I think the visual environments are beautiful in this game, as well as the story and emotional scenes from suspense/adrenaline to disappointment/satisfaction. It deserves a higher rating.

@777term maybe you are right...i have played no tomb raiders(except one when i was a little kid and didn't have any idea who the hot girl was, don't even remember the name of that title now)

i was only referring to the way she jumps those horizontal poles, the character animation is exactly the same

i got this game for only like...2 bucks for the pc and i really enjoy it i never got into tomb raider mainly because i didnt understand it i have the ps1 version of tomb raider 2 that was the first one i played and i didnt even get past the first level (not including the manor) yea i suck ass at tomb raider lol but this one seems alot easier to get into so i like this one quite a bit its interesting and fun

This review is horrible. Not the score, I couldnt really care less, but this reviewer is not interesting at all. He also says Legend with an s. It sounds like Im listening to an amateur review of this game, I expect more from a gaming website. For shame gamespot.

i'd say a 7.8 is an ok score for this...

i loved the game.. but as he said, i did beat it in around 7 hours.. and have not played it since... and the puzzles were not varied enough...

still.. i loved the game ;D

GameSpot like to be harsh with their reviews, because they want the reputation of being "the site to impress." They probably enjoyed it more than a 7.8, but simply don't want to admit it in case it ruins their "reputation." Nearly all other game review sites gave it a much higher score - which will probably please GameSpot. It's easily worth more than a 7.8 for its sheer entertainment value, even if it is far too short.

The realistic graphics in Legend are a nice thing, but I sill prefer the older games, they just have that certain charm that the new games don't. I still even play the first TR sometimes, I'm halfway through Unfinished business right now.

there's no tomb raider legend for ps3 sadly, only for ps2, xbox360 and pc. i think it's unfair though, especially with what they did to the ps2 version in underworld

Exactly, I had a ps1 when I was younger and mastered the Tomb Raider Core series. I bought a PS3 months ago and loved Underworld. I missed out on PS2 completely and recently bought one JUST for Legend and Anniversary.

I love playing this on PSP, I wish they put as much effort into all games on PSP.

Tomb raider, GTA and Tekken look and play really well on the system.

I hope to get Underworld on XBOX 360, people have told me the new one is awesome :)

Legend had some interesting level designs, but it should have expanded on those ideas. For instance, I would have found the Tokyo level much more engaging, if the club was located on the street and Lara had to progress vertically throughout the cityscape to the boss battle/goal.

I prefer legend over anniversary. In legend, Lara has 2 allies, where they watch lara's every move and talk to her. Also, u have a binoculas that is not ordinary and finally, the levels vary and r beautiful, whereas in Anniversary it is pretty much same levels based around purly Egypt.

Finally, 1 level in legenb is where u get to play on a motorbike, whilst shooting enemies at the same time and controlling the vehicle. Croft manor is the same as anniversary, only slightly varies.

shoho0809: let me first say that i also prefer legend over anniversary but only by a slim margin. Now, you do know that anniversary is a remake of the very first TR right? So naturally it wouldnt include Zip and Alister. And in anniversary egypt is only 1/4 of the game. The other levels take place in peru, greece, and the lost island

Simplistic levels designed around pointless time trials. Invisible "barriers". Useless "unlockables" that add exactly zero to gameplay. Pointless "Simon says" sequences. Annoying "save points" that cause you to replay entire sections if you die. Short playtime.

How review sites say this game "revitalizes" and "captures the spirit" of the Tomb Raider series is a mystery to me.

Crystal Dynamics sure know how to screw up an existing series and make it for monkeys holding controllers.

I think the ending was great. I love how it was a cliff hanger and now I can't wait for Underworld to come out. I'm glad to also know more about Lara's past. Very nice.
