselves and their children with cochleas. So, when I said "struggles of deafness" I was thinking about the world of signing and the pride in being deaf.

  • OK I see what you mean, bext. It was the word "deafness" that puzzled me, as most people use that to mean "not being able to hear". You are right that CI is a great challenge to what now is called "Deafhood". Thanks for your clarification.

  • Ah, thank you. "Deafhood" is word I have not become too framiliar with yet.

  • This song sound really beautiful, however; I wish I could understand her Swedish sign language. She looks more beautiful and opporunities to become a deaf singer and she can sing about having a deaf infant to deal with cochlear implant. I think I agree with her about not having infant to have it on til old enough.

  • Really beautiful and sad video, it says a lot about how (some?) deaf people feel about Cochlear implants. Beautifully done.

Can anybody tell me what the signs at around

1:18 and 1:35 (when the song says "in your head") and

1:40-1:44 (when the song says "zombie") means?

  • I'm a hearing impaired woman from Il, USA and i'd say the signs as... baby, carry, cochlear implant, shh, none, sweet , you fake, you, see, me, not much, head, army force, surgery, C.I., heart wrenching, confused, zombie, what confusing, zombie, frustrating, breaking heart, action stop, shh none, mistake truly stupid, army same past destroy work, you dismissed army, surgery cochlear implant, head false, we wipeout, confused mind, zombie, what head confused zombie..

  • Or in simpler terms..hand the baby over, c.i won't shh us, ur false, u don't see much of me & situation ur head. (i'm assuming this talks about the hearing world >) army force c.i., it's heartwrenching confusing thoughts u have, zombie what's confusing u zombie?,frustrating heartbreaking action needs stop, u shh no one, ur truly mistaken, u took over past & destroy us, u "dismissed" words about surgery you're false. we wiped out all confusion about C.I, zombie what's in ur confused head?

  • Also... this song is done by the CRANBERRIES and the song title is of course... ZOMBIE.

  • Here in Cincinnati CI is done with a bent V handshape tho not bent 5. Whatever, same meaning.

  • In my opinion this vid depicts what deaf children of hearing adults experience a lot... Doctors want to place Cochlear implants in the cochlea of our young children and there are a LOT of controversies over it. (risk of diseases and death, and whether or not they actually have any benefit)

  • Nice one, I managed to understand a bit, I only got a bit British sign language experience.

  • Love every minutes of it!!!! Very touching!!!

  • beautiful expression of pain in sign language.

  • WOW!

  • i think mom want cochlea implant for deaf baby- but too expensive. so she plead with dr. but cant.

  • Ah! I used to listen to this song when I was 10 *good memories* :)

  • great video. i watch it often now. i want to show my sign language students. you need to know that even though signs may look the same in a different country they may have a different meaning. i did recognize the sign for cochlear implant. in American sign language the sign for interview means interpreter in Mexican sign language. I would like to see a translation of the signs she is using so i know for sure.

  • Awesome video. It really is amazing how alot of the Signs are similiar to ASL in America. especially the sign for cochlear impant. Great song and a really acurrate portrayal of what Deaf around the world are forced to endure by those who "know better" and "act in their best interst". Who is the girl in the video? Just curious if she's Deaf from Switzerland or a hearing signer.

  • The other day i decided to watch them and i actually learn some swedish thx lol!! But today, i only saw up to the girl on the bed!! anyone think they know whats wrong please leave the reasons on this comment or mail me by youtube mail

  • excellent video!! =)

  • tip top!!!

  • Wow wonderful video there! Truly astonishing work and quite moving.

  • OIC - I thought it was ASL at first and didn't understand - then I got it - Italian? Wonderfully piongnant!

  • Yeah it's a excellent video! Beautifully made. Smile. Congrats!

  • guud jobba!

  • Excellent Work!!!

  • thanks :)
