This video is awesome thank you so much for posting it! This jukebox is a gem and Frank Sinatra was a legend. It's great..... I have my computer audio connected to my huge home stereo system so when I play this video it sounds throughout my entire house. Your jukebox is playing in my house and it sounds great even through YouTube quality audio. I luv it!
Alot of people today don't understand what Romanticism means...and I don't believe it's been common since the 60's. Now we live in the age of micro-electronics and instant-information-communication.
Wow! What a beautiful machine! It uses a Zenith Cobra tone arm right? I guess Zenith cornered the market back then with the light weight Cobra & Cobramatic tone arm & the phono cartridge it used. The sound quality is amazing for a 78 player from 1948!
The Zenith Cobra Tonearm tracked at 18.5 grams or 2/3 of an ounce. It was made of bakelite & used a spring mounted cartridge (bakelite is a rigid type of plastic material). This was a major innovation in 1948. Most tonearms were made of heavy metal and used a nail or steel needle to track records. Records were made of harder material back then so heavy tracking didn't destroy them immediately. They lasted much longer with the Cobra tonearm. I'm a collector & have about 5 Cobramatics.
I Have A Zenith Cobra Console That I Am Trying To Restore.I Only Paid $5 For It At A Junk Store.I Also Have A 1946 Bendix That Has A Heavry Crystal Pickup Tracking At About 30 Or 40 Grams And Takes Steel Or Osmium Needles. The First Magnetic Cartridges Were Introduced By Philco in June,1947,That Innovation Saved Many Records Lives along with The Zenith Cobra-Matics.
That is just absolutely beautiful. Watching that video made me feel like I had gone back in time. I nearly almost wept. That is a beautiful jukebox. You chose a great song to play on it also. Thanks for uploading that wonderful video.
Thank you for a wonderful comment. The juke is really fun to play and with the way the world is (right now) it's nice to go back in time and forget our troubles.
This is the song that Oliver Queen (Green Arrow) sings as he's about to shoot Superman with a kryptonite arrowhead payload in 'Batman-The Dark Knight Returns' or a version of it, anyway. Thanks for the trip down Memory Lane.
I also own an 1100. It is in great condition and plays like new. I am now searching for a 1015 wurlitzer! i have owned several OMT 1015's ( 45 rpm), but nothing compares to an original 78 rpm jukebox.
I am now the proud owner of this model jukebox. My dad bought it sometime in the early 70's, and the amplifier never worked. I remember asking my dad to plug it in when I was a kid. Now, my goal is to repair the amp in it.
Someone's put a lotta love into that sucker, and who can blame ya?! Beautiful to look at and listen to, the sound's amazing considering it's 60 years old. Hope I sound that good then ;-) Thank you for posting!
Wow, I never knew companies manufactured Jukeboxes that played 10-inch 78rpms. Totally awesome and great song. I gotta get me one of these Jukeboxes for my home.
If you are reading this and don't have a tube amp jukebox from the 40's or 50's you need to get one right now. It will be the best thing in your home... I don't care if you have to borrow a couple thousand bucks... just do it... it will be awesome. I have a Wurlitzer from 1950... people have never come over to anybody's home and started to dance in fron of their new CD player !
Your video clip is great and I've rated it as awesome. Please check out mine on some 1960's chart topping stars: Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Cliff Richard, Billy Furry, Lonnie Donegan, and Shirley Bassey.

Nice looking and nice sounding machine! Is it me or are the color cylinder motors both turning in the same direction?
ccrunk1 1 year ago
@ccrunk1 Hi,
Thanks for the comment. The video quality is not too good. I used my old camera. The cylinders are turning in the opposite direction.

Great song. Great tone arm as well. Sounds as if it gives great reproduction through that mono valve amp.

Perfect song for a perfect juke box! If I wanted to buy one just like this what would it cost & where would I look for one?

How Many Grams Did The Cobra Tonearms And Cartridges Track At?

Very nice! Does that thing use the same "cobra" tone arm that Zenith record players around that time did? I think it looks familiar...
davek12 3 years ago
Yep,
It uses the same tone arm and Cobra cartridge as Zenith's phonographs do. Thanks for looking.
