I love how some of the press reported this guy. They showed the guys AR and pistol BUT were VERY careful not to show that he was African American (a term I hate - hyphenated-Americans, but...). It gave the impression that all pro-gun people are stupid rednecks.
We're a constitutional republic, not a democracy. A democratic government is very unbalanced.
Again, what confuses me is why bring a gun to defend gun rights at a health care rally; you aren't helping your point by raising an irrelevant point. In fact, there has been no federal movement on the 2nd amendment AT ALL.
My Americans, conservatives and liberals, you are making us all look stupid. Argue relevant points and facts and change our health care. Not lies or nonexistent problems.
semi auto guns are not assault rifles. the military term is battle rifle. assault rifles have select fire full auto maybe 3 rd burst or semi.Chris is a brave american
Bearing Arms was apart of their Ideas sweet... for how else can you protect your property rights against force? If you have no right to defend your property, by law, you have no rights. Period.
When was the last time this guy got LAID?!?! I guarantee if this guy was getting any, he wouldn't be making a jackass out of himself on national TV carrying an assault rifle to a town hall meeting!
We need to have a "Pussy/Gun exchange" - two hours at one of the Nevada brothels in exchange for your gun.
Although five minutes would be more than enough for most of you "hot shot" gun owners.
I don't care that much about grammar; I was just returning your cheap shot.
Oh, and actually, we're both being silly. Neither of us know what the founders would think; it's not like we can read the minds of dead people. And, while I do think guns should be legal (within reason), I'll just personally say that I find guns being carried around the President to be pretty disgusting. And yeah, I would have said the same thing regarding Bush.
It ended up on CNN, they tried their best to demonize the interviewee and interviewer, it back fired, and things are really looking good for open carry. I heard there was 12-15 open carry there with Chris. Next maybe 100 and then maybe 500? Good to see these lovers of country working their magic. The founders would be proud of them.
Being that the obvious intent of the gun carriers is to intimidate people - and, being that these are the same kind of people who try to stifle debate at town halls by shouting down - my guess is that the founders would have been appalled.
the founders would have been appalled that he was the ONLY one who had a rifle. People brought their guns with them everywhere they went back then read a history book.
I wonder what the founders would have thought about assault rifles.
Apparently, you gun fanciers believe that the founders cared more about guns than ideas. You have no problem with the shouting down of the latter, but suggest that people maybe shouldn't be carrying guns around the President of the United States and y'all go ballistic. Whatever.
The founders would have loved the guns we have now. They were avid hunters and firearms enthusiasts to a man. I think everyone's ideas should be heard. That said when the idea is rejected and a politician tries to lie and weasel his way around things he has those shouts coming to him. Our government has lied to us long enough, they have no credibility and people are understandably angry. The fact you actually care about grammar on an internet board says more about you than it does about me.

ladypitbullove, i support gun rights... but i dont have a gun. I dont consider myself a pussy... but people like you who say your a pussy if you dont own a gun make me reconsider my stance. Maybe a basic intelligence test should be required to own a firearm.
Don't reconsider on the grounds that you may or may not be a pussy. Firearms ownweship is a SERIOUS consideration for anyone! Guns are NOT toys, they are tools that are to be used in SELF-DEFENCE as well as hunting and sporting events. In the 40's, if the Jewish people had simply USED their weapons instead of handing them over, the atrocities would have never esclated to the level that they did. The 2nd Amendment was put in place so that tyranny NEVER happens here!!!
avd007 - Please move to N. Korea! They have very stringent gun laws and every mothaf#&er over there knows Tae Kwon Do. A society that fits your desires perfectly, so please go. The United States needs fewer people like you. If you take away guns and force certain practices on people, we will end up just like N. Korea and at that point, even Bill Clinton couldn't save your ass.
Couldn't agree more with ARC4L: if we don't exercise our rights, we lose them -- and we've lost enough already. Those rights were put in place for a reason -- to enable us to continue to live as a free people. And it ticks me off no end that obama has the audacity to tell the American people to shut up regarding his health care plan proposals. Who does he think he is? Who does he think he's dealing with? We're Americans, while obviously, he is not.
