  • I think the JSX has more of a Brown sound then a Satriani sound and this just proved it. Joe will typically run his distortion pedal thru the clean channel of any amp. So he doesnt use the distortion on this amp. And I knew you had to be using some type of aftermarket pickup. The PAF sound really great in that Strat good tone good playing. A strat with a Floyd man now thats a cool ass Strat I wouldnt have it any other way. Those are hard to come by. Cool guitar bro. keep posting.

  • @danbenkert Thanks bro. I have read the same with Joe, its a shame he doesnt use the amps distortion b/c I think his tone is flat and dull. Yeah, the strat is awesome - basswood body, Charvel - like neck, PAF pups, Floyd. It has all the components of the newer EVH guitars.

  • Great tone!

  • That sounds just like it!!!!!!!!!!! Yes!

  • great playing i have been looking for a strat with a floyd for a while can you give me any info on where you got it. much appreciated.

  • Finally someone on youtube can play this song!

  • awesome i just got that same guitar except it doesnt have the maple neck

  • Nice one man

  • awesome guitar tone! : )

  • ur awesome sir..I sent my vid..

  • Great playing young man.

  • what pickups aer you useing

  • Dimarzio PAF Pro hum in this guitar.

  • nah people hes got a lisense to shred,..........and to kill rofl

  • LOL

  • impresionante mejor qe el original

  • Sounds badass... your covers are spot on... even Eruption was flawless!

  • CIA agents are trained to play guitar??? =P

  • /added to favorites for pure ass legitimacy

  • is an american strat or mexican?

cause i just may have the same exact guitar as you, humbuckers and all.

    love the crunch.

  • This is a Made in Japan basswood Floyd Rose "Classic" Hot Rod strat. They stopped making them back in 94 or so. Has the Dimarzio PAF Pro, which came stock.

  • tone sounds great. great tone, the jsx really has some bite. really clean, and articulate tone. very ballsy and dry sounding, really nice. the thing i like about all your videos is that you know how to get good tone, and you go out of your way to get the specific tone for the song. it really shows.

  • Thanks. Man the amp really rocks. And when you change guitars, the amp really shows that particular guitars tone. Thats rare in an amp (IMO). Makes one play at their best too, as I dont worry about the tone.

  • What are you using for reverb?

  • The JSX's reverb, set on 4. Then delay, set at 320 ms, one repeat. Hope this helps.

  • Yeah it does, i just wanted to know cause that reverb sounds great! Usually on board reverb sounds like crap.

  • unless it's a fender or good Marshall u forgot to say that lol.........;)

  • Shit man, you have the tone nailed

  • can you please tell me how to play that good lol, watching that just made me want to give up because of the awesomeness. i guess a better amp would be my choice lol. great guitaring man!!

  • Thanks man! In truth, a good amp/guitar makes all the difference. The JSX rules!

  • het man it sounds great. do u have the combo? and what delay r u using there?

  • Yep have the combo. I am using a Boss DD-20(?), set at 320 ms one repeat. Hope this helps.

  • Cool i just bought a jsx combo off ebay. got it unused for $899! that amp has some of the best tones ive ever heard come out of a combo. im loving your sound on your vids man. keep the van halen coming! oh and my other question was do u like the evh phase 90 i was thinking of buying one.

  • Congrats man! $899 is a good deal. Yes, I use the EVH phase all the time - makes the tone even larger, especially for leads.

  • dude when i get a JSX you gotta help me out haha. yours sounds awesome.

  • Hey Satch. You gonna get one? The tone on this vid is probably my favorite... thick and creamy sounding, sort of like a good porno:)

I would recommend the combo, as the speakers are made to go with the amp. Cheers!

  • def. the combo. the music store has one but its 1550. is that a good deal? i think i need to deal a little lower haha. im not liking that price one bit. ill probably get the jsx about the same time the EVH wah wah arrives...early october. your combo sounds great

  • I got a quote from another local store for 1200 new, then GC honored it. I still love the tone after two years, and have never had an issue at all. With your music tastes, I think you will love it.

  • LOL thanks John. These days, I dont even get to play on the weekend! Man keep the great vids coming... you ROCK!

  • everythings excellent but speed up your pick slide

it should make all the difference in the intro

    and improve the evh factor

btw i dont mean any disrespect cause when someone makes a suggestion it always ignites the fire

    i rest my case

  • Thanks man. Your suggestion is fair, so no fire here. Ill give it a try and see how it sounds.

  • grab the right tabs for the intro i noticed a few notes that were a bit off during it, but sounds good, along with the rest of ur stuff

  • Thanks bro. Yeah the harmonics might be off. I learned this to watching Ed play on the Lettermen show, not sure how close that version is to the album.

