  • Nice work. With the recent death of Whitney Houston, an open beat, like this, inspires many lyrics. The primary theme that was coming from everyone was "Unbelievable."

  • nice...what are thos controllers called on the desk

  • @SWITCHSTRUMENTALS They are 1 Mackie Universal controls and 3 extenders.

  • if you make grime and stuff im gnna recromend you to Labrnith

  • good stuff! i just got pro tools 10 and a mbox mini. i just plugged in my xp-50 keyboard

so i can also record hardware sounds, but when i record the sounds,it also records

my voice if i cough or talk and it records my tv,etc. why is my interface doing that??? do

i have to set something in my mac? thanx. and how do i listen to my playbacks

on my mbox with headphones, instead of listening it on my computer???? help!

  • hey how to install pro tools

  • what are controling pro tools with?

  • just goes to show that adding reall instruments into a beat always sound better

  • The funny part is a person like Celine Dion or Mary J could take this track, write lyrics and move a million copies before any of the 26 disliking haters could even begin to do what williamriveramusic has done here. A hit has nothing to do with complexity. It's about the emotion a song invokes. Keep it up brotha William and you might mess around and get yourself a Grammy or two.

  • i like this song,,its hot n lots of feeling too

  • good man yourself. As a newbie to recording i get frustrated at the continuous amount of videos that claim to be "making a beat when it involves mix, mastering etc etc. I enjoyed the video despite the foolish remark by thar.... whatever

  • So jealous of your set up. What kinda control board are you rockin?

  • Oje mi pana, Two thumbs up, You got skills brother.

  • i found? some crazy kits with bangin 808s at stupiddrumkits. com

  • very nice, greetz from germany !

  • nice, it would be cool if you made a tut on how you went about mixing and mastering this beat

  • nice work

  • I wish i could have those instruments and studio like you :) im in love with music :(

  • that's midi controller is scary! It's like 122 keys!!!!!!

  • I can't find this Beat on your Homepage. Would you please so friendly and send me the Link of the Beat or the Beat?

  • this is like something id make to teach a bunch of 6th graders how to use reason

  • Ok I'm a singer, songwriter, music producer...& I must say you have talent! Forget the haters their just jealous... any way add some lyric and post it...I'd like to hear what it sounds like with lyrics... Nice! Play your own instruments, not many people can do that so keep it up!

  • nice beat, i enjoy it

  • Nice Video! :-]

  • Nice! Any real producer will let u know that it may seem simple but to get it on point and mix in the right instrument for the rhythm with the variety of instruments out there is a bit more complicated! Literally got to play it by ear no matter what software you have! Anyways good stuff man and ignore negative feedback!

  • Uh Oh...Go head Rivera... Oh Oh Oh, am I on? Turn my mic up...lol :) ALL 10 STARS BRO

  • I swear, hopefully one day, mother nature will create an "ASSHOLE" virus that destroys the jealous, egotistical SCUMBAGS off of this planet. You made a solid track Will, sounded good. Nice equipment.

  • hey man u r really good at makin beats this is sick

  • Hey check out my R&B beat I use Logic Pro

  • i am glad i made you laugh!! ;-) but the title of the video made me think this was going to be a tutorial. anyways... keep wokring ;-)

  • ooh my god!!! this is the hardest thing I've ever saw in my life!! how did you do it??? and the video should not be named "Making a Beat in Pro Tools". It should be named "Making a Beat ( with the 3 most common chords on earth which everyone can play including my grandmother and the most classic, easy made sounds and beats in the world)". what exactly did you show us about Pro Tools???

  • @Tharladyn7 HAHA this one actually made laugh. My good Sir. I'm not claiming that this track is the best of anything. I am just having some fun with musical instruments. This is also not a Tutorial. =: ^ 0

  • @williamriveramusic

That's the way to 'take' these type of comments :)

And indeed, you never stated that this would be a complex piece of work. Even the title reveals that it's just about 'making a beat'.

Nice keysboard btw. Is that the M-Audio Keystation 88 PRO? Sure looks like it. And what version of ProTools you use?

    Thanks.