Joking aside, this guy is awesome. While most Americans see it as their duty to exercise their first amendment rights, not nearly as many see it as their duty to buy and become proficient with a firearm. Good for him, proving that he can act responsibly even at such a hectic event.
It is a God given unalienable right. Self Defense is spoken of in the scripture and it is God given. As is most everything in our Constitution to include separation of powers, not taxing a mans wages and on and on. What man can give me the right to defend myself? Man can only attempt to take it away. ie, send us to jail for stopping a man from cutting up a teenage boy or girl. Read Luke, Jesus told his disciples to get swords.
Not even just in scripture, the founding fathers thought that those rights (regardless of what creator granted them) were intrinsic with human nature. That's what gun owners complain about when they refer to legislators or police officers who crap all over the constitution, because it was based in the spirit of those rights.
"Ye man of little faith." Goto Mark 16:14 where the word says, "He spoke to them with sharp words..." The tongue also is called a double edge sword. Who makes weapons, God or man? Luke 9:23-27 tells of, "Giving Up Self and One's Own Desires". Freedom of Speech is One's Self and Our Second Amendment is Our Desires. Read Luke 9:23-27 and then ask yourself this question, "What side of the Holywar do I belong to, Heaven or hell? Remember, THIS IS NOT A GAME PEOPLE!!! JESUS IS KING!
Ye of little faith? How about you of little knowledge of scripture? Luke chapter 22 "And He said to them, "But now, whoever has a money belt is to take it along, likewise also a bag, and whoever has no sword is to sell his coat and buy one."
"If you LIVE by the sword you die by the sword" Ask any Tyrant if that's true, well if they are still alive. This countries foundation were established by men of great faith. Preachers were leaders in the revolution.
It nice to see a young man with a nut sac for once, instead of all these GID y boys running amuck all a crossed our nation. Good on you brother... good on you.
we should condition our government and law enforcement with this regularly so they realize WE THE PEOPLE are their TRUE bosses. This guy should be considered a patriotic hero.
Chris Matthews thinks everyone who questions the Health Care bill and open carries a gun is a racist and a birther. If I trained a Baboon at a local zoo to open carry and say "I don't support Obamacare" in sign language, Matthews would say its a racist and a birther.
I honestly think at this point in time drastic moves need to be taken. People are starting to wake up and its a great thing. I can understand the fear people may have, but one point he was making is we can't fear or forget our rights.
This type of display of the 2nd Amendment is necessary more then ever. It lets our so called leaders in government know who's really in charge and that we have the right to defend ourselves.
Just think a bit... when your founding fathers said: "inherent and inalienable rights to life, liberty, persuit of happiness" do you REALLY think they meant carrying loads of firearms around?
That has nothing to do with the second amendment. I don't think this guy should carry this kind of weapon around. It is a poor choice, but one he is entitled to.
If people regularly carried loads of fire arms around, virtually no woman would ever be raped. Virtually no innocent people would be victimized by violent criminals. It would simply be too risky to do so. The founding fathers clearly believed in "the right of the people to keep and BEAR arms." To bear means to carry. What good would they be if you didn't have the right to carry them? You have been wrongly conditioned to be terrified of guns.
I do not own any guns myself. It looks like a pretty serious weapon he has there. I agree with your 2nd amendment but when is it too much? It is one thing to carry a pistol for your own defense, it is another to carry a pistol to a presidential town hall meeting. It is a whole other thing to bring a semi auto rifle to a presidential meeting. I think this hurts the militia movement and I think it hurts the 2nd. That is my point. But obviously I am a minority here.
While I agree with his views, he did exercise his right, but he exercised a poor decision, it probably was not appropriate to bring a gun to political events.
i don't think it is smart to bring a gun to these things.I am for open carry but this is unnecessary Especially an m-4 for goodness sakes. with things so heated. We should be allowed to carry firearms openly and society would be better of and more polite if we did. And also obama is not any bigger threat than the fratboy. CHILL OUT people. Kostric made his point.
I would normally agree with you, but in this situation when left is so freaked out of people exercising their freedom of speech and freedom of 2nd amendment, I think we should exercise these rights even more. When they will stop being freaked out, then people will be polite again and stop bringing their guns and stop shouting at congressmen, I am sure.
