People talk about 'Comfortably Numb' and "Shine On You Crazy Diamond' - but this has got to be my favorite Gilmour guitar solo ever. It still gives me chills after thousands of listens over a 15 year span.
Very welcome to have a listen to AirwavesJoxfields Vegetable (Elephant ) Man with Joxfields tribute-to-David-Gilmour's-ca-1971-playing guitar at 1.59. If you make a visit; hope you enjoy it! Cheers!
@mrkalashnikov I agree, went to see The Australian Pink Floyd Show this year and they did Arnold Lane, I think I was the only one in the theatre who recognized the song...
Jesus is the only hope of salvation from the guilt of sin. He is God come in the flesh. And he came to wash away our sins with his blood that he shed on the cross. Salvation is a free gift, but you must repent and ask Jesus to save you from your sins and come into your heart. God is good. It is written, "The just shall live by his faith."
ive got an old mp3 of the Floyd recorded in Lodon in 1972. It has Time etc on it. It's quite long, pretty good quality, has bizarre sound effectcs etc. If it's not already on YT could upload it. It could be 20-30 mins duration
it says this was also the first time they played some of their pieces off meddle? would anyone know if pillow of winds or fearless is included on that set and if so if theres a way to get them? or if they're posted somewhere
@Noseheros Sure I've heard of Ummagumma, I've got it myself. But what I'm trying to point out is that they should release a live album with lengthy (bluesy) jams and improvisations like on here (they turn "Fat Old Sun", not such of a special song, into a fourteen-minute jam) which they did best (in my opinion) between 1970 and 1973. Oh, and by the way, Ummagumma was recorded in 1969, not between 1970 and 1973.
@pagani43 They could've easily released an album like this instead of the Anybody Out There album (if you haven't heard that yet, simply listen to The Wall and add some reverberation and crowd noise to it).
excellent and beautiful. i would of loved to be sitting in the room when this was recorded. amazing what real music is compared to now a days music. thank you for posting
@SamTalmadge the fiirst time i heard this song i did cry lol for e few months this was all i could listen to i used to leave my house at sunset everyday and drive while listening to this song and watch the sun set..... yeah.... i still do.... anyway your not alone brotha
I have this on vinyl bootleg, with One of these days and Echoes on the b side.I also have a double live from Hamburg, one from the Fillmore west in New York where they playedAtom Heart Mother and the well known one Winter tour 74. All great stuff.
Though Gilmour's Fat Old Sun solo at his Royal Albert Hall concert, done a couple of years ago, is truly amazing and probably technically better than this one, something about this one with its psychedelic echo and spacey feel just blows the roof off of my head - The best I've ever heard. In this version, Gilmour takes this song to where it truly was meant to go. Unbelievable.

you can see the one of this album's song title is Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast. and when i listen to this radio, i rapidly recognize that this voice is Alan because one of their song have exact same voice as he :D
I probably ought not say it, tempting fate, morbid, or what have you, but you know how there was a tribute concert to Freddie Mercury... well Neil Young may well live to a hundred but were he to leave us early and such a concert occured I could see Gilmour doing Like A Hurricane. I just glimpsed a bit of that guitar effect on this.
Absolutely. And although this tune/version is crystalline in it's perfection and always takes me back to the best moments of my childhood; I'd be curious to hear Crazy Horse and Neil give it a go.
Oh okay then... forgot I'd made that comment. How about Gilmour doing Ten Years Gone, Led Zep? That's one of those solos where Page has obviously worked it out and plays it more or less the same live (I think), a Gilmour type approach.
Ray Davies is really underrated as a singer in my opinion; he sounds good singing all his songs, from "You Really Got Me" to "Lazy Old Sun"--which reminds me, I wonder if Gilmour was inspired, if just subconsciously, by "Lazy Old Sun."
This might be my favorite Floyd song ever. This version is amazing. Thank you aurora! I really need to know where I can get some good Floyd bootlegs if anyone can guide me.
