  • I still love this song. When I was a kid, Jimmy Driftwood himself performed at a little Bluegrass festival in southeastern MN. I was in awe.

  • I would have been too! This is such a fun song to sing! Thanks for watching!

  • oh yes!my Daddy used to play the Johnny horton version on the ol record player all the time.outstanding!

  • this is such a good song, who really can't sing along when they hear it (lol-not necesarily this version though!)

  • Great song John, I remember this one from when I was a boy it's older than that though I hope.

  • Pete! Thanks for all your kind comments, I really appreciate them, it helps me continue!

  • Nice version, enjoyed your singing on this.

  • Thank you VERY much!

  • that's a doozy for sure.

  • It is a fun one, I first learned this from the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

  • That's why I know this song! Ha!

  • They have some great songs!!!

  • Jog my memory for me, John, what else might I have heard from that band?

  • they did a version of House at Pooh Corner years back, more recently fishing in the dark are two that come to mind at first. Two of my favorites are Ripplin' waters and Bowlegs. They also did an outstanding version of Jerry Jeff Walker's Mr. Bojangles. Probably their best known "album" is "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" with many country/bluegrass greats

  • Okay, yeah, that helps! I probably remember Mr. Bojangles best, then. Honestly, I wasn't ten until late '78 and while I hear this music now it's like unfamiliar and familar at the same time! 8)

    Thanks for the info!

    Peace! :-) Elaine

    5*****! Peace! :-) Elaine

  • Finally one you know!!! Great! Thank you very much!

  • Well done that was great, I saw Andy(Directjinxy)was watching this vid and I clicked on it too, i'm glad I did, it takes me back to days long gone now when I was much younger and me and two musician friends used to have sessions in a music shop in Sydney Australia when it was late night shopping, we'd grab 2 cartons of beer, play lots of bluegrass, this song and more and have lots of fun. Thanks for posting. Keep up the good work
