  • Yes her voice is too big for this piece, but I like it

I'm much more irrirated by modern coloraturas who sing drama sopran arias in theatres...

  • Mozart would kill her if he had to hear how she massacres this piece! Where is all that Mozart wrote? Where is the staccato?

  • How jarring, but I still like it.

  • This was really good. Nilsson is not considered a Mozart soprano although she did sing Mozart roles such as Donna Ana in Don Giovanni. She did not have a real Mozart soprano voice, but here her Elettra is remarkably good. She has excellent technique and intensity, her usual lazer sharp "cold fire" thing, nevertheless this is not the right way to sing Elettra and it was sung too fast, owing to the cut in the middle. But otherwise better than Joan Sutherland's effort.

  • according to ms nilsson, this was before she found her technique (in Brussels i think she says) but the raw material is quite remarkable. there are other recording before she found herself - all very interesting. here she certainly acting and i see why she said she usually prefered recording of live performances to studio recordings.

  • Very interesting! Always wondered what Nilsson sounded like as Elettra. Odd cut in the middle...