  • the amp is gonna blow, but at low house volumes it sounds amazing. maybe a ds-1 with zero dist and zero tone might work?

    ta

  • The ds-1 may work... One note, I only use the TS for the amber channel - not the red. I usually play with the channel volume at around 3-4 and the mst around 4, so its loud but not too loud to blow anything. Jake used the Boss OD (yellow one).

  • I have the sd-1 gonna try that, although im still on the look out for some pedal that will take away the raspy/metalic sound from the tubes to sweeten/smoothen the highs out

    cheers

  • I just bought a jsx and love the distortion, although if you check my tone videos to hear my old tone youll hear how it is smooth. im having problems getting a smoother tone as i find the distorion a little metalic sounding and want to use some sort of pedal to clean up my solo tone any advie? i get the sound i want if i use a gt-6 clean preamp through the ultra channel although when the amp is loud it sounds like the sounnd cant open up and

  • why do you set your ts-9 level and tone to 0?

  • Its an old trick I picked up from Jake E Lee. He turned off the tone and the gain, but cranked up the level to get more drive without the unwanted distortion. Its a bump in the signal without the fuzz.

  • ya dude your harmonics are off

  • what effect did you use here

  • EVH phase and delay (420 ms, one repeat)

  • oh nice

  • Thanks bro. Make it a little low in the mix and your there...

  • hahaha yeah ive been trying to use an ibanez tube screamer ha

  • pretty decent, only a few off notes...you sure the harmonics are right?

  • not sure. I learned this by watching Ed on the Letterman show, and it seems close to what he played there...

  • lol, awesome dude, watchin the man himself and learnin it. Overall was really good, keep on rockin!

  • what is jsx... is it an amp? and if not what are you using and your setting to get that tone

  • Hola. The JSX is the Joe Satriani model from Peavey. I have the combo version. Im using a few pedals that are listed on my "home page".

  • thanks alot pal keep posting awsome skillz

  • Hey nice playing dude!

I'm looking at buying a JSX or a Hughes and Kettner Switchblade. The Switchblade sounded great, but I have yet to play the JSX. Any opinion?

  • Man after a year, I still love the JSX. Best amp for the price IMO. Thanks for the comment.

  • Well, I tried the 2x12 combo this weekend and it sounded fantastic! I will definitely be picking one of these up. The combo seems like a much better deal than the head seeing as you get the added reverb, convenience of the combo, as well as an output to hook it up to a larger cabinet if need be.

  • One Of The Best Guitarist On Youtube!!!!

  • NIce job! Hey im kinda unclear as to what pickup your usin in that guitar, before you said it was a paf pro and in the comment below you said a dimarzio super distortion?? Anways great playing!

  • Good catch! I initially thought it was a SD, but its actually a Dimarzio PAF Pro. Hope this helps.

  • Your good James limburg has a ego biger than my arm.

I Only e-mailed him to say dude, your good he blocked me punk.??????

    Your good man.

    Kirk Formerley Canada.

  • what are your amp settigns dude. awesome sound.

  • Thanks man. Red channel, gain-5, B-5, M-4, T-6, Pres-5, Reson-5, channel volume-3, master-4, rev-4

Then the EVH phase. Rock on!

  • FUCK that was GREATE !!!

  • nice cap...

  • One word - Clandestine...

  • Hell yeah, what better way to show off guitar skillz than playin some eddie van halen :)

  • how long have u been playing

  • 24 years, off and on. I was a gigging pro guitar player in my youth, many many years ago!

  • what r ur amp settings dude love the tone

  • beginning sound just like the record. Awesome tone!!

  • thats so kick ass..wat type of wammy do u use?

  • Thanks. Its an original Floyd Rose... stays in tune amazingly well.

  • omg i have that same guitar, but yours has a floyd rose u lucky haha :P

  • Yours the hot rod strat?

  • no, itz the standard (made in mexico) not as nice though!! well, i am only 14 so i think thatz good enough 4 now haha...

  • eh man great playing ive been watching some of your other vids to and i love your tone.. what kind of humbucker do u got in that?? nd did u put the floyd on yourslef?

  • Thanks man. The floyd strat has a Dimarzio Super Distortion, and the Lone Star strat has a Pearly Gates plus. The floyd is actually called a "Hot Rod" strat, and came stock with the Super D pups and Floyd. It came out back in the 90s and has since been discontinued.

  • LOL man that must be TIGHT! I dig your vids as well man, especially Ice Cream Man. Thanks for the comment.

  • tighter than a buzzards ass in a powerdive.....nice VH action man, all of it

  • BIG TONE!! Really love your panama rendition...

  • JSX sounds great!

  • Awesome mate! I like that you picked a tapping part of the solo - gave it your own feel. Really nice tone too! P

  • Good call on the JSX! Thanks mate!
