  • where can i download FM8 ?

  • Sounds a bit like the early Laurient Garnier stuff.

  • Does anyone know of a video tutorial on how to create an ambient pad or atmosphere?

  • @cautiontext Ableton Live 8 (i think thats what youre asking about?)

  • dear lord

  • i heard of this VST from Skrillex himself.

  • yeah, alot of people watch interviews, dip.

  • need i a keybord to use the program

  • @00dance345 You don't, you can sequence the notes in your DAW, or you can hit the keys by clicking your mouse

  • @decayingtait on the little keyboard at the bottom of FM8 (sorry for the two comments)

  • @00dance345 Almost all DAWs let you use "musical typing," I'm pretty sure Ableton does too. Basically you open up an window with a little keyboard and you can use your comp's keyboard to play it/ record.

  • is fm8 and what is the other program ?

  • @yoeltape

    That's ableton :)

  • NEED expert help....

When I automate something in the Easy/Morph panel and save the project it's like I hit "apply" and the automation restart at the point it was when I saved the project.

It's annoying to have to put all the parameters at the "0" value before I save my project every single time.

  • beautiful! Thanks :)

  • Awesome tutorial! Just got FM8 and it is a beast.

  • god this synth is hard to understand :O

  • @Zkrudriverz anything to do with FM synthesis is generally much more difficult than subtractive synthesis. Limit yourself to just this synth and you'll learn a lot in a small amount of time :)

  • @torment3d are you serious ?

    substractive is hard as balls.

  • @ImTheWackhead no, no it's not.

Subtractive = waveform, cutoff, resonance. That's basically it. FM synthesis? Waveform 1, cutoff, res. Waveform 2, add to waveform 1, listening to weird shit going on. Rinse and repeat.

  • @torment3d yeah but programming a decent synth in substractive is waaaay more difficult than FM synthesis.

you are less limited, but it requires alot more programming. making the above lead in a substractive synthesizer would probably cost alot more time than just 2 minutes.

  • @ImTheWackhead I can tell you right now I can do it in 30 secs. Saw wave, detuned, cutoff filter. Seriously, I don't think you know what you're talking about. Secondly - you don't use additive synthesis and try and recreate in subtractive, because you can't.

  • @torment3d wait, maybe i'm deluded, subtractive is with the thousands of little sine waves right ?

  • @ImTheWackhead I've never heard of any synthesis engine that does that. lol

  • @torment3d whatever :]

    good day to you.

  • @ImTheWackhead No, That's additive. Subtractive is the one one where you filter the sound, you "subtract" harmonics
