While it was amazingly powerful, the CPU was hitting 90 degrees doing pretty average tasks with the fans maxed at 6200RPM. That's going to ruin both the CPU and fans. I owned a 2010 Macbook, and while I loved it was pretty useless to be honest. Unless you wanna fork out the money for an Alienware that can cool itself, it's not worth it.

Tltoday, i think you are forgetting something, imacs have allways had moble gpus, but they just marketed them as desktop gpus. like in the 2010 model, the imac had the 5750, but it was really the mobility 5850.
So no need to bash on the mobile gpus. iMac's have always had them.

I'm sure the 2012 line of Macs will include USB 3.0. Add that and a wide selection of ThunderBolt devices available by then, not to mention OS X Lion, and it's murda!

@sindiewen They have to have mobile GPU's, how else would they fit them inside the system? I wouldn't be surprised if they're more capable than the ones you'd find in a laptop though as they have more room to space and the power consumption isn't as much of an issue, as it's direct from the mains rather than battery. But still, there's little other choice in GPU terms, seeing as a desktop GPU of the same "model" is about half the size of the actual full machine lol.

The Alienware m17x is 1500 at start price but if you configure it it will cost like 2600 dollars just for decent specs and you can get a imac that is 22 inch for 1200 so rmac is cheaper then alienware
m17x r3: 6970m gpu ,17inch 1020p display,2720qm processor plus i bought 2 intel x-25m ssd's and put them in raid 0 and i put a 8gig kingston hyper x memory. Did i mention its a laptop...
price:2024 usd without the ssd and kingston hyper x memory. So yeah i can sleep well at knowing i didn't buy an imac yay me :)

Tltoday, i think you are forgetting something, imacs have allways had moble gpus, but they just marketed them as desktop gpus. like in the 2010 model, the imac had the 5750, but it was really the mobility 5850.
So no need to bash on the mobile gpus. iMac's have always had them.

Damn thoes new iMacs are pretty beast. Although having mobile GPU's in them, kinda disapointing, but im sure the Sandybridge CPU will make these computers beasts when it comes to gaming.

@sindiewen They have to have mobile GPU's, how else would they fit them inside the system? I wouldn't be surprised if they're more capable than the ones you'd find in a laptop though as they have more room to space and the power consumption isn't as much of an issue, as it's direct from the mains rather than battery. But still, there's little other choice in GPU terms, seeing as a desktop GPU of the same "model" is about half the size of the actual full machine lol.

@VjRocker007 Dude, you're so full of shit, stop being stupid. Even if you had a M18x, the Xtreme edition mobile i7 doesn't beat the i7-2600K. Maybe you have a superior GPU but gaming has never been the main focus with any Mac. And, this is an AIO computer with a massive screen and top notch design.

well the imac comes with a screen mouse and keyboard and the screen is huge screens are expensive you alienware is probably a 11 inch I found it impossible to get a alienware laptop with 15 or 17 inch cheaper then a imac
The Alienware m17x is 1500 at start price but if you configure it it will cost like 2600 dollars just for decent specs and you can get a imac that is 22 inch for 1200 so rmac is cheaper then alienware

m17x r3: 6970m gpu ,17inch 1020p display,2720qm processor plus i bought 2 intel x-25m ssd's and put them in raid 0 and i put a 8gig kingston hyper x memory. Did i mention its a laptop...
price:2024 usd without the ssd and kingston hyper x memory. So yeah i can sleep well at knowing i didn't buy an imac yay me :)
