Well yea, but in Disneyland version, they make it sooo obvious you are going to drop. They say hold on tight, and it even looks like a drop. In Disney world version, they don't say anything about holding on, and it just is dark, you can't see the tunnel/drop, and there is no hints. It's more fun that way!
I'm so glad that you captured the talking Jolly Roger (before the drop). I like the new additions of Jack Sparrow etc. but I was disappointed that they removed the Jolly Roger. Also, the drop is now in TOTAL darkness and you can't see a thing.
Dude people are so stupid on this ride. They start snapping pictures and then get yelled at, "put the camera away" and then get yelled at again. Then I guess they must have cameras or something because one time the ride stopped and they told the person the ride wont continue til they completely put it away. Then they got it taken away when we got off. Disney doesn't care if you film so long as it doesn't have a light on the outside.
@MonkeyMojo54 disney is getting gay!!!! i mean can't they think of something better to do instead of taking away these people's expensive cameras???????
my step mom works at disneyworld and told me a rumor about this ride
she said that there is a REAL ghost named Charley on the pirates ride. And that every morning before opening the ride you have to say "good morning Charley" and if u don't something on the ride will go wrong,
She told me they do it every morning and this was proved to be real.

Shellyfish I'm 5 8 and I am able to reverse 180 dunks. Honestly, anyone can do it, just follow the right training program. I recommend the workout at "50inch vertical [dot] com" but any workout could be followed if you can check they work
sup #VIDEOPOSTERID#, I m training to maximize my vertical leap by following the workout system over at 50inch vertical[dot]com - and thus far got like like 8-10 inches so far but I'm even now a a little off from dunking the ball It's only my third week thus far, any advices?
Pirates of the Caribbean - Ride Through - Walt Disney World
I first went on this ride in 1979, four times between 1998 - 2001, and I should be going in 4 weeks time. It has always been the same and still thoroughly enjoyable.
i remember going on this ride in California, and I could smell the food, and I yelled YO WAITER IM STARVING! and then all the sudden we dropped and i didn't know you dropped on this ride and i was like WHAT THE F!!! LOL
@ShutterPhotograpghy I do not know if anyone has gotten back to you yet but no. It does give me that feeling but I am very small and tiny. I dont like drops but I LOVE this drop! just enough to make me smile REAL big!
@mdmechenstien I rode POTC at least 4 times since the Jack Sparrow renovations (last visit was a year and a half ago) and the talking Jolly Roger was gone. Did they put it back?
I went for the first time on this ride when I was 11 cause I was scared in earlier years, and at the begginning, when you see the skeleton with the steering wheel and when you hear the running water from the hill, I was like, "Crap!! I forgot about the drop!!"
Disneyland is better than Magic Kingdom. Disneyland have two big drops, one that is 52 feet and the second one is 37 feet. Plus Disneyland have more to show than Magic Kingdom. Plus Disneyland has a restaurant.
@Yahiko25 Does it really matter which is better? No, because
1.) The rides are in two totally different parks with two different sets of Imagineers, so of course they aren't going to be the same.
2.) The one in California got a huge renovation that fit the recent PotC movies. This one stays close to the original, so they appeal to different people.
Either way, they are both UNIQUE and I think they are both great. One isn't better than the other
This is one of my favorite rides. My family went to Disney World last year, and during the 9:00 SpectroMagic parade, we went through the ride 4 times without having to wait in line because there was no one else there! I should have taken advantage of it and taken some good pictures, but I didn't.
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY 3 more days, and im gonna ride that ride.. wow that was a weird sentence.. (what? I'm dutch, i can't spell in english..or was that the right way to write it o.O HAHAH)
Oh i'm sooo excited!
Can't wait. First time ever in WDW!
Been to Disneyland Paris 4 times, but i'm looking more forward to WDW WHOOHOOO!!
Awesome night vision! I love this ride, especially before the rehab...I wish they would return it to its original state someday and take out Jack Sparrow and especially that cheesy Davy Jones projection
So without the pirates and the atmosphere the ride would suck? You're right; a ride called Pirates of the Caribbean wouldn't be much good without pirates in it...
so heres the facts. potc was opened at disney world in 1973. there is 1 drop that is 14 feet long and a 45 degree angle. the ride was refurbished in 2006. nothing changed except the characters jack sparrow, barbossa, and davy jones were added. there is no fastpass, there never was. yes is it haunted by george, an engineer who died while the ride was being made.
definitely a classic. it was one of walts favorites. im glad to see such great feed back. i work at potc at wdw and i am very lucky
When we go through this ride, we always look for the pirate sitting on the bridge with the dirty foot hanging down. Is this California or Florida? If it's California, does it have the pirate with the dirty foot?
Is it just me, or did this ride use to have a much bigger drop...? I rode this last around 15 years ago, then again a few weeks ago, I could swear there were 2 drops, a small one followed by a bigger drop. Now its only 1 small drop (6 feet according to wiki-pedia.. Am I crazy...?
I've been going to disney world almost every year from 1995
to 2004. When I went on this for the first time in 95, it seemed a lot bigger to me, but as I got to be the age I am now, the drop became no more than a puny fall. I'm sure that the answer you're looking for. I can't wait to go back in march Im so anxious!
Heh, last time I went on this, it stopped working near the end. :o They came over the loudspeaker and we had to sit there for a few minutes. It was at a point where little thingies of water were coming out of a barral or something, so we got a little bit wet. :P
i LOVE this ride. i <3 the drop. Even at Cali its liike REALLY GOOD. i love it SOO much. i even like the SMELL of the waters. (even though some might think it smells)
damn, your lucky you got to see it before they redid it. im not against it being redone but i went the year they closed it and i didnt know, i was so bummed out :(

Im glad for the rehab they just used those excellent Paul Frees voice-overs. For the rehab tho, Everything is great except that weird music around the cannonball scences, its really annoying and too loud. But heck, Walt liked change. So im cool with it
guess they changed it while the first movie with jack sparrow...oh sorry...CAPTAIN jack sparrow came out. i remember the original ride, but also like that one. its still fun
It's better now captain jack sparrow is on it!

The drop is like 2 seconds long lol!
It seemed like a boring ride to me, except I like going through the 3D reflection in the water where they show the pirates face.

Im glad for the rehab they just used those excellent Paul Frees voice-overs. For the rehab tho, Everything is great except that weird music around the cannonball scences, its really annoying and too loud. But heck, Walt liked change. So im cool with it
reed14567 4 years ago
guess they changed it while the first movie with jack sparrow...oh sorry...CAPTAIN jack sparrow came out. i remember the original ride, but also like that one. its still fun

It's wonderful to see how this ride used to be again!
Jack is an awesome animatronic, but I really wish they hadn't changed a classic ride...