  • @megalodonNL That is the M-Audio 88 Pro, I boought it about 6 years ago and it's still performing like brand new.

    Thanks

  • @Tharladyn7 He is showing how easy it is to make music with Pro Tools and the sounds that come with it :)

  • @Tharladyn7 bitchez talk , people work !

  • Awsome, very chill..

  • Nice

  • Great Relaxing Music !!! :D Keep The Good Work Bro :)

  • what hardware mixer and extensions are you using?

  • I loved it!

  • Wow, too many assholes to count commenting on this video. I found your video very inspiring, William. Keep up the great work. You obviously love what you do. All the best. -Matt

  • either your a midget, or thats one bigass keyboard

  • man...you got this drums set behind you....fuckin' use it

  • @TheMrPrimal I am totally a fan of real drums. but in all fairness, this tutorial is about creating an R&B beat in Pro Tools. I do remember the days when R&B meant Rhythm and Blues. Now the term is transplanted into todays Urban Pop. Still, I find it good practice to make a quantized MIDI beat first and play live instruments tightly to that solid rhythm, then track real drums last, replacing the MIDI drums. This makes things very tight yet natural.Scratch tracks are often too sloppy to work with.

  • id throw in some flanger!

  • you look like mike shinoda....

  • Yes could you please make a video about what "retsamuv" said .

  • @LilPaez Use midi merge in Pro Tools. Find it in the transport window.

  • @LilPaez Dont forget to select (8 bars in this case) in the timeline and select "Loop Record". (I think its in the transport windo but I forget because I am used to the C24)

  • @LilPaez Oops! I replied to he wrong person. Sorry.

  • can i use ur music for recording ?

  • @aahmed47 Yes you can. The link for all services is in the description of the video.

  • @williamriveramusic plz send me the official one

  • Classic well done....very simple and amazing

  • How do you record your tracks for 8 bars and then have them loop automatically as you did in this video?

  • @retstamuv There is an option in Pro Tools called midi merge. It will allow you to record on top of your previous pass. Its located in the transport window.

  • @williamriveramusic Thank you! I have tried it and i worked for me.

  • @retstamuv it..sorry

  • @retstamuv See my reply to LilPaez above which I accidentally addressed to the wrong person. I just wanted to add, in addition to selecting the Midi Merge option, also select 8 bars in the timeline then select Loop Record. Have fun.

  • Where could I download this Beat ?

  • Nice hermano!! you should make a tutorial on how to Mix a whole song! :) am working with pro tools as well

  • WOWW VERY RELAXINGG :D

  • @insanebeatss There are no rules on what kind of chords will make an specific genre. It's more of a combinations of different elements like the sounds you use, measure, tempo, scales and more. Sorry if this confuses you a little more but I think that's the way to look at it.

  • @EpicSodas Haha I know....I guess it just came out like that.

  • what is the name of the guitar you are useing

  • @beatmakerwill It's an Ovation electric-acoustic

  • This is pure talent. You definitely have been blessed with a gift. Please don't let peoples ignorance discourage you. @ andrrioox, before you have the right to say anything else, do your research on the man you're trying to needlessly cut, and please activate spell check on your computer. You obviously paid very little attention in your education as well.

  • @Hudson0524 Thanks !

  • What Pad Controller is that?

  • wat DAW mixer controller you using

  • @clipbrowser Pro Tools 8

  • @clipbrowser looks like a mackie mcu pro with 3 extenders

  • wat keyboard is that man

  • @clipbrowser M-Audio 88 pro keys. I don't think they make it anymore.

  • @williamriveramusic its a great keyboard

  • greeeaaaaattttttt stuffff

  • sing to the left to the left,,

  • I love this track, it's soulful like the ones I make. I asked myself at first, was it wise to put your drums all on the same track, but they all sounded leveled in the final playback. How did you do that? I just started using pro tools 8.... I know nothing about it yet.

  • tight wouldnt mind working with you hit me 9545298682

  • hola como puedo entrar en contacto con tigo para k me hagas un beat hot rnb y cuanto me cuesta

  • @frakton88 Visit our website. The link is in the description.

