All I'm saying is that I don't think it is correct or necessary or doctrinally sound to bash America.

I wouldn't call what we are doing "bashing"...just stating the facts which are Truth. Many nations within the Scriptures were judged accordingly by God and many prophets spoke against these nations. If America, as a whole, was doing God's will...they would not be spoken about in this way....unfortunately that is not the case...and America will face judgment soon...
Remember Jeremiah Wright? he got all the heat he got, and rightly so, for mixing church and state. I believe in the separation of church in state. Not only in the political framing of a nation, but also in the realm of philosophies and ideas.
In other words, even though being a Christian changes your entire mentality and life, doesn't mean that I can go up on a pew and say "vote for mccain. the lord is w/ the Rep. party."
What if God told you that the Lord is with McCain? would you say it? or would you still separate church and state...something that man has done...not God?
The only situation in which it is okay to pick a side in politics and say that it is God's will to pick or be on that side, is if a political faction or party is directly going against God's word.
For example, the tyrant regime's, such as communist, all around the world who hate God, persecute Christian's, and make worship illegal.
Then and only then is when you can speak politics through the holy spirit.
So do you believe directly going against God's word is worse than indirectly going against God's word deceiving many?
Many individuals within America are compromising the faith that once was held on with dear life by the early church...directly or indirectly...we must let this be known. Politics is not excluded from what God speaks about, so if we speak what He tells us...politics must come to play eventually right?
Thing is, when you preach politics from a pew, the only thing that will result is a splinters.
People will be divided and torn apart.
Because, even if the Lord is with McCain, which is btw what I believed (i can tell you why i believed that if you're interested); there are some people who are biased. There are some people whose bias will not allow them to open themselves up to the other side and give it a chance.
This goes for the left & right. a biased dem. shouldn't be worried about...
...whether I agree w/ him or not. A biased rep. shouldn't worry about whether I agree w/ him or not.
Evangelists and brother's and sisters in the faith (in general) should not be worried about winning people to ANY political party. rather, we should be worried about winning people for our kingdom.
Oh and another thing...I would have to disagree with you on the fact that this country was founded on Godly principles by Godly people... Yet it is what we are taught, I cannot say that Christopher Columbus was a godly person seeing that he raped women and during their intrusion, genocide was the outcome of numerous Native American tribes... Also the fact that this country was built by the hands of slaves who was persecuted and treated in ungodly manners.
I'm adding you Brothers and your congregation to my prayers. You are preaching the TRUTH and that is dangerous. Persecution comes down on all of us who are not lukewarm. We are on fire and the devil and his demons want to stop us from winning souls for Jesus.
Our congregation is in the clubs and on the streets... Where the fatherless lay, and the widows weep...Where most of the body does not want to speak. These are places where we are invited to speak after seeing us on the streets.
