That is absolutely ridiculous and an outright lie. I have been around that term my entire 30 something years on Earth and have NEVER heard it used as a derogatory racial term. it's just a substitute for cussing.

Well, according to history, cotton pickers used to be in their majority black slaves, there was a couple of white and hispanics in the south but less than 10 percent, that's where the term originated.