  • Beautiful mixing William! the panned delay on that clap is to nasty!!! nice work

  • wow andrioox you spent all that time leavin that insulting ass message trying to imply you know wusup with music, and then got strait hushed and put in check lol bet you feel dumb...from someone who produces as well, simplictiy is often all it takes for a track to be hot...and this track is fire! and i produce hip hop type beats so if anyone should have something bad to say about it, it would be me...by the way, its "weak" not "week"(beginners level spelling mistake!) dont be a sad little hater

  • What kind of mixer is that and how much did you get it for?

    nice beat by the way

  • I love your setup!!!

And I love that you play real instruments. I'm a musician (bass guitarist) who had to learn digital automation of music. I've always felt real feeling should be played through an instrument.. Keep up the great work!!

  • イカしたオッサンだなぁw

  • Nice work :) Pro Tools noob question: How do you set PT to continue playing what you just recorded and record the other instruments on different tracks? I ask this because you layered your snare on top of the hi-hat pattern but didn't touch anything to create a new track for the snare. Any help is welcome! Thanks :)

  • @Batecas The drums where all in one track. You have to enable loop play and midi merge so that don't erase notes. By pressing record you will obviously record your performance, but if you press record again the playback will continue and you can practice your next move. Once I am done recording, I split the drums to individual tracks in order to have complete control when mixing.

  • by the way, with what connection did you connect your keyboard to your computer? becuz i have the ESI KeyControl 49XT and it works with usb. whenever i record a track on it, it doesn't immediatly record, so it has a little bit of delay.. any ideas? my PC is still quite new(half-a-year old) thanks already

  • @A3BeatsProductions This is a USB keyboard. I for some reason you hear delay, go to PLAYBACK ENGINE in the SETUP menu and change the BUFFER size to a lower number like 256. Later when you are finished tracking and you are ready to mix change it again to the highest number like 1024. AHHH by the way I am assuming you have Pro Tools. Right? ; )

  • @williamriveramusic Nope, i have got FL Studio, but what you just said is possible with a driver called Asio4ALL, so thats not a problem. i appreciate your help!

  • @williamriveramusic oh, before i forget, with 'a lower number like 256' i guess you mean: 'A lower number like 256 Samples'?

  • I hear what I hear and its low skilled stuff. :)

  • @andrioox if you ever produced a track you'll know how the most important skill is quality...NOT quantity!! the man has used both digitial/analogue instruments & real instruments!

i dont know why you would make such an arrogant remark.....anyone can make a beat, but unless you know what goes into a track pre-mastered, you'll never understand a damn thing about producing a track and allow others to work day & night for many months just so you can take your ipod song collection for granted!!

  • @andrioox I think you need to do a little more research on someone before you call their skills useless. I have produced from simple techno loops to full rock albums.

  • amazing :)

  • YEA GOOD SHIT FAM. I LIKE

  • this is mad man, good work, i can imagine some sick artists, singing to this, well done.

  • this is fucking good shit

    you play bass ?

    your sick

  • Guitar forever! :)

    nice music

  • PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP...u kno how on fl studio they hav the kicks going from high to low on ur keyboard...how do u get that to happen in protools...i dont want to just use 1 pitch of a kick

  • @415getActive you can't unless you use pitch shift...fl studio has always been praise for its drum making..and thats y

  • I can tell u produced that straight from ur heart, ur a naturally born producer, excellent work :)

  • @SyedShah01 Nice comment, but just to clarify the term; What he did here was compose not produce. Composing is the first stage of a production. A producer would then come in and change everything:)

  • Awesome job! Like the vibe...

  • luv your guitar wat model is it!!!

  • What bass guitar is that? I'm looking for one but not sure what to get.

  • Your music is very special,, love the feeling you have för the latin music.. you use so nice acord with special feeling

  • Your music is very special,, love the feeling you have för the latin music.. you use so nice acord with special feeling

  • Could you plz give me some tips? i am buying the CME M-Key for Midi, im just beginning with using a keyboard for beats. and also i want to buy a drum computer. just a basic one, not too expensive but something that just does what you want it to do and without too much extra's

  • aw ok, from the side it looks like the machine but i love your set-up

  • What controller are you using for percussion?

