i lived nine glorious years in austin; one year a single man one block away (don't ask about my gluttony then) and eight as a married guy, eventually w/kids. we know bbq. ruby's is the best in the world. i am stuck now in gawdfersakin' pennsylvania, and not a day goes by when i don't miss ruby's. maybe because we have their framed menu on the wall. EAT RUBY'S BBQ!!!!

FYI, the first story on the local news (like 5 mins. ago) said that Ruby's BBQ had a FIRE today (!), but fortunately was put out quickly. Still, a small business like Ruby's will be hard hit by something like this, so I plan to go there a LOT to help support them. It's my favorite place in Austin anyway; Ruby's serves organically-raised beef, the absolute best BBQ sauce, best variety of traditional sides & desserts, coolest background music and most interesting staff anywhere. My jeep once rolled out of the parking lot at Ruby's and into the street while I was inside eating. Amazingly, no one was killed.