  • @jbuck843 That would be the Korg PadKontrol.

  • is that a maschine on top of that midi controller?

  • @Gmacariyall It's the Korg PadKontrol

  • 3:39 pulls out a tamborine! that's too real. I love the beat, you're a great producer

  • sounds really good man!

    greetings from chile

  • did you end up selling this one to craig david? lol

    beat is tight.

  • hey mayn. this a great beat wel done. Can i ask what your using to put the drums in?

  • Man great job! I like your use of live instrumentation! Inspiring!

  • What is that white thing sitting ontop of your M-audio keyboard and where can I buy one?

  • this a nice beat bro !

  • this sounds a lot like Chris Brown "With You"

  • WOW!!!

     very very nice

  • it sounds like u are a hit producer

  • Hey cool video man! I love your mackie HUI setup with pro tools... Im not too into rnb but this is a cool video! thumbs up : )

  • the beggining sounds like Hide & Seek - Mt Eden! :L

  • are all these standard sounds in pro tools?

  • Great music, William! Keep on doing it, bro!

  • needs more cowbell lol.

    cool song man.

  • What BPM are these R&B type beats? They're nice and mellow I like it!!

  • Nice work there. What are you using as mixer/controller? I don't seem to recognize it from this angle.

  • Lol.. the tambourine is a midi device :D

But i like your work, half organic half digital:)! Love your studio.

  • Honestly beautiful, you make it look so easy. It would be so nice to have your skills and setup. Amazing work my friend.

  • What's the name of the synth/MIDI-keybord you got there? An M-Audio something... hm

  • you say you can download these beats from your site but i can't find it...

  • @appiah4 The tracks were free for download for a few months. I am working on a different project now that will also be available as a free download. There is no release date yet.

  • @williamriveramusic ah ok thx you. i want to make music too but i dont know which programm.. do you think pro tools is good?

  • @appiah4 Any software will work good, Pro tools is just that..software and out side a a few different things they all pretty much do the same thing...Pro tools dont have a SOUND like some people think it does, it will Null with any other DAW! Get yourself a good Midi controller and you should be good, this shit is easy!!

  • its faking awesome man!!! great work!

  • hey how did you get the pad control to work with protool i got the black one

  • Sounds like an MJ song tbh, good job

  • sounds like im at church... ..

  • Your my idol! Haha your great :)

  • This is so awesome dude!!! You have a really nice set up!!! and the final beat came out pro!!! does the keyboard sounds your getting all in pro tools? or are you using other software also? cause i use pro tools 7 and reason 4 right now but im getting pro tools 8 m powered friday :)

  • A, E, D..those are the chords! (:

  • you dont play bass often do you?, you get a better sound playing finger style :P it doesnt give a as full sound using your thumb as your fingers :P (im a bassist and artist lol its a force of habit when i see people doing it). other then that sweet beat man :)

  • how do you get it to auto loop is that a feature in protools?

  • too much instruments .u gotta cut down on dat.

  • @nvs030292 Lol on a good beat you need alot of instruments. well kinda depends what music. RnB uses alot of instruments to make the sounds they have.

  • @nvs030292 lmao i doubt that he made this video looking for an ametuer like yours advice

  • @nvs030292 It's called drums, bass, synth, and lead. Learn how to make a track like him, then re-visit his channel when you learn how R&B beats, or beats in general are usually composed. Also he has to create a chorus which is when the rest of the instruments come in. You can't really speak to someone who is better at something than you when you know nothing about what they're doing.

  • Smooth Beat! Very nice...looking at getting a protools set up myself...im about done with Cubase lol oh Be sure to stop by the page when u get a chance...

  • what was the instruments u used? this is great

  • and your software is not the pro tools 8 essential right..is it the pro tools empowered 8?

  • awesome beat bro.. ur gonna have to hit me up with these tracks good work

  • @DrunknMunnky You may download these beats from my website. Thanks in advance.

  • @williamriveramusic Hey man could you possibly tell me the dimensions of the sliders please. Like the size from top to bottom and side to side, i would really appreciate it, Thanks subbed

  • hey this real good
